Ive had this trouble also. It works if i create individual user accounts, but what do i need to do to enable the Guest accounts so anyone can access my shares?

Im using two network cards in one Computer. One card is a 10mb combo which is connected to one other machine using a BNC cable. The other card is connected to a 100mb switch which has a further 3 machines on it. To get this configuration to work i have to route each machine's ip address to the NIC that it is connected to. This way i can connect to all the machines on the network at once, and everyone else can connect to my machine. The problem is that machines connected with BNC cannot see the machines on the switch, and vice versa. Is there anyway that i can combine the two networks so that every machine can see one another?

I recently went from a BNC network, to a Switched 10/100 and it works really well. The 5 port switch was only £45 from a Computer fair, and works suprisingly well.

I cant get this to work in Windows2000. It came with WinNT4 drivers but they wont work in Win2k. Looking on Relisys' web site it seems that the scanner doesnt exist. It turns out it was made by Teco. Its model VM6599 USB. Still cant find drivers for it. Any ideas where i can find drivers?

Is there any Sidewinder software i can use in Win2k? The pad (Freestyle Pro) works ok, but i have no way of changing the range of motion, or deadzones

i was running WinME/Win2k dual boot, until i realised that the only thing that i was using WinME for was Virtual Game station (PSX emulator) and that was hardly worth the GB of HD space WinME was using. So its Win2k all the way from here. I built another system for WinME

i have one, it works. I watch TV on it all the time. Video capture works well if you have a fast cpu. With your CPU you may be limited a little. On my Celeron366@550mhz i was able to record realtime DivX video, which used about 10megs/minute, then afterwards the sound could be mp3 compressed to make it use about 3megs/min. I have the Mono version, sound quality could be better.

I tried that too, but it still wont resume from hibernation. After flashing back to Bios KG it works perfectly. But the CPU (celeron 566) isnt stable at 953mhz anymore. Still works well at 876mhz all the same.

Running an Abit BH6 with ACPI enabled, and latest Bios. Just installed windows, and im having some problems with the sound card drivers (Aureal Vortex 2) The applications crash out with an error "The instruction at (address) referenced memory at (address). The memory cannot be read." I think this is caused by the fact that every card in my system is sharing IRQ 7! Thats the Geforce, Diamond Supra express modem. Realtek network card and Diamond MX300. All are using latest drivers. I have enabled "PNP OS installed" in the bios and it makes no difference. I cant change the irq's manually from Device manager either. Any ideas what i can do to sort this?
-
Yeah, i got everything working now, but ACPI seemed to not be causing any problems then. Sounds a good idea because i do have a shortage of IRQ's. Is there anyway i can enable ACPI in Win2k? once its been installed without it?

Since i flashed my Bios Win2k has been acting up. Now everything crashes, When it boots up, i get nothing but a Blank screen. In Task manager it shows Rundll at 99% usage. When i close this Windows continues and boots up. Sound card Applications crash, most other programs crash come to think of it. For some reason Windows detects a Com port 4, which has a Yellow exclamation mark next to it. Cant get rid of that. Tried re-installing from a blank harddrive, with ACPI on and off, makes no difference. Only thing i can think of is the Bios. I recently flashed it, before that it was working fine. Any ideas?

Look like i have the same prob with my BH6. With APM on or OFF i can hibernate, but it wont awaken from hibernation. Just gets to the Progress bar thing like you said and stops at the end. Im using bios NV, and ive also tried the latest SS and it seems both wont work. I used to use KG and that worked perfectly. Looks like ill be flashing it again tonight Thanks for posting your problem as it confirmed the question i was about to ask.
-
Yeah, ive sorted it. It seems that my Modem's Wave driver was conflicting with my soundcard. Disabling the Modem wave driver fixed it.

I re-installed Without ACPI, all the devices are on their own IRQ now and its still happening. Only thing i can think of is that the Bios im using is incompatible.

I have the latest motherboard bios. I think its most probably my soundcard which is causing the problem as the drivers aren't very stable and it seems to be the Vortex control panel app which always crashes. So how can i get my devices onto seperate IRQs? and still be able to use Hibernation? I used to have it running perfectly. How about if i disable ACPI, re-install Win2k then enable it in the Bios. Will Windows detect ACPI and allow me to hibernate?

I think they are in Lang/Eng/cabs or something like that

Looks like my suspicion was correct, thanks for confirming it for me though. I think i should pick up a SBlive sometime soon.

i was running a 230w PSU for some time and had the problem. After blowing that one up i replaced it with a 250W PSU and the problem is identical. In WinME it never happens. Its not a heat problem, and ive not heard/read anywhere that the Geforce has a problem with the BH6 motherboard. I am using ACPI in Win2k, maybe that has something to do with it, i think a new bios revision is in order. I really dont think it is a hardware problem though, more likely to be a driver problem. The soundcard drivers are most likely the culprit. The problem is that sometimes i can play for hours without any trouble, so its very difficult to know if i have fixed it or not.

i just hibernate most of the time, so restarts aren't that much of a problem, it doesnt take that long anyway to boot normally

Power doesn't shut off at shutdown

In the power options, enable APM. -
Dual boot setup, is there a better way to do this?

What i want is for the Win9x/Win2k boot menu to remember which OS i last selected, and use it as default. What i do at present is have a MSdos batch file in the startup of each OS which changes the Boot.ini file. It seems a little crude though and i was wondering if theres a better way to do it. -

What i do is put these 2 files in C:\ You will have to edit these files to point to your install of Win2k. http://website.lineone.net/~winger300/BOOT.W2k http://website.lineone.net/~winger300/BOOT.WME Then put each of these files in their respective OS's startup folder... http://website.lineone.net/~winger300/boot2k.ba1 http://website.lineone.net/~winger300/bootwme.ba1 I had to rename the .bat files to .ba1 cos my webspace provider is funny about them. Just rename the .ba1 to .bat That should do it. [This message has been edited by Winger300 (edited 04 July 2000).] [This message has been edited by Winger300 (edited 04 July 2000).] -
Your completely right Wlightn. I can enable this feature in Win2k but not in WinME. If you have good speakers you can notice the difference.

If you mean the Digital CD audio option in Win2k and WinME. Well it works in WIn2k in my system, but in WinME the option is present, but it is all greyed out (ghosted) and you cannot select the option.
