oops! It's just in the Task Manager--> Shut Down--> Hibernation! But I still don't understand why they left it out of the shut down dialog... Stephen

About a week ago i added 128 sdram in my box and now i'm with 224 mb ram. Very oddly about the same time (i, honestly am not sure exactly before or after) i started getting random hard locks and some pixels distortion. I ran SIMMTESTER's DOCmemory and in 64 loops it found zero problems. So i figured out it must be video card problem so i plugged in a new AGP TNT2 32MB from Pine on Friday. The problem is that yesterday night another hard lock occured! Any ideas (memory, video or both can cause hard locks?)? Abit BH6 rev1.0 latest BIOS/setup defaults -ACPI enabled Pine M64 Riva tnt2 w/ 32mb @ AGP +latest official detonator 6.31 drivers (which i also used before w/ my canopus spectra 2500tnt with zero probs) dimm1: 32mbsdram/100 , dimm2:64, dimm3:128 P.S. I never had any hard-lock before thanks in advance + sorry for the long post

i' m having problems connecting my HP omnibook xe3 laptop via its infrared port with my siemens s35. I've enabled infrared in bios and set it to FIR mode, win2k recognises my Siemens ("Siemens s35 in range", it says), switched my siemns to infrared mode, in the dial-up connection i've made i've selected the irDA modem (irc link) but when i try to connect i' m getting this answer: "the remote computer rejected the conncetion attempt" Anyone could help me on this one? Thanks in advance [This message has been edited by 5t3ph3n (edited 05 December 2000).]

to solve all you you bh6 1.0 probs in win2k: 1) update you bios with the latest one (SS) 2) load setup defaults 3) CHANGE mode to ACPI ENABLED!!! 4) install win2k

innoculateIT last version scans e-mail attachments via real-time-protection. Overall it's the best anti-virus program in my opinion...

here is the situation: When i download something quickly (for me)(e.g. >5kb/s) and at the same time trying to open a page with many pictures almost half of the pictures don't open (an "x" insted). If i stop the download and i only refresh the page, the pictures open just fine. Same thing is happening with ie5.01sp1 AND ie5.5final. I'm using Win2k SP1. Anyone having the same problem or any ideas? Thanx!

yes! it's a known problem... WMP7 final makes directCd report no compatible CDRW (and other problems also). you should uninstall wmp7 and i suppose(?) you'll be alright again

perhaps you installed windows media player 7?

inoculateIT *** the-best-by-far *** 1. free 2. quick 3. not many resources 4. daily updates

found it at last: head hurts...cut head... Simple and effective... Format-->install win2kpro-->install wmp7 final (warning:the beta caused the trouble!)...

i'm thinking about this Europe on Line program for internet with satellite and i need a good DVBS card that will work in win2k. Any suggestions? (Pentamedia has drivers but 1. bad reputation 2. drivers don't allow TV!). Thanks in advance!

First of all the search didn't work. (it found results but finally said 0 results...). Tried browsing 7 pages h/w post but nothing related... So anyone know how to cure the lost of hybernation/stand by just after the installation of hollywood beta1 drivers? P.S. Sigma design initially said that will release official gold drivers just as soon as win2k is released; that's February. Maybe they meant Whistler Abit BH6rev1.0 BIOS QN SB PCI 64, Canopus spectra 2500 TNT, Hitach gd2500bx dvd etc... [This message has been edited by 5t3ph3n (edited 20 June 2000).]

Where are the older ones?? -

1) Nope! Nothing related to! All the posts (22) are from April 2 till now BUT NOTHING EARLIER. So anyone of the admins can give us an explanation about the older ones? Have they been erased for space? Have they gone off-line? 2) Regarding search: CM, you're right. I should have selected the "ANY OF THE WORDS" if i wanted ANY of the words. But i want ALL the words (Hollywood+hibernation). So, 0 results for Hollywood+hibernation. (Anyway i searched all 22 results but still nothing of interest to me). Further, regarding my mispelling of the word hibernation: a. English is not my first language and b. Search should have intelligent mechanism to avoid similar no-results 3) My main question does not regard SEARCH function but the problem of Hollywood Real Magic + decoder board which just after i installed beta1 drivers hibernation (or hybernattion ) was lost along with ACPI functions. I'm sure many of you have bought it and someoene at least can enlighten this case. thanks and sorry for the long post stef Abit BH6-1.0 BIOS QN [This message has been edited by 5t3ph3n (edited 20 June 2000).] -

a search for "hibernation real magic" and "hibernation magic" and "hibernation hollywood" returned 0 results (maybe it's because older supjects are erased). So anyone willing to help me on that? -

...and "Hollywoo"d is spelled Hollywood, "Real Magic" is spelled "Real Magic" and "smartass" is spelled "smartass"... -
they work great! ACPI is now fully functional... (note: you hace to make a fresh win2k installation with ACPI enabled in bios options). you should 100% try them!
