i'm using win2k final for over a month and i must say that i'm impressed w/ its stability, ease of use and speed. So I don't quite understand M$ policy to say W2K is "a business OS" and not everybodys's OS, and furthermore why to produce Millenium (such a stupid name in my opinion that only confusion can bring Win2K vs WinMillenium --> let's laugh). And a future dual between Linux vs Win2K??? Just wondering what you guys are thinking about...

Sorry if this is a bit irrelevant but i would really appreciate any help on that: i d/l corellinux-oc_1.0.iso.gz (243MB) from corel, unzipped it and i got the corellinux-oc_1.0.iso file (311MB). How can i burn this file to a CD-R e.g. with Nero so that the contents are shown in the CD-Rom and then boot from it since i have a bootable cd-rom? Further, is a way to install Linux with W2K w/o repartioning my NTFS drive? thanks in advance!

i mean it starts ok,i open iso image but i get a termination message when i select extract files in the same directory or with pathname...

ok, but then if you get what you pay for, what's the point of M$ claiming that WinMill will be the last on the series and a unified OS called "Whistler" will follows? I mean what about its price (will it be 1/2*[Win2K+WinMill] $$$ ?

i've installed nero 4.0.7.5 on win2k final (reboot->blu screen->reboot>last good config), but when i make an audio compilation and select tracks with drag & drop nero tells me:"the nero driver is not installed.without this nero cannot handle drag & drop operations of .cda files.please use the menu command save track instead to obtain wav files." therefore i cannot make compilations on the fly! any ideas? ( before nero i installed adaptec aspi latest-4.60. also after the above message nero tells me that it can't find the atapi/scsi device i specified e.g. D: ) [This message has been edited by 5t3ph3n (edited 08 January 2000).]

hi there! is there a way i can auto-shutdown my ATX computer with win2kpro final with no need to turn off the switch? thanks in advance motherboard: ABIT BH-6 / P2-350

with all the respect SHS, i am 99% sure that even after i checked the APM box my comp still didn't auto shut-down; but when i disabled(!!) the ACPI in BIOS-->voila! all done! anyway something from Abit's BIOS revisions that may help users (http://www.abit.com.tw/english/download/bios-bh6.htm); in rev. GY they disable ACPI by default; in rev. HN the "Solves the problem of Windows98 not being able to shut-down properly when the ACPI function is enabled. "; in my FU: "Supports ACPI function"; So i believe that if i play with my Abit's biossettings i could get Hybernation like i got auto-shutdown;but i don't want to experiment with BIOS settings or updates. (maybe then and after clean install hybernation?) sorry for the long post!
