You can change the sample rate w/o any 3rd party programs by doing this: Control Panel / Mouse / Hardware tab / Properties button / Advanced Settings tab There's a sample rate field that only goes up to 100, and an input buffer length field. The help on the input buffer field says increase if you have erratic mouse movements. I increased both of these to the max and it fixed some erratic problems I was having in Q3 and Draken. (Well, I'm still having some probs in Draken but it's tolerable now.)

Ok, the official word is this. I have some inside sources since I work at HP. HP does not plan on making scanner drivers for any _current_ USB scanners. The 4100 works because, as other people found out, it's an Epson OEM that just happens to have a driver already. The first supported USB Scanjet will be the 5300, which isn't out yet. Now, I want to change their mind, as I'm sure you do. So, that being said, I want to get everyone's participation on convincing this group that there needs to be support for our scanner in Windows 2000. If you wish to see the Scanjet 4200 support in Windows 2000, go to http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/scanjet4200 and reply to my post there. Once I have gotten a good number of responses, I will contact this group in HP again and tell them what we think. If you do not wish to join the club, you can send me email. -hal hal@null.net

I tried 353, 365, 366, 368 and now 369. I just used the instructions included with the driver, which was much less awkward then those they put with the win9x driver. Installed no problems, all versions. I have unfortunately been too lazy to do any benchmarking, but performance has been at the very least comparable to when I had win9x on this box. So far so good!!

Here is the official word from Gravis: Quote: From: "Beta, Gravis" <gravis_beta@gravis.com> To: "'hal@null.net'" <hal@null.net> Subject: RE: Gravis Beta Software & Windows 2000 Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2000 17:13:04 -0600 You can hold your breath, but you may turn blue. We don't expect to have a working driver for Win2K until late in the first quarter...there is more to producing a driver/installer for Win2K than meets the eye of the casual user. Should I hold my breath or not? I've been really wanting to use my Xterminator Gamepad with Win2k lately. Or, do you know of any workarounds? I've tried telling Windows I had a 6 button gamepad and a 6 button joystick, neither worked. Ideas? Sorry! (At least they're working on it!) -hal
