Is it only happening in a single OS? If so...is that OS windows 2000? If so..are you using SP2? If so...thats your answer.. confused??? well..Service Pack 2 had a nasty habit of randomly rebooting me exteramly randomly (me being in the computer arts field...thats very bad)..once i formatted and kept SP2 OFF my system..everything was dandy..

I have been working on this for the past 2 days, and I am finally giving in and asking for help... As you can probobly see from the title of this thread...I am having "issues" with my Geforce 2 GTS board on my Asus P3V4X Moboard. I have read every thread inside and out, the Geforce FAQ up and down, and have tried all solutions and nothing works so far...so let me tell you the problem I install the card and it works fine (with all driver versions)...for about 2 minutes. And then it locks up (hard locks) my system every time. It wont do this tho if i uninstall the drivers and run in crappy 16 color mode with the standard VGA drivers from win2k. I have installed the new VIA 4 in 1's...screwed with all bios settings, tried EVERY driver, made sure everythings plugged in nice and snuggly...you name it..I most likley tried it. Here is my sys specs:: Win 2k SP1 PIII 500 mhz 512 K ram Asus P3V4X board with newest bios NVidia Geforce 2 GTS SBLive! Platinum 5.1 ANY help no matter how small would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance! --now inc

Man...you just asked the $20 million question. There used to be an OLLLLLD version of it that ran on 2k...i wish i still had it...however...to shine some light on your life.. I am currently trying to find the proper decompiler so that i can RE-compile it using a 2k compatible value. If i can do this, we will all be in impact heaven. (don't hold your breath...i have tried dozens of different routines and so far none has even come close to working) --now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

So after 4 months of me trying to figure this out...i am giving in..and asking for help... so i have 2 different PCI 56k modems (not installed at the same time..obviously)...and both of them (each one are supposivly fully 2k compliant) wont recognize on 2k. I manually install them (using the drivers)...and still...they wont work. One says the com port is busy (even tho device manager says its not)..and the other says there is no dial tone (yes...its plugged in to a phone line)... so...any ideas?? they BOTH work for NT...so I am forced to keep NT4 installed...and I REALLY dont think its "right" to dual boot NT4 and 2k..as only one is really necessary (i know..its argumentable...but its a waste of space for me to have both) any ideas at all would be GREATY appreciated... --now ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

Uhh..the only version that is officially supported on 2k is the Loopy landscapes expansiion with the update patch. every other version doesnt work.... --now inc

Actually...do you have winDVD 2000 installed? The Trial? because if you do, that is the source of your problem. Once the trial expires...it expires their MPG playing software too...which is what is used by default on 2k...sucks a big one if you ask me... to fix it...well...uninstall windvd and reinstall WMP...hopefully if all goes well the message will go away... Your not alone...I speak to tons of people who have the same problem (i had it too).. --now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

I must agree in saying that AOL users dont belong on the web. They dont deserve to even be using computers. I swear, AOL causes more problems then it solves. If you dont understand what I mean, ask anyone who chats in an AOL chat room how much hell it is osmetimes. Anyway..AOL 5.0 SHOULD work on NT, since they say its written for it. Tho knowing AOL..it prob wont work. AOL 6.0. well..If its BETA..STAY AWAY!! AOL will do something stupid like track you for using it illegally or something. They are dumb like that... ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

you have to delete a file called (i think) gimmie.dll i dont know why, but when you delete it the game works fine! what its doing without deleting that file is generating a HUGE swap file that usually causes the game to crash before it even starts. hope this helps --now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

The program called PowerVCR works AWSOME. Even lets you do mpeg capture. Problem is that it isnt free. But if you want to watch TV in 2000, I say pick it up until the drivers come out. (ATI says the drivers for the AIW pro should be out tommorow or monday...im not holding my breath) --Now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

Ok..I hope this hasnt been covered already...but... When the Service packs for 2000 come out, are they going to require you to be logged on in order for them to install. (similar to how Internet Explorer works now). I hope not since I have no modem on my win2k system, but would love to patch it up using a Service pack. If they do however do this, would there be any way for me to download a full executable of the service pack, one that doenst require me logging on to upgrade. --Now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

Ok...i hope I can help clear this up a little bit... In the old days the whole mailing yourself a copy trick (although widley used) was not actually a VIABLE form of copyright. It would work in most courts, but it could be disputed. The only ways to get a LEGIT copyright now is to send a COPY of the original in its BEST form to the copyright office and pay them the fee... As for digital internet based documents... public domain. That is the best argument available. Images are another story, as they can be copied and sent (as a print out) to a copyright office. A web page however can not. A name yes, content, no.. sucks doesnt it? The point is anyone can sue anyone at any time for any reason, weather or not your going to win is another story. The net is not a secure place to post anything sacred, just be carefull what you post, and everyone will be happy... --Now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com

The problem is that the MMC is still in BETA. They for some reason cannot make a TV program for their OWN hardware (tho PowerVCR has worked for several versions with no glitches (even video capture) on Win2K). I have an ATI card too, and I am going to seriously consider another brand of Video adapter when it comes that time for a upgrade. They have crappy tech support (incredibly slow and very unhelpful) and seem to forget about the older (but still widley used) cards. They need to clean up their act fast before they lose a giant margin of their user base. --Now inc ------------------ Now inc. http://www.now-incorporated.com
