So here's my problem: drivers load no problem. The Aureal tray icon even appears in the systray and in control panel. that is where the problem starts, when I try and use the Vortex tools it gives me a "Could not open audio driver file." and I can not get it to load. I downloaded these from aureal (5.10.XXXX) any ideas?

ACID, I had a cel 433 OVCLK to 540 and my Banshee card clocked to 120. I was having all kinds of random freezes and lock-ups. I clocked my Processor back a bit and made sure I had 2.5V core volts and it cleared all the problems up. I would try clocking your proceesor down a bit.

What were you doing when this happend? was it just sitting there on the desktop with nothing running except background apps, browsing the inet? or what?

I had the same problems...first the rebooting then the mounting volume problem. The fix for me was to download the latest ASPI drivers from adaptecs' web site. now I am using nero 4.0.8.3 with no hitch. I had the volume mounting problem first with 4.0.7.5 though after I installed the windows 2000 compat. update. so I figured okay I have a cdrom hardware problem, so I went and got a pioneer 6x dvd....same problem. I then went and downloaded the ASPI from adaptecs' sight and now everything works great. by the way my system is a Matsonic 7112C Mobo, a cel 433, 128mb ram, a guillemot phoenix, a aureal vortex 2 superquad, ext 56k, pioneer 6x dvd, hp 8250i cdrw, win2000 final (2195)

Does your server use ssl? if so do you have it enabled? did your network admin at work give you remote access rights? what protocol does it use? is it TCP/IP, or is it something else (PPP, IPX...etc)? also are your local security settings like for that connection? under network/dial up connections right click the connection that is used and check the settings in there and make sure they are right for that server. when I first installed a stand alone dial up it configured it as a intranet connection instead of dial up so I had to make one of my own and delete the other one then rename the dial up to the others name.....complicated huh.....for whatever reason some programs that configure dial up like it is win98 make it do that

are you logged in as administrator or what?

Have you tried setting it to another IRQ? one you know isn't being used. if it works then stick with it if not then try try again. [This message has been edited by Maverick494 (edited 03 March 2000).]

First I had a similar problem like that. it sounds to me like you have the digital audio enabled, and that is cutting sound to one set of your speakers. try seeing if it is disabled or not. it should be in the speaker settings box.

here is a link for you fernando. It has some info for the PC camera Pro Pack. http://support.intel.com/support/createshare/camerapack/pccampro/ or here for the PC camera Pack http://support.intel.com/support/createshare/camerapack/pccam/ and damien he gave plenty of info....and driverguide sucks.

Here is where you can find the latest drivers for that card. (even if it does suck like the one I have in my other computer.) http://www.s3.com/customer_caretechnical_supportdrivers.htm

EM, I have the gameport version so it is a bit different. However does it have drivers in WIN2K or is it just generic drivers?
-
That sounds like you Best bet.....that way you can look at the HCL....my reccomendation for video is the V3 3000...and the sound card recommendation is an Aureal Vortex 2 Super Quad....all OEM of course. (although the Aureal Sound card doesn't have any drivers available yet, but niether does the SBLive! really either.)

I went out yesterday and bought a gamepad pro, without thinking that the drivers for WIN2K were not going to be available. Sure enough I wrote to gravis and got a response today. They said sometime in spring they will have drivers....and so far I have had no luck with it as a 4 button game pad even. I will see what I can figure out and keep u posted.

Without knowing the Mobo chipset exactly(CA810 or SU810), I can only direct you to these 3 sites. Your Graphics chip is definately one of the new intel 810 series built in AGP to the MOBO. and the sound is also integrated into the MOBO. SO for the sound, as near as I can tell (only thing offered is a WINNT 4.0 driver which is iffy)one of these: http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/ca/ca_drive.htm http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/su/su_drive.htm and for graphics(again only winnt4 drivers far as I can tell): http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel810/software.htm My sympathies go out to you. you bought a computer with one of the most useless graphics and sound interfaces, that exsists. and with no AGP expansion solt your pretty much stuck. My best recommendation is to try and sell it off to someone who doesn't care and that wants an easy to use, no brains required computer, for about what you paid. Then go build a custom system.

A little more info. is required.n What sound card is it? what video card is it? once you provide that we may be able to help.

I have a PCI card with a Voodoo Banshee Chipset. Does anyone for see this kind of problem with the banshees' as well? if so I guess I must resign myself to getting a new 3dfx card soon.

there is no fix. These drivers are simply the 2048 drivers (which are compatible with 9x/NT/2000 but aureal hasn't finished testing them yet) with and .inf file put together by someone else. he didn't know how to incorporate the EAX support or the 4 spkr support into the .inf file. and when he found out, he left the .inf packed the way he had it instead of starting over. so wait for the offical release from Aureal, all these features will work right once they release an .inf that is offical.

You need to go and download the latest ASPI drivers from either nero or Adaptec and then your cdrw will be listed and able to work.

All of a sudden, trying to run Nero gives me BSOD!!!!!
Maverick494 replied to Heifetz's topic in Software
Hmmmmm, I just did the update for win2k about 20 min. ago and now at this very moment I am adding a couple files to my CDRW that I use for back up with nero 4.0.8.3 I haven't had any problems with it. -
The only questionable thing that I see is the ISA modem. but you should go and check out the HCL from microsoft and see if all your stuff works.

Thinking of Geforce switch, do new drivers support SMP?
Maverick494 replied to SlaveDog's topic in Hardware
near as I can tell from a couple of previous posts to this board, and the driver info I could get from the Nvidia site, yes they do support SMP. -
I did a little research, and the best I can find is a couple of support sites from the companies with drivers for WINNT which is iffy at best for these to work. but here ya go. http://www.aztech.com.sg/frame_support.htm -about half way down the page it has a link for your SC, and it should have info and a WINNT driver there somewhere. http://www.panasonic.com/host/support/index.html -near the bottom of the page it has a WINNT driver for a 2x CDrom. may or may not work or be compatible. I have direct cd and nero 4.0.8.3 running at the same time as well. While it does warn of imcompatibility when you install nero, there seems to be no conflict that I can find.

My Friend's problems that I can't solve under Win2K
Maverick494 replied to EddiE314's topic in Hardware
Another thing is that when you first install a ISP and it sets up DIAL UP NETWORKING....most of the time it tries to do it like it does for WIN9x which is completely wrong....I found that i had to go and unhide the Dial Up it configured and make a new one with the same settigs except that it uses the modem....mine was intially configured for a LAN connection and not a Modem dial up.
