I got some Mushkin CAS 2 Modules (2:3:2) @ 150 MHz. And I also got some KingMax PC-150 TinyBGA. Isn't there a problem with the BIOS 1003, something about Win2k not seeing the secondary IDE? What is the solution for that again? I forgot...

I am running the same set up right now. Still trying to fix the hang up issue. Usin: Asus A7V (Bios 1004a) CL Geforce DDR (Nvidia 6.31 driver) T-Bird 800 PC150 RAM (set to PC100) SB Live! Card (base driver) As of this writing. I installed Win2k SP1 Via 4in1 Driver MS Pre-SP2 hot fix for Via agp Nvidia 6.31 driver Set Bios - Normal (2x agp) To test the system, I run tests using 3DMark2000. Sometimes the system can run the tests without a problem. But it will still lock up after a while. In general, the system is still unstable when it comes to gamming. This is my 5th day trying to fix the problem. And on my 8+th format. I did tried the AGP Reg Fix. But with that fix you will take a "big" performance hit. I get like a 1900ish score in 3DMark2000. Which is very low with this set up. I understand the system might run stable with the AGP Reg Fix. But don't you want to get what you are "suppose" to get with the parts you bought? What I don't understand is this prolonging problem still hasn't been fully corrected. Just my 2 cents....

I got a stupid question. Why is my graphics adapter properties list the location :PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0. Not AGP? I am using Driver Version : 4.3.0.2102. for my Creative Geforce DDR under Win2k release.

Does anyone have an Intel CC820 M.B.? How is it? I heard bad and good. I understand it has an agp4x slot and 133 bus. That will be great for PIII coppermine and PC133 RAM. But if someone want to use RDRAM what M.B. should one use with a PIII coppermine? How is the VC820?

I am planning on getting a new scsi controller and 10G or so hard drive for my Win2k system. But I don't want to spend too much on them, hopefully some like around $400 dollar or less. Any advice will be great. Thanks

I am sure a few of you guys are wondering the same thing. When you purchase your new new toy for your PC. I suggest you to think hard about what brand you choose. I though I did when i bought my TV card (STB TV PCI-non FM). Well I usually choose the brand very carefully. I picked STB because I was very impressed with their TNT card. They "had" great driver support... But I forgot about one thing. The ever changing PC industry causes many changes. The big change is merger. Company x mergered with company y..... We all heard that before. STB droped all their driver support (update) for their legacy products ever since their merger with 3dfx. Leaving their customers behind. Their TV card driver is 2-3 years old and only work properly with the old 1.88 TNT driver. I can go on and on about this issue. Sad to say, but I guess the only way to learn or get wiser is by making mistakes.

Well I finally gave up my stupid TNT card for a shining new CL Annihilator Pro. And this card do work with my STB TV PCI-non FM. Well under Win98 anyway. But I am a lot happier

Can anyone comment on the speed of your games under Win2k
lunner replied to Neville's topic in Games
In general, my games run slower under Win2k. But that could be the driver that I am using.... no agp support... YET -
Sorry man but the new NTFS file structure is not compatable with fat32. Win 2k "can" read fat32 files but since you installed win2k w/ NTFS that might be a problem. You may be able to reinstall Office2k in your fat32 partition under Win2k then restall under Win9x. It may work but I don't think thats a good idea.

i am using 3.66 TNT driver and the default audio driver. It seems Quake 3 will lock up quite a bit, but not the whole screen. A small part of the screen near the pic of the one of the players would still be redrawed, sound do come out. Then a few secs later the game will refresh itself. kinda like lag. When entering the console to check for error: ....sound initialization..........initializing DirectSound locked hardware. ok ....... Sound Info ..... Sound system is muted. 1 stereo 32768 samles 16 samplebits 1 submission_chunk 22050 speed 0x94b0050 dma buffer Forcing all sounds to 8 bit No background file ............. loading dll file ui. Failed to load dll. looking for qvm. loading vm file vm/ui.qvm. vm file ui compiled to 902626 bites of code ....... What is really weird is that when it locks up if i bring up the console and then close it. The game will be ok. but then it will lock up again in a few secs.. I don't know what else i should do? Plz Help ............ [This message has been edited by lunner (edited 09 January 2000).] [This message has been edited by lunner (edited 09 January 2000).]
