    Partitioning in Windows 2000

Ok, DoSFreak, can you send me that exe file if you have it? The problem is that I CAN'T install it in Windows 2000 so that option won't work for me. If you can, just send it to pbryant@fastlane.net. Maybe, just maybe, now I can set up a dual boot. Pete

    Nvidia Geforce/TNT drivers 3.81

Hmmm. So you get those lockups in Half-Life also eh? Maybe just an incompatibility somewhere. Well, it's good to know it's not just my system. After a while, it gets kind of old thinking it's another one of those "Athlon problems". Right now, I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about getting one of those new KX133 boards like the Asus K7V. I hear that all the AGP problems were corrected. That would eliminate the only problem I really have anymore. Pete

    Nvidia Geforce/TNT drivers 3.81

Well, these drivers are actually more stable in D3D than the 3.66 drivers were for me. The problem is that in OpenGL, the 3.66 drivers are more stable. So, when I play D3D games, I use the nv_mini.sys from the 3.81 drivers and when I play OpenGL games, I use the nv_mini.sys from the 3.66 drivers. That SEEMS to make a difference, but I could be wrong. It's a pain, but I have confidence that Nvidia will correct the problem. Pete

    Nvidia Geforce/TNT drivers 3.81

Hmmm...it seems as though I'm beginning to get random lockups while in Half-Life. It's an OpenGL game and if AGP has been enabled in OpenGL with this driver set, that could be causing it. It'll be fine for a while and then out of the blue I get a lockup. This is all while playing Counter-Strike. I haven't tried any D3D stuff extensively yet, but once I get back into Everquest for a while, I'll get a good long look at D3D and how stable it is in these drivers. I just hope that the progress continues and they just keep getting better and better. These are a HUGE improvement over the ones where I couldn't even navigate through Windows with. Pete

    Nvidia Geforce/TNT drivers 3.81

Since I've posted that last message, I've yet to have a SINGLE lockup. At this point, it looks like Nvidia fixed the problem. Pete

    Nvidia Geforce/TNT drivers 3.81

I've been using them for about 30 minutes now and no lockups like I was getting with any of the drivers after 3.66. That doesn't mean anything though. The lockups were pretty much always random and I could go for a couple of hours or just a couple of seconds. Here's to hoping though! Pete
  7. Try these beta ones. They will hold you over til Aureal thinks theirs are ready. http://saturn.spaceports.com/~a3dfan/w2k/ Pete

Sticky Key's in W2K Poll Survey!!! Please read!!!!

I have the sticky keys problem too. I have it occasionally in Everquest, but nearly constantly in Aliens vs Predator. My keyboard is the Microsoft Internet Keyboard (ps2) and my mouse is the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (usb). Pete

    3.66 only working Win2k Geforce driver ...

I say keep posting them even if you have an Intel system. It seems as though it's a problem with Windows 2000 or the Nvidia drivers and not a hardware problem. For instance, with my Athlon 650 and Gigabyte 7IX, I can run in AGP 2X with sidebanding enabled in Windows 98 all night long, but in 2000, I get random lockups. It's an obvious software problem. I just hope it's corrected before I lose my mind. It's getting awfully annoying not having AGP at all because I keep having to revert back to 3.66. Earlier today, I sent an email to support@nvidia.com telling them of my problem and pointing them to this thread. Maybe something will come of it? I don't know. Pete

Trying to get AOL to work

I'm a beta tester for AOL and there is a new client in testing right now that is fully compatible with NT. If you want, email me and we can set up a way for me to send it to you. My email is cerrakin@usa.net Pete

Those that are having problems with 3.78 drivers

It worked! YAY! Woohooo! I'm now using the 3.78 drivers with the 3.66 mini file thingy. Pete

    3.66 only working Win2k Geforce driver ...

Well, I messed around with mouse pointers. The reason the mouse pointer splits in half when you freeze up is because of the shadow. Turning off the mouse pointer shadow did nothing to alleviate the random lockups though. I'm back to 3.66 now. This really sucks. System: AMD Athlon 650 Gigabyte 7IX 256 MB RAM TNT2 Ultra Sensei

    3.66 only working Win2k Geforce driver ...

I'm having that IDENTICAL problem. I have no idea what to do. I may try changing the mouse pointer and seeing what happens. It may seem stupid, but that cut in half mouse pointer deal is just weird. Whatever works eh? Sensei

    Nvidia 3.76 Drivers

I spoke too soon. I'm getting random lockups again. It's not as often as 3.69 or 3.75, but it does happen. Also, it NEVER happens when I'm playing games. It runs games flawlessly, but just clicking around in Windows it'll freeze. It makes absolutely no sense. Windows doesn't stress anything, but games do...and it doesn't lock in games? Bah! Pete

    Nvidia 3.76 Drivers

The 3.76 drivers don't lock up on me like the 3.69 or 3.75 did. Now, I have absolutely no problems with Windows 2000. I'm so happy. Pete

    3.69 and 3.75 Drivers Lock

For some reason, if I use either the 3.69 or the 3.75 drivers, I get random lockups just sitting at the desktop. I can use 3.66 all night long and it will never ever lock. Is anyone else having these problems and if so, how'd you fix it? BTW, my specs are: AMD Athlon 650 Gigabyte 7IX 160 MB RAM Riva TNT2 Ultra (Xentor 32) Pete

    3.69 and 3.75 Drivers Lock

I have ZERO problems in Windows 98 with my mobo and video card. It is obviously Windows 2000 or the drivers. So no, I'm not going to ditch my Athlon. Sensei

    Final Fantasy VII

Has anyone figured out how to keep it from crashing in Windows 2000? It's really disappointing that the only game that doesn't work for me is this one and it's my favorite. Pete

    Final Fantasy VII

I'm using a Xentor 32 (Riva TNT2 Ultra). You're right about the game may just not work. As a matter of fact, I emailed Eidos Interactive today to see if they had ANY plans to patch the game to make it more stable on 2000 and they said they no longer will support the game. That is really unfortunate considering that the next consumer OS after Millennium will be based on the NT kernel. Chances are, it won't work then either. Sensei
