Anyone can tell me how to install ISA Iomege zip zoom card for SCSI ZIP 100 in W2K? Do i just run Ioware 2.0? I tried installing the generic AHA-Adaptec scsi controller driver(equivalent to zip zoom in W98) from W2K CD and it gives me a blue screen. Thanks!

Have you download the newest ATA66 driver from highpoint-tech.com? I have the exact same setup and here's what i did. 1. Copy drivers into Floppy. 2. Make sure your HD is hook up to ATA33, for now. 3. Clean install W2k, Hit F6 at startup screen will bring you to a menu which you can now select "mass storage device". 4. Insert ATA66 driver floppy and install the HighPoint HPT66 drive, TWICE! (since you have two ATA66 controller on-board) 5. if w2k installation succeed, congrat. now "add hardware" -> Highpoint HPT66 for your two controller, again, but this time in W2K->control panel 6. Reboot and make sure everything's running. (meanwhile your HD still @ IDE33) 7. Shutdown. Plug your HD to ATA66 controller. Reboot. Should work.

I've been reading this thread and seems it's getting out of hand. I think we should all stop trying to single out a member in this forum.. I am not on either sides, I use both 98 and 2K and I like them both. It's just funny to see how a lot of people taking it too seriously about one member's commen. If you don't like what he/she said, just say you don't, how hard is that? Don't you think it's getting a little childish to start making personal comments? I disagree with Quantas that W2K is worse than W2k but that does not mean i have to start flaming. All i see here is just whenever Quantas try to reply to clarify things that he said, ALL of us just won't let him do so but instead keep pouring more gasoline on fire. Chill!

I have the same problem sometimes, while running IE5 or Frontpage 2000. THe screen will just blank out out of nowhere. I still haven't figured out why but adjusting the core voltage made sense, so I'm gonna try that. I have a G400Max so i think the drivers're pretty good.

BlackICE is good too, just that it doesn't support W2k yet (only hack detection no filtering/blocking), that's why i switched to Zonealarm, which is just as good but w2k compatible.

People use windowblinds to create that effect and sure it looks cool, but on a slower machine or a video card with "not as high" refresh rate, you will see some jerkiness when poping up the "start" menu and others. I tried it and it slows down my machine a lot. so forget it.

how can such an awesome program be free?? life is good! : )

probably a dump question... where do i change MPS back to ver 1.1 in the bios? i can't seem to find it..
-
I have a little "exclamation" mark beside the USB driver under device manager, does W2K support USB?
-
ok. thanks.. i thought you don't need to Hard-code an IRQ for USB in the bios for it to work... W98 doesn't need to do that to configure usb.. just a thought. Thanks guys! apv: how'd you know i got bp6?

I did a clean install. W98 will use a compatible Adaptec AHA something scsi driver for the zip zoom card without asking for the Iomega Driver disk. Unfortunately when I tried to install the same adaptec device in W2K, blue screen of death!! Iomega still haven't done anything regarding W2K drivers yet.. i guess we'll just have to wait.

No!!! I am too late!!! *doh* *whisper* Where's this Chameloen forum? -
Eddie, Will it work if I install programs to W2K first then W98? Thanks!
-
Tried. Ioware 2.0 installed but W2k would not detect my zip zoom card.. *doh* if anyone can tell me how to install Zip zoom card that'll be great. Thanks!

I haven't tried it again cuz' I don't want another BSOD. I once heard if I get a blue screen i can always boot at a previous profile. I need to find out if that's true before I try installing my zip again. so stay tuned!

I don't know how to get 4.03 to start up when other users log in rather than Administrator(myself). When i installed 4.03 to either a custom(admin) or system account, Vshield starts normally during admin login. but when i log in as other regular user, it won't load and complains about "Can't write to server folder" or something like that. Any help is appreciated.!

Thanks for the effort nove, I tried what you told me to do, but I got the same result as Jackal.. i was so frustrated so I backed up all my important files and did a clean install on both OS (98 & 2K).. things are ok now. thanks!

thanks mova for all the infomation, really appreciated. I understand the concept of bootsector for both W2K and w98 must be in the same partition c:, that's what i DON'T have. I have bootsector of W98 in one drive and bootsector if W2k in another. Please let me know if this is the way to dual boot it. my config: 1. IBM HD: W98 installed as C:\ when other HD are not connected 2. Quantum HD: W2k installed as C:\ when other HD are not connected Should I do: A. Connect IBM as master c:, and Quantum as slave d:. Boot into c:\W2K and run dos prompt within. and type "c:\bootpart\bootpart 1 BOOTW98.bin W95" OR B. Connect Quantum as master c:, and IBM as slave d:. Boot into c:\w98 dos prompt and type "c:\bootpart\bootpart 1 BOOTNT.BIN WINNT" ? Please let me know, I am confused.. [This message has been edited by k4 (edited 21 January 2000).]

I have Win98 in one HD and W2K in another. They are bootable by themself. How should i modify my boot.ini in W2K in order to make them dual-boot? Thanks!
-
Awaxx.. that's exactly what I am experiencing,( i.e. SHortcut went crazy) since both my drive are bootable. The reason why they are seperately bootable is because the HD were from different computer while installing them, and now I got a new HD for the other computer, I decided to put both old HD into one. Anyways, I reinstalled W2K, now in the same partition as W98 and everything is ok. Thanks! btw, didn't really know how to use bootpart.. i tried it and it screwed up my bootsector..

How do I change the boot.ini? What does each line do specifically? [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect 1. what's multi(0)? disk(0)? rdisk(0)? 2. I how should i modify this boot.ini so that it points to my C: for W2K and D: for W98? Thanks!

Mine is a different case: I have W2k and W98 already installed seperately in a different physical HD. They both can boot up by themselves. What do I need to do to make them dual boot?

hi Streak, i have almost the same config as you do, i have bp6 with BIO 1.21, HPT366 1.22 for W2k. I need some help from you.. Is it true that W2K Pro(final OEM release) will NOT boot from ATA66 drive? Here's my config Quantum KX ATA66 5.4G IBM Deskstar ATA66 13G When I install W2k, I loaded HPT366 drivers twice as required. Installation went fine, but after it finished installing and reboots, it complaints about "Cannot detect boot disk ©". HOw do I boot W2K from my ATA66 drive? Do I really have to make the boot drive ATA33? I asked you these cuz' seems like you were able to boot from your ATA66 drive.. Thanks!
