I have noticed no difference between a Win2k box and a Win2k sp3 box. As for WinXP Sp1 i only noticed about a 3-6fps loss, which might be considered alot, but i could care less, i'll do a major upgrade soon

you could always get an extra ata100 or 133 controller card

ya know, now that i think about it, i believe i had this problem with Q3A except when trying to join from the one computer it would lock up and i'd have to restart, the problem was resolved when i changed NIC's, however, since you said that the nic's work fine i would suggest trying a different pci slot in the affected machine. other than that i dunno what to tell you other than to drop Win98SE (its gay) and move to WinXP.

how are you two networked? crossover? Hub? try different cables try removing both nic's from the device manager of both machines, restarting and reinstalling the nic's and home network make sure both of you are on the same workgroup

well, its still dumb, i like Mozilla though too, Nescape kinda blows, here's a tip, when NS7 asks your age, say 13 or younger, this will stop most of the spam and other Netscape crap.

cd key's don't matter on a lan game, there's no WON server to authenticate with, i could be wrong, but it's never mattered when i use the same cd key

not providing the right voltage and amperage for the amp/subs will kill the voice coil on the subs and maybe even the amp, i've used the battery/charger method before to test some stolen merchandise, but never to use it as a home stereo system, if i were you i'd just go buy a stereo reciever rather than try to use a car amp, thats kinda ghetto, don't you think?

ph, and is it possible to raise the FSB on that board to OC the cpu? to my knowledge it's not cause the 440bx incorporated the 100MHz fsb right? 6.5 x 133 would yield a nice 865MHz and take advantage of your ram better. just a thought.

$350-$400 is definatly a good price, the 440BX chipset is one of my fav's it's probably still fast with that ata133 controller and gf2 ti

i can't remember what it was, it was like 2yrs ago on a win98 laptop, it's probably different now, i'll look around for it and post my results. i'm not really worried about it on my current laptop, it IS annoying though.

have you used an alternate display method lately? reason i ask is because i used the tv out on my laptop and now my bios and startup screen are being displayed at 640x480, when the welcome screen comes up, its back to normal, i dunno why it does it, happened in 98 once and i believe i changed a registry key, can't remember though.

M4Carbine: I agree with you on the whole weapons thing, my fav weapon in UT was the flak cannon, in UT2003 the changed the secondary fire for it, so now the distance for the projectile is now shortened, or at least it seems. The lightning guns is kinda gay, but pretty cool, i would have also opted for a sniper rifle. and i hate the rocket launcher now, seems like it takes a bit longer to lock on to targets with it. Other than that i think its a great game.

i believe you have to burn the image of the floppy to the cd. never tried but i'm sure it would work. floppies blow anyway, if i had a nickel for every floppy disk that has been corrupted i'd be a rich man....well, a man with a big bag of nickels anyway.
