i hear you there Brian, i bought a GF2 MX cause it was on sald for $125 at a retail store, never had a problem with it and i get at lest 100fps in quake 3, so i'm happy. your limit is about the same as mine for the same reason, i have a life to live and bills to pay, and being broke like i am doesn't leave extra $$$ for a $600 video card.

i have my floppy unhooked right now, told the bios there was no floppy enable "report no floppy win95", no problems, but i'll have to hook it back up to install win2k again when i need to, i got an ABit VH6 and it won't boot from the cdrom. I tell it that i was it to boot the cdrom first, hdd0 second, it won't do it, it just goes right to the hard drive i'm running win2k pro sp1, plextor plexwriter as secondary slave and a pioneer dvd rom as the secondary master, can anyone help me with this? you get a pretty case

i ran it on a 333mhz with 64mb ram when i first got my hands on it before it went rtm, it ran fine, took forever and a day to start and Windows never stopped dipping in the Pagefile space, but other than that it ran fine...well, ok it didn't, but it ran. i really want to try it on a 133 with 64mb ram like ms says the minimum requirements are.

didn't i show you screenshots and crap a week ago or so?

$100usd without the water heater running all of the time, no clue as to how much 4 computers running non-stop will add to it.

run fdisk choose the drive with 2000 on it delete the Non-Dos partition make a new partition restart format the newly created partition boom! that help??
-
dude, if you low level format your hard drive there's a chance that you'll fu*k up you landing zones and crap, but hey, don't listen to me, go ahead and do it, when you turn your 30gb hard drive into a 2.4gb hard drive OR fu*k it up totally then don't come back crying to us.

<rant> Personally, the switch from Win9x to Win2k was nothing, i had no problem adapting to the new UI and driver system (probably cause i used NT4 many of times), but i wouldn't even advise anyone to use Win2k unless they read up on it first and find out what they're getting into. As for RAM, 64MB will run some games, if you start getting into games like Deus Ex and UT then you'll soon discover that they'll barely run unless you have 192MB ram, even if you have a 700MHz cpu, and a GeForce 2 Ultra, some people will still notice UT Engine based games stuttering and hanging for a second or two if they have 128MB ram, for most people a jump from 128 to 192 will fix this and a jump to 256 would fully cure it. I advise NT Newbies to get as much ram as possible and run win2k, cause they're gonna be the ones in here b1tching and whining that their computers run slow and that Win2k sucks, all because they didn't get enough ram in the first place leaving them only one person to blame.....themselves. </rant>

Cody: its always good to wait and not just jump on the bandwagon and hurry up and get WinXP, when i first got Win2k before it was released it sucked because half of my hardware didn't work, after awhile though drivers were released (except by creative labs....bastards!). I think you should wait man, you're getting that Duron this Friday and i hope you get more RAM, as said before i advise 192-256 at least to function properly (Win2k). As for WinXP, jdulmage or another tester will have to inform you as to how much ram you'll want to have if you decide to make the switch from Win2k to WinXP.

strange, if i have ACPI PC my sound is fine, if i'm using Standard PC the sound has pops in it.

gonna have to agree with HN about the Creative drives. Friend had one, lets just say... ...well, i won't say it here but you get the idea

Well, if your card wasn't mfd in the last year or two and Creative is doing the driver support then you're screwed man, wait....Creative Labs and Driver Support??!? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. -
yea, nothing beats that post of yours.
