WOOHOO!!! FORMAT AND REINSTALL EVERY MONTH. thats why i said to remove communication devices I.E. Modem/NIC, how would it connect to the MS Servers then? It couldn't. If it crippled itself after 30days just cause i didn't give it an internet connection, thats bullsh1t, i'll use Linux or stick with Windows 2000 (best $300 i ever paid).

who cares about UT Crashing when you quit it, "quit" means you're done with it right?? Do what CUViper says and get more ram, if that doesn't fix it, wait for Whistler or Win2k SP2.

how are you installing it? booting the win2k cd or the win2k floppies?

been using VDMSound for some time now.

its not like the Whistler CD can remember the machine ID, just install whistler without any modems or nics of any kind, then after the install is complete then add the new hardware, jdulmage, could you explain this in greater detail??

it should touch the pad, i, however, advise that you use thermal grease between the hsf and the cpu.

running win2k pro, sp1, dx8. whenever i try to play a game the computer just locks up, i run dxdiag, it freezes also, i reset the computer and re-run dxdiag, it tells me that there may have been a problem with DirectDraw last time i ran dxdiag, it asks me if i want to bypass it, if i choose NO, then it freezes, if i choose YES it works fine, i cannot play any games, i.e. Half-Life, Quake III, etc. I've reinstalled DX8 at least 10 times with no success, it says there's no problems but i disagree. i agree, even if i have 1 bad sector, i toos the drive, i feel that the bad sectors just get bigger and bigger.

Whistler 2410 is Beta, don't expect all of your hardware to work as if it were the gold version. Don't really know what to tell you, wait for the Retail version of Whistler i guess.

word has it that 2416 has been released. so is it Beta 2?

are they NT4 drivers? if so, chances are that they won't work. does Kodak's website give any info about win2k and your cam? have you e-mailed Kodak's tech support?

just chill man, i know how you feel, i was a little frustrated when i first used win2k a year and a half ago, try tweaking your pagefile size, if you have a VIA chipset, there are some issues with the ..686A southbridge that have not been resolved yet, and probably never will be, is your file system FAT32 or NTFS? NTFS's a bit faster and more reliable. There are alot of articles on win2k tweaks on the web, do a search here on NTCompatible and on the web also, you're bound to find something that will help you. be a little more specific on the issues you are having, it's quite difficult for me to help you when you don't explain things in detail.

well, i just had some sorta issue with DX8 and DirectDraw, had to format and reinstall.

reinstalled win2k, running det. 6.34, dx7, no problems.
