man, who cares about the damned controller!? i don't know about you or anyone else but i am able to "adapt". If it bothers you that much, don't buy an XBox, or just wait for a company like Mad Catz to release a controller with an "+" directional pad, i'm sure it won't run you more that $30 US.

been having that problem as well, i got an ABit VH6 with an overclocked 667 Celeron and a GeForce 2, there's a patch you can download from the microsoft site under windows 2000 downloads, i'll post a link as soon as i find it again.

yea, i've noticed hardly any difference with divx and ms mpeg4, i personally think i get a better frame rate when i encode with mpeg4.

thats a pretty good setup, sounds like it'll run Win2k fine, i dual boot Win2k and WinME, i've never had any problems with Win2k EVER!

most of the time (in my experience) i have discovered that its not the lack of cooling or overclocking that heats up the system, its the cd/dvd roms, hard drives, lack of space in the case that makes it hot as hell, i suggest you get an Alpha cooler for your computer or at least rig up a ventilation system to run air through/across the inside of the system.

Windows ME works fine for me too, i think its the most stable of the Win9x's.

its all a matter of personal preference, out of the win9x os's, i pick Win98FE and WinME, out of the WinNT's I pick Win NT5 (2000). but don't agree or disagree with me, like i said, its personal preference, sorta like Pepsi or Coke....or Chevy or Ford....or Bush or Gore... See what I mean?

had the same problems with my old bp6 setup: bp6 - dual cel 400@523MHz 256MB pc100 ---------- try clocking them back to 366 then if that doesn't work, put a house-fan beside the comp and have it blow air at HIGH in the comp. that should stop it if it's a heat issue.

Are the rips in .asf or .avi format? i've had that same problem with ASF rips
