    5.13 drivers...A far fetched theory...

though i truely doubt that the new drivers overclock the cards, it is very possible and your list of problems do backup your theory, i haven't used those particular drivers, but after reading your post, i am very curious as to what happens with my TNT with those...if they'll work with my TNT. I am going to shut down now and swap out my voodoo3 and put in my TNT right after I download those drivers. I'll get back to you with my opinions of the drivers and tell you if i have any of those problems on the list. -EddiE314 [This message has been edited by EddiE314 (edited 05 April 2000).]

    Direct X on Windows 2000

Yeah, if you can navigate your way around: "Please perss 1 for blah blah.." there's like 500 of those things, i think you win like $1000 if you can get through the maze of button presses, and the "1" live rep. tell you that you've won.

    Rouge Spear Exits to desktop

dude, SafeDisk is copy protection so you can't play a copied version of the game, if you own and use the actual copy then SafeDisk doesn't apply.

ok, just for you, i took out my voodoo3, put in my TNT and installed the 3.81 drivers, uninstalled RS, reinstalled it and tried it, it wouldn't work. I then ran MPlayer and went to the lobby, it told me it needed to be updated, so i did (seemed like about 4MB) after that the game ran fine. Hope that helps.

    Direct X on Windows 2000

Well, Thirdly won't work, Microsoft Assistance? Thats an oxymoron if i ever did hear one. Just reinstall win2k overtop of itself, DirectX8 will be out in a little while so just hold tight.

    Flashing BIOS..dos prompt

you need a DOS boot disk, such as one that came w/ win98, or you could use the win98 CD, just go into the bios and change the boot sequence to "CDROM,C,A" and restart with the cdrom in the master drive. then pull up the B:, i know its supposed to be A: but the win98 cdrom makes a: a RAMdisk with dos utilities, so whatever you have in the floppy drive is B:, just put the bios update on a blank floppy, thats how i do it.

SOUND PROBLEMS IN THE SIMS! PLEASE HELP!

ok, first of all, do you have an actual copy or a ripped one, second, what kind of sounds problems are they and when do they occur? I had a few sound problems right after i installed the adult-censor.cmx file, i removed it and it still happened, i had to uninstall and then reinstall, just backup your export and skins folders before you uninstall, then just put all of the ".fam" files in the IMPORT folder after the reinstall and you'll have all of you houses and families back. I'll try to help as much as i can but try to be more specific

  18. Oh my God CycloneFr, you just solved the biggest mystery of the millennium!! Who would have thought that the new version of DX7 would be a little different from the one installed on win2k already? There's no difference anyway between the two, did you ever think that one OS is an NT based and the other was a 9x based? There are differences let me remind you. man, listen, win2k comes right out of the box with DX7 installed, who gives a sh1t if its DX7a or not? Hey, i got a copy of DirectX 9e (6.800.000.000.100.450.000.kiss.my.a$$.000.1a) Want it? Have a Nice Day. [This message has been edited by EddiE314 (edited 03 April 2000).]

TheSims and Windows 2000 locks up

Copied from www.thesims.com The game crashes and dumps me out to my desktop. What can I do? I get an error message: “Invalid page fault in module unknown” or “Invalid page fault in module Sims.exe.” What now? What do I do if my computer locks up on the loading screen or in the game? End any background tasks in order for the game to run stably: -Hold [Ctrl] and [Alt] and then tap the [Delete] key. This should bring up the "Close Programs" window. -Highlight an unnecessary application and press "End Task". -Repeat this procedure to close any other programs (excluding "Explorer" and "Systray") Disable any anti-virus and/or crash guard software you have running. Lower the video hardware acceleration to “basic”: - Right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties" - Pick the "Performance" tab - Choose "Graphics" - Lower “hardware acceleration” to basic. Try selecting "game compatible device" or "use any available device" from the multimedia control panel. Make sure that your desktop is set to at least 800x600, 16-bit high color and that you are using the latest driver for your sound and video cards. If your drivers are out of date or lack DirectX 7 support, there is a workaround: - You'll need to modify the shortcut to The Sims. Browse to the Program Files\Maxis\The Sims directory (or whatever directory you've installed the game to), right click on Sims.EXE and drag it to your desktop, and select "Create Shortcut(s) Here". - Once you have the shortcut on your desktop, right-click on it and select Properties. - In the ‘Target’ field it should say: "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Sims.exe" (or the path to whichever folder it’s installed to). - Add the following to the end of the “Target” line: “-nodx6 -skip_verify -skip_intro -w” If the game still crashes, you may be having sound problems. As a last resort, add “ -nosound” to the desktop shortcut as well.

TheSims and Windows 2000 locks up

Okay, i have a Dual boot system with Windows 2k pro and Win98, i restarted in win98 and installed the Sims, Played ok but it too locked up after about 70minutes as opposed to playing it in win2k it locked up in about half that time if not less. I really don't know what the problem is. I ruled out the possibility of it being a heat problem because i moved my voodoo3 pci to the bottom-most pci slot and put my ethernet card and DVD decoder card above it, CPU1 runs at about 95F which is pretty good considering it only has a common fan/heatsink combo on it and its overclocked from 400 to 550MHz, I tried clocking both cpu's back down to 400. And it still froze in win2k AND win98. I got desperate and installed the v1.1 patch but guess what?? IT STILL LOCKED UP! I've also tried other cards, including: a Banshee and a TNT. Yup, thats right..still locked up. I'm going to go and get the latest voodoo3 drivers to see if it helps but i seriously doubt it. Please, if you have this problem too, feel free to post a reply. maybe we can all find a common problem we all have, thus maybe solving this problem. Thank you.

TheSims and Windows 2000 locks up

Answer this..... I installed the v1.1 patch, then none of the cheat codes would work, I had to uninstall and reinstall the game, anyone else have this problem? Also, on the bottom of the box it states: Operating System: Windows 95 or 98 (Windows NT is not supported) CPU Type/Speed: 233MHz or faster Intel Pentium CPU. Memory: 32 MB RAM HDD Space 300 plus space for saved games and windows swap file Graphics Card: High Color (800x600) 2mb or higher with directdraw compat. driver. CDROM Speed: 4x CDROM or higher Other Needs: DirectX7 Compat. snd card, keyboard, mouse. [This message has been edited by EddiE314 (edited 03 April 2000).]
