I agree, i also believe that it screws your registry, i formatted4 times with 98 because of it.

go to Control panel/power options/APM and turn on APM, try that.

Whenever I startup Windows, it loads like normal up until after the taskbar and systray loads, after that it just hangs and if i let it go, i have to wait like 5 minutes for the icons to appear or if i choose Shut Down from the start menu, the icons just suddenly appear, while its hanging i cannot click or right click on the desktop, it did this before i formatted and did another clean install, i thought maybe that would help...it did...for awhile. Also just a litle annoyance, how do i keep the StartMenu/Programs from hiding my applications from me which makes me click on the little chevron (down arrow) thingy to expand them, it also does it with my favorites in IE 5. Thanks ----====System Specs====---- Abit BP6, Dual Cel.PPGA 400@550, 256MB PC100, 13 GB Hard Drive, Banshee AGP, Realtek 10base-T, Creative DVD Decoder PCI, Int.Iomega ZIP 100, 5xDVD, Win2K Pro. oh, about my second question in this post, sorry, i didn't see that it was already addressed a few hours earlier.

I was wondering if it is possible to run a Creative Labs Blaster Banshee and a Creative Labs Blaster Voodoo2 in SLI mode. Thanks.

Ok cool, thanks Seldzar, i thought of raising it a little, i just wanted to check with someone else first.
-
if your board supports it....go for it go 433@500 or more
-
I would also like to know.

Well Said Seldzar. You have a way with words man. While we're on the subject of processor cooling and stuff, i just bought an AMD K6-2 400 and some VIA chipset motherboard, I have had hardly any luck overclocking it, my goal is 450 but I can only get it to go to about 424 or so. The MB goes up to 5.0 x 100MHz, and I have 64MB SDRAM PC100. When I set it for 450 or 500 it just sits there with a blank screen, should I raise the voltage? Any suggestions would be nice, especially you Seldzar. Also, it will be on a Win2K machine as soon as i get 64MB more RAM.

Good point ByronT about the OS being out of memory.

go for two Celeron 400 PPGA's and an ABit BP6 MB......the celerons are $75 ea. and the MB is like $160
-
you might have to wait for the Manufacturers to come out with drivers for it for win2k, maybe after Feb 17th

now that i think about it, with that much RAM it would be a good idea just to zero out the swap file size, the RAM x 2.5 thing was for computers with like 32-64mb's. sorry
-
i have no clue, i remember in whe win98 days i was told it should be: RAM x 2.5 = Best swap size. I dunno about win2k, if anyone has any suggestions about it i'd love to hear it. And as far as making a RAMDisk and using that as the swap file, it would actually slow down the computer, I have tried it before.

First of all, some people don't like their damned computer overheating and locking up, thats why they use CPUIdle, maybe they don't like spending $50 each on a Peltier or two. Its not a useless app at all, its a great cooling tool if you have Windows 2000 and more than one processor and excellent if you overclock. Windows 2000 does the same thing with one CPU automatically. That's cool ASiDiE, i love my BP6, as far as single processors and dual processors go.....i'm never going back to a single.

I have an Abit BP6 too (the best) Dual Celeron 400's 400 @ 550 Abit BP6 MB 256MB sdram pc 100 Voodoo Banshee AGP I use two Peltier Coolers on mine, both the processors run at about 31C without CPUIdle Pro, I tried to use it but i had not effects, i guess because of the Coolers, but if you have a dual processor system, CPUIdle is a must have. The only thing i wanna cool is the damned Banshee, i swear it must run at 50C, i ripped off the crappy heatsink and managed to put a Socket 7/370 fan/heatsink combo on it and it still runs hot, its not overclocked or anything. If anyone has any suggestions I'd welcome them with open arms. I don't wanna spend anymore cash on another Peltier cooler just to butcher it and put it on the Banshee.

Just a question. Are there any Win2k compatable drivers that would work with my Creative PD DVD Inlay Decoder Card? I hate the fact that i have to boot into Win98se just to watch a DVD.

I'm running dual Celeron 400a's with an ABit BP6 MB, 256mb sdram, asus v6600 geforce256, and needless to say it works great. I also have an AMDk62 400, crappo MB, 64mb sdram, and a riva tnt, it runs fine for me with 64mb of ram, i'll be adding 64mb more later. 64mb works fine.....if you're sirfing the web and running MS Word 2k or something.....at least use 128mb man, you'll see a huge difference. Don't ever listen it Micro$oft's requirements .........EVER.
