My hard drive is relatively new, an IBM 30.0 GB 7200 ultra ATA 100 drive, and its been perfectly fine for me until recently. Scandisk and Norton Disk Doctor show nothing, so I may just re-install.

Whenever I try to play MPEG-1 videos, my system plays them very horribly...the video is jerky, and the sound is very slow (voices sound really deep, and cant understand anything). Is there anything I can do to fix it??

Got it...Thanx!!

Yup, thats my board. If anybody knows the entry, they'll make me a happy man.

Ok, now Windows ME is out...any idea when MS is gonna release DirectX 8.0 for the rest of their line (2k, 9x, etc)?? From what I've seen, its a hell of a lot better than 7....

First off, what are you using for a soundcard, and second, what are you using for speakers. I'm using a SB Live Value and the DTT2500 theater system, and I just run the RCA Out to the receiver that comes with the system and set it to AC3 on the DXR3. If you set it to 4 point, you'll prolly need a Live.

I recently got a APC BackUPS Office 350 and attached it to my com1 port via the serial cable provided. However, my system thinks that it running on battery and attempts to shutdown the system, and usually does. I've tried both Powerchute plus 5.2.1 and the native Windows 2k UPS manager, and both do the same thing. Any ideas on how to fix this problem??

You may want to try the forums over at www.counter-strike.net

RJ-11 Male ends will connect to RJ-45 Female ends with no problem, and will work fine if the setup is done correctly. I've done this all summer long, and it has worked perfectly.

I'm curious to know how many machines are on your network, and their status on it (child domain controllers, or just workstations). I've found that to decrease the amount to time you have to wait, I had to turn off all the child domain controllers.

About the fresh install....I just did an install right beside my current install of Windows 2000 Professional, and the only problem is when you reboot into the other OS, for some reason it gets all messed up (something to do with the swap file or NTFS drives I believe). Other than that, no problems.

Although this question has probably been asked, I'm curious about the pros/cons of ACPI. I've heard both good and bad from my friends, but I'm curious to hear what you all think. I turned it off the other day, and 2k went nuts redetecting all my hardware and stuff...and since then, Diablo II has BSOD'd right before after the opening videos. Also on a side note...I have a Viper 770 Ultra, and I'm using the 5.30 drivers, forcing it to use the Ultra driver. Does it really matter whether or not it uses the regular tnt2 or the tnt2 ultra drivers? I did notice that my monitor is no longer able to go into standby...actually, never has since I've used the detonators for 2k. My system: Tyan Tsunami 1830S Intel Pentium II 400 320 MB PC-100 RAM Maxtor 13.1 GB and WD 8.4 GB Hard Drives Creative Labs PC-DVD Encore 6x kit w/beta DXR3 Drivers Creative Labs Live! Value w/Live!Ware 3.0 for Windows 2000 Intel Inbusiness 10/100 Ethernet Adapter Adaptec AIC-7850 SCSI-2 Controller Yamaha 6x4x16 SCSI-2 CDRW Diamond Viper 770 Ultra w/Detonator 5.30 (TNT2 Ultra driver) Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 1, RC 1.59 Well, thats about it.

I'm looking for a program that will remove DirectX 8.0 beta and bring me back to 7.0, which is native to 2000...
-
So far, so good here! ------------------

I'm currently using 5.30 of the Detonators...should I switch to the newer ones, keep these, or revert to older ones? I'm looking for best performance with my TNT2 Ultra.

I installed the drivers over the workaround, and at first it worked right, then it began to reboot my system when I tryed to play a DVD. So I then removed all the applications and stuff from add/remove programs, removed the driver, rebooted, then proceeded to start from scratch. Since then, it's worked perfectly, the passthrough to my DTS2500 system still works perfectly (no need for the Live! even tho I have one) and I play the DVDs through Playcenter. No problems with Windows Media Player 7 beta that I didnt have previously...so far, so good...oh, btw...I'm running this on a PII-400, SB Live! Value, Diamond Viper 770 Ultra with Detonator 2 drivers, SP1 beta 1, and DX8 beta.

Argh! I have to reboot after I exit Diablo 2 in order to start the game back up without it freezing...Is this some problem with tnt2s...I thought it was the directx8 beta I installed...I guess not.

Somebody mentioned you needed hands like ET's to reach the buttons on the side of the mouse...well, he's wrong. The mouse is the first mouse I've found that'll fit my large hands. This mouse for me is like a dream mouse--it fits my hands perfectly. Of course, this means that the rest of you small-handed people have to suffer with the other, smaller, regular copies. Whatever the case, the Intellieye is awesome.

How hard can it be? Probably a lot harder than we think...23 million lines of code and all......thats a lot of code, and I'm sure they'll fix this soon...I'm getting tired of the sticky mouse/keys problem....

I've installed the 5.14 drivers after using the 5.13 drivers for a while, and I've had no problems running CS with them. Specs: Diamond Viper 770 Ultra Intel Pentium II 400 Tyan Tsunami 1830S/SL 256MB PC100

I recently upgraded my system from 128 to 256 mb ram, and the performance difference in UT was awesome. Running it on a TNT2 Ultra under direct3d has given me no lag and very little load times (with the 4.05+ patches) under 2000....the extra RAM made all the difference in the world

I recently redid my installation of Win2k Pro, and when I installed my NVidia drivers, I lost the ability to choose my monitor type, and as a result, it will not power down. Is there any way other than a 3rd-party program (which I've tried and didnt work) to get this to work correctly?

I've not been able to, unfortunately....if you can help me out with this, it'd be appreciated...

I have the same drive you do (or so it seems) and I've not updated my ver of ECC4 Deluxe and it works fine....I guess I'll forgo the update....
