The mail files are stored in "Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{user key}\Microsoft\Outlook Express". The dbx files have all of the email... you can copy them over the files in ME and then open outlook express. I'm not sure where they are stored in ME though. Also, make sure you backup any files you overwrite, so you can restore them when you are done... Or, to try to restore the XP stuff, boot off the XP cd and see if it can repair or refresh the installation.

The point of the Geforce3 is not so much higher framerates than before, but that it can do more advanced features while maintaining the same framerate. If all you play is older games like CS, than of course you won't see a difference, but when you play the latest and greatest games, the features of the gf3 really shine!

I don't know if it will help, but try removing compatibility mode and using the file I posted in this thread: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19258 It is a more proper fix...
-
Glad I could help.... Phillip, would you please update the compatibility list with this fix? And if you could, it would be better to host that file on NTComp's server, because I can't guarantee that it will always be on my server. It's really small (426 bytes). Let me know....

Hehe, no problem. That one tripped me up the first time I saw it too....
-
Try double-clicking on the edge.... sometimes it gets stupid like that.

This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with sound guys - what you are looking at is a bit of x86 machine code (assembly). "eax" is a 32-bit register on the processor, and has NOTHING to do with the sound card. Registers are where the processor stores bits of data right before performing an operation on them. There's really not a whole lot you can do to troubleshoot this, without having access to the source, and even then it would be hard since I'm pretty sure CS wasn't written in assembly. But your best bet for resolving this would be to send it along to the developers...

oops, shows how closely I read your post - Recovery console froze? How about if you act like you're gonna do a new install, and then on the part where it asks where you want to put it, delete the partition on the corrupted drive....
-
If you are just planning to reformat the drive, and don't need to try to recover the data, you could boot off the WinXP CD to format and/or repartition it.

Down with the cross-posting!!!! See my response to your problem here: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=88314&t=8829#post88314

Here's a link on the ICQ page that tells what you need to do, but basically you will have to set the router up to forward ports to your computer. http://www.icq.com/icqtour/firewall/netadmin.html Specifically, pay attention to the "listening ports".

right... what i am saying is, for instance, in AIM disable the built-in option for it to load on startup. Then, for the accounts that DO want it to load on startup, put a shortcut in the "startup" folder of that particular user.
-
Well, I don't know any real way to separate them like you are saying, but you can sort of do it by manipulating the shortcuts. For instance, you could put a shortcut to AIM in their individual startup folders, in "\Documents and Settings\User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup". You will have to do this for every such program, but it should work. If you can get it set up with user accounts, that will be much better than having different os's, for a few reasons: you don't have to reboot to switch between users; critical updates and such only have to be applied once; software that should be shared among all of them only needs to be installed once; etc.

Well, I have the official creative drivers, and there is an option in the creative recorder for 48kHz. So I imagine it will work for your stuff too....

I replied to your other post here. And in the future, please don't post twice about the same topic... especially not in the same section! This is worse than cross-posting....

You can use the chkntfs command: Code: C:\>chkntfs /? Displays or modifies the checking of disk at boot time. CHKNTFS volume [...] CHKNTFS /D CHKNTFS /T[:time] CHKNTFS /X volume [...] CHKNTFS /C volume [...] volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name. /D Restores the machine to the default behavior; all drives are checked at boot time and chkdsk is run on those that are dirty. /T:time Changes the AUTOCHK initiation count down time to the specified amount of time in seconds. If time is not specified, displays the current setting. /X Excludes a drive from the default boot-time check. Excluded drives are not accumulated between command invocations. /C Schedules a drive to be checked at boot time; chkdsk will run if the drive is dirty. If no switches are specified, CHKNTFS will display if the specified drive is dirty or scheduled to be checked on next reboot. C:\>

Well, a rhombus is a geometric shape with four sides, and every side is the same length..... You mean Rambus, of course.... here's an article you can look into: SDRAM vs. RDRAM. And no, you can't just switch between them, because your motherboard will only support one or the other.

Are you running any programs that detect your internet connection, or try to make a connection as soon as you get on? For example, ICQ and Getright both monitor your internet connectivity. If you are running a program like this, try disabling it, and see if the problem then goes away.

This is due to deleting the gimme.dll file. Put the gimme.dll back (you might have to reinstall the game), then download this file and run it. That file has the qfixapp settings to fix the swapping problems properly.

are you guys running Creative's latest XP drivers? They had new ones at the beginning of the month....

www.antivirus.com has an online utility to scan for viruses... you might get better results with that.

Hehe.... vBulletin bleeped out the domain in your link CKM.... www.****.org won't get you very far! For those who are too lazy to guess, those stars should be the f-word. 8)

It sounds to me like what you really want is to be able to dual-boot.... here's a guide to help you with that: Full Guide to OS Dual Booting If you want to know how to have both hard drives hooked up to the computer at the same time, look in your hard drive manual for master/slave settings, and follow the instruction there. Since you admit to being a newbie, you might want to find a friend who can show you how to do this stuff. We could give you all the tips in the world, but it will probably be more helpful for you to see it done... Good luck!

Look here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/professional/howtobuy/upgrading/path/default.asp The problem is, WinME came out after Win2k, so Win2k won't be able to recognize the existing system files and interpret the system settings in order to make the upgrade. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, since I haven't tried it myself (I wouldn't touch ME with a 10-foot pole), but I think the FAQ is wrong on that one. I guess theoretically it would be possible to patch the Win2k installation program to tell it what to do, but I haven't heard of this being done...
