"Remote Desktop Connection" will allow you to connect to a Terminal Services enabled server, as well as other WinXP clients (assuming they have that option enabled, of course). As far as I can tell, it's not "watered down" at all...

putty is the best one I have found - and you can use it from the command prompt using plink (putty link). Here's the documentation of the syntax: http://www.tartarus.org/~owen/putty-docs/Chapter5.html#5 Just in case others want to try putty, here's their homepage: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

Quote: If they knew the cards would still be bought/used in the future it should never have been allowed to buy the company out without taking over the responsebility of support as well... As has been said here many times, nvidia did NOT 'buy out' 3dfx.... nvidia purchased the right to 3dfx's intellectual assets, and then 3dfx, still responsible for their products and support, went out of business.

they're under the 'windows components' section of the add/remove programs

a hacker won't attack your system because he knows you or anything - they're not gonna say "hey look, GH_Hope is running at ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, I should attack him"... What they will typically do is scan a range of IP addresses to find running computers, and then try to see what those computers have on them. Or if they're the nasty type, they might try exploit your system by placing a trojan on it or something.

it tells me that they are not valid font files - I also tried downloading it from other sites, and got the same result. Other fonts work fine though....

How do i install a IDE controller card (PCI) to work with XP
CUViper replied to Netslayer's topic in Hardware
You probably need to enable SCSI boot in your bios - I know it's not really SCSI, but that's how most bios' treat add-on IDE cards. If that still fails, you may need to modify the boot.ini. It will have a line like 'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS', and since it's on a different controller now, that 'multi' number is gonna have to change. The best way to do this is to boot off the windows cd and tell it to repair the boot sector. Hope this helps - please keep us updated..... -
The built in firewall works extremely well against incoming connections (scan on grc.com shows NO evidence of a computer at my IP), but it has no functionality for restricting outbound traffic. So depending on what you need from a firewall, it may work well for you...

You know what I'd like to see? Real Glide drivers for my GeForce2! I know, there's wrappers out there.... but an 'official' wrapper from nvidia or a real driver would be awesome....

There's a little button there that looks like an arrow - that will reveal "inactive icons". If you don't like that feature, right click on the taskbar and go to properties. There is a checkbox for "hide inactive icons".

Personally, I like the new Media Player (though I still use WinAMP for mp3's). The newest divx codec (4.01) allows for divx playback in Media Player too, so that isn't an issue anymore.

Cant delete or rename local folders once I've changed anythi
CUViper replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Software
Quote: no, cause i can rename or delete before i start altering stuff... Right - Before you alter anything, programs like virus scanners or the indexing service have no need to look at that directory. Once you start changing files in that directory, then those programs have to examine the files.... I'm not saying that this IS the reason why you are having that problem, but I think it's a good possibility, and worth looking into... -
Cant delete or rename local folders once I've changed anythi
CUViper replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Software
There must be some program running that has the directory open.... for example, I find that if i download something with getright and then try to delete that directory, it won't let me. In this case, getright seems to have the directory open even after it has finished the download. If I close Getright, it will then be free to be deleted. So the trick is to find out which program is hanging out in the directory. Virus scanners come to mind to me, or maybe even the indexing service, if you have that turned on... -
Quote: How about newer motherboards that support SD/RD RAM, will they accpet older EDO RAM (60ns) or would they fry them up? again, 3.3v buffered ECC EDO 168 pin DIMM??? No can do - they're not fast enough to keep up with the system bus. A 100MHz bus by definition requires 10ns RAM, and a 133MHz bus needs 7.5ns.

wiht NT4 you had to reinstall, but with Win2k (and most likely WinXP as well) you can just do as Brian said...

Always ask before opening this type of file - downloading
CUViper replied to IZeGuy's topic in Customization & Tweaking
This happened once to me and I deleted a couple of entries in the registry that fixed it - try here: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Media\MimeTypes Delete entries dealing with files you are having trouble with. Restart IE and try your download again....
