Do any of those cards have Direct3D support? If so, you could try using a Direct3D-to-OpenGL wrapper....

double click on the edge of the window, should fix you right up

Cynan, the tweak you provided only helps for browsing the shares on a specific computer, not for getting the list of computers. Not that you didn't help though, as I did apply your tweak, ad it does indeed speed up looking at win9x computers.... [This message has been edited by CUViper (edited 19 March 2001).]

Hey guys.... my boss asked me to help him with this one, and I can't figure it out for the life of me.... He just bought an Asus v7700 Deluxe, and we can't Direct3D or DirectDraw working on it. OpenGL works fine on it, but in dxdiag it says that Direct3D and DirectDraw are unsupported. I have tried quite a few different drivers (latest from asus, as well as nvidia reference 6.50, 7.52, and 10.80) with no change. I also updated him to DirectX 8a, which also didn't help anything. He formatted and installed 2k fresh after he put the card in, so please don't just tell me to re-install. Any ideas?

Just an update in case someone else ever has this problem - doing as Spawn suggested did indeed fix the problem. It's weird, since netmeeting had never been used on that system before, but regardless, it works now...

errr.... the question mark there should be replaced with the drive letter that the game is installed on.

porsche works just fine for me.... the fix most commonly required is to delete the gimme.dll file, and then it works normally

There's a search feature of this forum, and you should be able to find the answers you seek there. Search the forums, let us know what you try, and then we'll see if we can help.

actually, nonags currently has build 2446 for download - don't cry though if you sign up and don't see it, as they don't leave the betas up for very long. It's not as though they guarantee anything, but they have been very cool about getting the betas out in decent time

You are mistaken HarU - UT does have opengl support; it is just secondary to direct3d. Unreal 1 also did have opengl support. I don't know about the crashing though.... i haven't tried unreal on win2k before. If i get the time I'll try it later tonight and let you know how it fares for me....

Thanks for the idea, but that service was not started on his computer.... it wasn't completely disabled, but it is set to manual, and isn't being started indirectly by another service. Any other ideas?

lol title.exe is not a an actual file - it was meant as the generic name of your application. e.g. for NFS High Stakes you would use nfshs.exe... so use the name of the program you're trying to run. as far as where you put the files, it really doesn't matter, so long as it's in your path. The winnt directory would work fine.

I'm sure that's not right, because it wouldn't be able to keep up with the 100MHz bus then. At most, 60ns memory could run at about 16.67MHz. End result - the memory subsystem wouldn't work AT ALL if the memory ran at 60ns. Besides, the only effect that too much memory could have on the system would be slightly slower memory addressing, which has nothing to do with the memory latency. But I don't think that's even the case, since PC's use 32-bit memory addressing, which can address (potentially) up to about 4GB.

if you're just going between two building, you shouldn't have any problems with reliability. Don't go with a cheap home solution though.... I would recommend the Cisco Aironet hardware. We use Aironet at work to connect two offices about 2 miles apart, and it works really well...

number 1 rule to avoid pissing people off in this forum - DON'T DOUBLE POST!! (or in your case, triple post) Most of us read all the categories, so just pick one area and stick with it.... Regarding your question, it depends on what kind of format you did - if it was just a quick format, then the data should still be on the disk for retrieval (provided it hasn't been overwritten already). I think there are utilities to help with that... anyone know more? On the other hand, if you did a full format, then I think you're SOL. You MIGHT ask one of those data recovery agencies what they think if it's really that important. Really though, if it's that important, why didn't you make periodic backups of it? food for thought...

if you are looking for a graphical IDE, then MS Visual C++ is a good way to go. If you just want the compiler, then you can get the gcc toolkit for free...

It's the master file table - if you want to know more, try searching on knowledge base for MFT

It does have cddb - what is different about cddb2? As far as my settings, I have it on aspi at the default setting. Try ripping it to wave instead of mp3, and see what you get. I know that if I go directly to mp3, I only get about 13x-14x - that's as fast as my poor p3 700 can encode it! But if you go only to wave, you'll see the true DAE power of these drives

Audio Catalyst works great un 2k (even though they claim it doesn't work at all). I have the TDK 12/10/32, which is pretty much the same thing as yours, and I get full speed audio ripping (32x max). Download the trial to see if it works for you. You will need to install an aspi driver if you don't already have one - let me know if you need help with that.
