yes and no.... Win2k has the ability to use themes, but no themes ship with it. So if you have a theme you like, you can use it in win2k. Go to Start->Run, type in 'themes', and click ok......

I'm not sure, but I think not.....

Oh please forgive us jdulmage, oh wise and omnipotent savior of the ntcompatible forum.... yeah right. So you knew an answer to someone's question, good for you. Thanks for helping someone out. But posts like this are just ****e. I really don't care if you think I'm a loser or not, but just because jdulmage doesn't take kindly to someone is not a reason to ban them from the board. You've said plenty of retarded things of your own before. Us veterans will all remember the whole "install dos before win2k" fiasco....

calm yourself man.... all he did was give a smart-ass response to you smart-ass message. "ruler of whistler" huh? does bill know?

Anyone know if Baldurs Gate 2 will run in Windows 2000?
CUViper replied to falcon26's topic in Games
size: 2.27 GB (2,438,987,924 bytes) size on disk: 2.28 GB (2,448,687,104 bytes) Not too bad, and I have a 27 gb hard drive, so hey..... now back to the game..... -

I agree.... the in-game tips even recommend a full install, saying that loading times will be "much faster". My recommendation: if you have the space, do the full install. No cd-swapping, faster load times, what could be better? -

you're out of luck then..... new characters start at 89,000 experience. Trust me though, you wouldn't make it very far if you were able to start at level 1. The idea is that you start from level 1 in bg1, then continue leveling them in bg2.... -

I am playing with an imported character. Only the main character though.... you can't import characters like Imoen and Jahera. Really though, if you like your character from before, why not just use it? -

Anyone figured out the HP CDRW kill all CD drives problem ye
CUViper replied to JediBaron's topic in Hardware
My friend just got an HP CDRW and it works just fine... He's even using the adaptec software. -
First place to check for stuff like that is Microsoft's Knowledge Base. Here is the specific article that you're probably looking for: Q163111 - Remote Access Service (RAS) Error Code List It says it's for Win9x and WinNT4, but I'm pretty sure the codes are the same in Win2k as well...
-
MOST software will work just fine if you install it in the same place. Photoshop will be ok on both os's if you install to the same directory. Programs that have os-specific installations should be separated though.......
-
maybe you should try the nvidia reference drivers....

hmmm.... I guess it could be acdsee causing the problem, since my boss does have it installed. I never have a problem on my machine though, which is also running acdsee. Mine is win2k pro though, maybe that makes a difference?
-
My boss's computer does this too.... it did it on NT4 server, and still does it on Win2k server. Weird thing is, it will let you delete all of the files in the directory, but not the directory itself. Always had to reboot to release the directory. Ideas anyone?
-
don't forget that your drives must be NTFS to use those security functions....
-
I have run into this several time since I installed SP1 on my workstation. I will check ipconfig next time it happens. The quick fix though, besides rebooting, is to go into 'Network and Dial-up Connections' and disable and enable the network connection.
-
I don't know how to do it, but I can verify that it is possible. The computer labs at my school do it every time they boot up

to rename/add/remove users, right-click on 'my computer' and got to manage. under 'system tools' there is 'local users and groups'. in there, go to users, and you can rename your administrator account. Personally, I wouldn't mess around with the idea of a dummy account, but if you want to, start reading up on scripting!

That has to do with the fact that hard drive manufacturers calculate 1 gig = 10^9 bytes, whereas windows calculates it in powers of 2 1 kB = 2^10 = 1024 bytes 1 mB = 2^20 = 1048576 bytes 1 gB = 2^30 = 1073741824 bytes So your 10.2 gig hard drive really has 10,200,000,000 bytes, whereas windows would only call it 10.2 gig if it had ~10,952,166,605 bytes

Isobuster is free and it does the same thing.....

well if no one else has any ideas, you should try removing all non-essential hardware, leaving only the video card, maouse, and keyboard. If it works, then you have a hardware conflict. Just because your modem, etc. was working on a different computer doesn't mean it can't be the conflicting now....
-
If you converted your win98 installation partition to NTFS, then yeah, you may as well delete it, since win98 can't run on NTFS....

to connect directly between two computers, you will need to get a crossover cable, rather than the normal patch cable
