    Windows 98!

Dear reader, I must agree that Windows 2000 Professional is the currently best OS out, but not for gamers. Windows 2000 Pro has some disadvantages still. One is driver support, and games. I must admit that Windows 98 for me works currently the best, eventhough its the slowest OS there is. Would you want the most compatible OS or the fastest? I personally would choose compatibility. Best Regards, Xetenor http://home.earthlink.net/~xetenor
  2. Dear Igor, Thanks for that helpful information. I will not forget it. Regards, Xetenor ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!
  3. Dear reader, Thanks for your reply. I see now. I also need a controller...how interesting. ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!
  4. Dear reader, I am wondering what the difference is. Is it faster using a Ultra DMA hard drive than a normal IDE hard drive? I have a western digital IDE hard drive...which is slow. What about those 5200 RPM and 7200 RPM hard drives? Which are Ultra DMA? What hard drive is a really good value hard drive that gives good performance and works quietly? I am going to buy a second PC, which I hope will have these features: Pentium 3 600 Mhz 128 SDRAM (133 mhz) CD-Writer Slow Windows 98 30 Gig Ultra DMA hard drive Vortex 2 sound card No monitor, because I have two already. Thank you very much for your replies, and I hope that we get some good information about some other hardware that work in Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Professional as well. ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!

    NTFS to FAT32?

Dear Readers, Thank you all for replying to the topic. Partition Magic 5.0 is a very interesting and useful program for us gamers who just love tweaking and changing OS. At least I learned from a mistake. I will make a boot disk for future use. To anyone who wants to know more about NTFS vs. FAT32: 1.Fat32 is noticeably faster than NTFS for gamers. 2.NTFS makes your hard drive load more. 3.I recommend at least 128 SDRAM to be installed if you are going to install NTFS with Windows 2000. 4.One of my games didn't run in OpenGL. It was Rogue Spear. I had a FAT32 file system. The solution was NTFS. I converted, and Rogue Spear ran great on my Pentium 2 350 MHz, 64 SDRAM, 8 Gig Hard drive (C:5 gig; D:3 gig). Gamers, Windows 2000 is not for us. Please stay tuned. Also, I have not heard much good from the upcoming Windows Millenium Edition, which I believe is the third Windows 98 edition.

    NTFS to FAT32?

Dear Readers, Thanks to all people who replied. I decided to reformat my HD. That was the only solution...and I guess that we gamers are not ready for Windows 2000 Professional, yet. I recommend that people stay with Windows 98.

    NTFS to FAT32?

Dear reader, my question is: Is there a way to convert from a NTFS file system to FAT32 in Windows 2000 without formating? I have a western digital HD, 5 Gig on C: (Windows 2000), 3 Gig on D: (Backup files). Thanks for your help, Regards, Xetenor ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!

    FAT32 or NTFS??

Well, that depends on your hard drive...for me NTFS was slower. My HD made much more loading than FAT32. FAT32...I recommend it to gamers. NTFS might be good for a SCSI hard drive, but not an IDE. I have a Western Digital 8 GIG IDE, which runs slow in NTFS, but faster in FAT32. I would not recommend installin NTFS because it is hard to return to FAT32 from Win 2000. I had that problem. ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!

How to convert from NTFS to FAT32 in Win 2000 Pro?

Oh...well I just bought Partition Magic 5.0 today but in Windows 2000 Pro (final), it won't let me install it...and I do have another FAT32 partiton but I need my C: to be FAT32. Also, I don't have the win 98 setup...I have a recovery CD from HP.
  11. Hello, I need to know how I can convert my hard drive into a FAT32 file system from NTFS. I tried installing Partition Magic v5.0 Pro, but it doesn't run with Windows 2000. I need some help. Are there any programs that can convert? I cannot format because I have too many important files. ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!

    Rogue Spear in Windows 2000

I had the same problem. I converted from a FAT32 to NTFS and now my Rogue Spear is working under WIn 2k with my Voodoo Banshee 16 meg PCI. ------------------ Windows 2000 Pro owns!
  13. Well I installed the Voodoo banshee drivers correctly under Win 2k. I have Rogue Spear patched to the latest, but when I am in the game, the mouse coursor is messed up...it shows wrong colors when I move it around and messed up the screen, and while I am in the game, my fps are VEEEEERY SLOW! ABout 15fps I think. I think it runs software...In Windows 98, it runs perfect.
  14. Well, I can't find those files. I only see oem0.inf, but no oem1.inf and oem1.pnf. I know Windows 98 perfect, but I never actually used an NT OS. What is that oem1.inf? Thats the video card driver?? [This message has been edited by Xetenor (edited 02 February 2000).]
  15. Well, when I ran the setup, Windows 2000 came with a dialog that asked me if I was sure if I wanted to install the driver and the only buttons I saw were: Yes, no, more info. I always pressed YES, and also overwrote any files. What are those PNF files anyway? Should I delete every single one I find in the winnt/inf directory?
