How do I turn off the integrated photo viewer?
jra101 replied to Dream97's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Here's what I did: Open Explorer, click Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types now find the extension of the file you want your own program to open select it and press delete then close folder options and double click on an image of the type you just changed and it should ask you what program you would like to use to open it. Select your program from the list or click Browse and find it. Jason A. -
Find a copy of the WindowsXP powertoys, specifically TweakUI for WinXP. It has a nice section for doing exactly what you want.

Turning off ZIP file integration in explorer
jra101 replied to jra101's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Awesome, that worked great! Thanks! Jason A. -
Does anyone know how to turn off the integrated ZIP file support in Windows XP? I prefer to use WinRAR and when I open a directory in explorer that contains a lot of zip files, they are listed as directories, something which I find really annoying as it clutters up the folder view in Windows Explorer. Thanks, Jason A.

Anyone know of a way to permanetly remove the annoying SMS button at the top of the ICQ 2000b window? I removed the Partner folder in the ICQ 2000 dir and the button didn't show up the next time I restarted ICQ but I checked the ICQ dir a minute later and it had recreated the Partner folder and the next time I restarted ICQ the button was there. Anyone know of a way to stop it? What you can try to do is uninstall the drivers for the Sound Blaster Live, then reboot and Windows will find the soundcard again and prompt you for drivers. Point it to the Microsoft WDM Sound Blaster live drivers and when they are installed download the latest SB Live drivers for Windows 2000 from Creative. Install these and reboot and it should all work. Jason A. PS: After the drivers are installed and working you can try to install LiveWare 3 for Windows 2000. My problem is always occuring, starts when my computer first boots and never goes away. I'm using the 5.32 Nvidia reference drivers, I am gonna try the latest Hercules drivers and see if that works. Jason A.

I just installed Ultima 9 on Windows 2000 final and it starts up, displays a loading screen, screen goes black, flickers, and im back at the desktop. I was having the exact same problem under Windows Millenium and I had no sound card drivers installed, I installed them and now the game runs great in WinME. I just downloaded the new SBlive drivers (I have the Creative SBLive Value) and installed them and still Ultima 9 won't run in Win2k. I think the problem is my soundcard but I don't really know. Any help is appreciated, Jason A. ------------------ I write code.

Look for a program called Bootpart. If you can't find it, email me at jra101@home.com, I'll send it to you. ------------------ I write code.

To do a benchmark in Quake3 simply start it up and at the main menu press tilde(~) to bring down the console. Type \timedemo 1 and press Enter. Press tilde(~) again to get rid of console Click on Demo, then choose any demo and press Play Jason A. ------------------ I write code.

A whole 3fps eh? I have a original TNT with a Celeron 550 and 128MB RAM and I gained over 30 FPS in Quake3 I am very happy about that. Of course I was using the fastest settings so our scores are different. I had ~40 and now get 71.8 FPS with the same settings. Jason A. ------------------ I write code.
