    Voodoo 2 in Me

I finally got it working using an older Diamond driver, but it still isn't 100% working. Dxdiag only works sometimes and others it freezes, but overall, it seems to be working for their games so I'm happy.

    Voodoo 2 in Me

Hey they are only 7 and 5! Pajama Sam, Freddi Fish, and Elmo run ok on a P200. It does have 64mb ram so its not constantly thrashing. Yeah win98 will work ok, but I like the fact that winme starts and exits faster (you know how impatient kids can be!) Anyway, I have been pretty satisfied with the way me is running on it except for the V2 trouble.

    AOL 6.0 Review

I use it occasionally. I like it for the most part. The early builds had many problems but they are getting fixed pretty quickly - there seems to be 2-3 new builds each week! [This message has been edited by Mark W (edited 19 September 2000).]
  4. I hax a Gravis Xterminator (not USB) that I cannot get to work. Does anbody have any experience with a different pad with similar features that works with win2k (maybe Xterminator USB, Sidewinder, or other)?

    OT: Can't execute vbs file

Hi: I just tried to run a vb script and windows tells me that "media Player can't open this file." What do I have to associate it with or do to get win2k to execute a vbs file? Thanks Ok. I associated it with wscript.exe (windows scripting host but when I try to run it I receive an error that "there is no script engine for file extension vbs." Does this have to do with some security updates or SP1? [This message has been edited by Mark W (edited 17 August 2000).]

Looking for a Win2k Friendly GamePad

Thank you all for your suggestions. Wind: I have tried the gravis beta driver and find them unacceptable - I cannot handle the bsod barage. Also, where do I find out info on the playstation option that you mention? What is the difference between the Sidewinder Pro and Dualstrike? Also, was the hardware recognized by windows (drivers installed automatically) or did you have to install drivers/software? If the latter, is it the standard win98 software or is there a special win2k version? Also, do you have "full" functionality (programmable buttons, etc.) or is it just "basic?" Thanks for all the help. Also, has anyone had any luck w/ the Xterminator USB or is it just the same as the standard one? [This message has been edited by Mark W (edited 03 August 2000).]

    celemine 600's on abit bp6

mr_yellow, are you saying you could use say a P3700e and an old C366 (@550) together on a BP6? I'd love to hear about somebody doing that.

    SP1 breaks WinTV Driver

It seems that win2k SP1 breaks the Hauppaugge WinTv driver (at least it broke mine ). Anyone else with this experience? How about a work-around? I have currently uninstalled SP1 and I now have my TV tuner back but I would really like to have SP1 with my TV.

    SP1 breaks WinTV Driver

Maybe I spoke too soon. I reinstalled the driver and app. Then I reinstalled SP1 and all seems to be working. I guess the first time around was just a freak occurence (I hope).

    SP1 breaks WinTV Driver

What is the difference between VFW and WDM drivers and where do I get WDM from? Also when is DX8 due out?
  12. I have installed Liveware 3 and the previous version. I do have a startup sound. However, the volume is always loud and only from the 2 front speakers. This has improved a little in liveware 3 but it is still notthe way it should be. It has something to do with win2k playing the sound before the sblive driver can "take control" if the sounds (or something like that).

    Direct CD?

I had DirectCd working fine under win2k (with all up-to-date patches) even with Nero installed. I recently also installed CloneCD and CDRWin and now DirectCD reports no compatible writer. Does anybody have all of these successfully installed and working happily together? If yes, how? Thanx.

    Direct CD?

Adaptec has posted a work around on their support site. It consists of uninstalling EZCD and DCD and then reinstalling them. For the most part that worked for me although I did have to manually make sure to uninstall/delete the original installation before I was able to reinistall it and patch it to current successfully.

Windows Media Player 7 final blues

Damn, I wish I would have read that article before I updated my wmp7 beta to final! I really need DirectCD to work reliably!

    Direct CD?

Thank you very much. Is this problem documented and what does Micro$oft have to say about it? I am going to uninstall it and hope I get my dcd back. Thanks again.

Indeed I did! Do you think that did it?

    Help with transition from AOL

I have been using AOL 5 and 6 with win2k for sometime and while AOL is ... well, AOL, it does work. Goto keyword beta. You'll have to sign up for the beta program but its no big deal. By the way, I use TCP/IP to connect about 99% of the time but occasionally I have had to dial up with AOL with no problems.

Windows Media Player 7 final blues

I had no problems with wmp7 and I has the beta installed. I updated to the final with no problems. However, now that you mention it, DirectCD no longer recognizes my Plextor 8/4/32 as a compatible drive. I also installed CDRWin and CloneCD, so I can't be sure where the blame goes, but it might have something to do with wmp7.

VERY puzzling problem w/ Adaptec ECDC

I have a similar problem in that I can write CDR but not CDRW. I am using Nero in win2k. I think my problem may be hardware related. Yours could be too. Can you try the drive in another system?

BP6, QQ BIOS (final) and W2K solution

Have you experienced the "SMP Problem" that others have mentioned? People were reporting that 1 CPU shows 50% load even at idle. I have been very nervous about messing with mine, since it seems to work ok w/ the second beta. ------------------ C366@550 x 2, Abit BP6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, Hauppauge WinTV Linksys 10/100, Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i Win98se/Win2k dual

BP6 + QQ BIOS FINAL = USB FIXED IN WIN2K

You guys are scaring me. I was about to update to the official qq but if it really causes problems, maybe I will stick with the second beta. No TV Support In Win2k!

I just got an email from Avermedia about my Aver TV/Phone TV/FM tuner. They said it will NOT be supported in win2k! I am pissed. Anyone have a tv tuner that does work in win2k (must have good stereo sound and prefferably an ir remote)?
