I get this error in the event log upon every reboot. Thnaks. I just figured that out. I think I also linked my standby/hibernate problem (the options are missing) to the hollywood+. Are there any new drivers that don't exhibit these problems? I was very excited when Sigma came out with beta drivers, some final "official" drivers would be nice too, now that win2k has been out for months.

I don't even have any hibernate options on the power control panel. I have ACPI enabled in Bios and have the latest beta bios. My system is listed as ACPI Multiprocessor in Device manager. Any other suggestions? I suppose I can try to install windows over itself and see if that helps, but I don't know if I want to invest that kind of time on a "maybe." Most other things are working OK, except for a few unexplained errors showing up in the event logs. ------------------ C366@550 x 2, Abit BP6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, Hauppauge WinTV 3Com 3C509 (Cable), Linksys 10/100 (LAN), Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i

iTouch version 1.3 Build 127, recently downloaded from Logitech's web site.
-
What are you supposed to do with the "dump" file? Is there a way to look at its contents and get any good info or does it just take up a huge amount of hd space?
-
Woodlet: I may be misunderstanding your post, but the latest Logitech iTouch software seems to work fine in win2k. If you were referring to the IBM software, then obviously I agree.

I have been waiting for this for months. There are no signs when/if they will release win2k compatible software. I really missed those buttons! I finally broke-down and bought the Logitech cordless keyboard that has all of those features. I am still holding on to the IBM hoping that someday they do release new software.

Can someone help me even get the hibernate/standby option? I have ACPI enabled and am running ACPI Multi proc Hal, but I have no option to hibernate or standby. Does this mean I have hardware that won't let me do this or is it something else? I don't get to an error message because I don't have the options to try! ------------------ C366@550 x 2, Abit BP6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, Hauppauge WinTV 3Com 3C509 (Cable), Linksys 10/100 (LAN), Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i

Good point! I figured that you had a dual boot config or another machine with win98 (doesen't everybody! ). I don't know how else to get it. I think the file is like 18 mb. Maybe you have a friend w/ a zip drive (assuming you have one or can borrow one) or a cd burner that could get for you.

My drive wont upgrade to dynamic drive, gives me an error...
Mark W replied to JimmyK's topic in Hardware
Did you get it to work or did you just figure out that the reason it didn't was the driver? Where can I find out about the dynamic setting? Pros, cons? Can you set a dynamic partition or just a drive(s)? Please excuse my ignorance on this subject. -
Goto the mixer, change the display to record setting, check "What-U-Hear".
-
If you goto aol keyword BETA and sign up, you will have access to beta versions of aol that work fine on win2k. I don't think the current official release will work properly.

SigmaDesigns RealMagic HollywoodPlus and Hibernate Support o
Mark W replied to GeoG's topic in Hardware
I have the H+ and no hibernate support but I'm not sure if that is what is causing it. Is there a good way to troubleshoot the power management functions? I have ACPI HAL but no APM or Hibernate functions appear. ------------------ C366@550 x 2, Abit BP6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, Hauppauge WinTV 3Com 3C509 (Cable), Linksys 10/100 (LAN), Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i -
Goto the Creative mixer. Look at the record settings (not the play), pick (unmute) the "What-U-Hear" or the Line-In.

I've got an original courtesy of the MS contest. Also have NFR versions of pro, server, and adv server from the HOT kit (not currently installed anywhere)not to mention my not-so-legitamate copy that preceeded the above .

When I tried hibernating for the first time, it "shutdown" fine but hung when I tried to restart. I can live without hibernation (it would be nice but not essential), but it left a 128mb hiberfil.sys in my root directory. When I try to delete it in explorer I get a sharing violation. How do I delete this monster file?

About 3 out of 4 attempts to start win2k give me the following blue screen error: Stop: 0x00000067 (0x00000004, 0x00000007, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) CONFIG_INITIALIZATION_Failed When I do get it to start, it seems to work OK. How do I go about troubleshooting this? Any ideas about what it could be? Abit BX6r2, C300@450, 128mb pc100, wd 13gb... Dual boot: Win98, Win2k

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

When I first installed Nero, it would lock when starting the program. I checked ASPI and everything else I could find, but nothing helped. Finally, I disabled DMA for my burner and it now works fine. From what I've heard, without DMA the CPU does more work and you have to be more careful about not doing anything else while burning but at least it works. In win98 I had DMA enabled and it worked just fine so I don't think its the drive. Anyway, if you are haveing trouble, try disabling DMA.

I have been experimenting with different drivers for my Linksys nic (lne100tx). After fooling around I have reinstalled the original "built-in" driver that comes with win2k a few times. In device manager it is listed something like "LNE100TX Fast Ethernet #4". Every time I reinstall it, the number gets incremented. It works so this is not a huge problem, but I want to know how to get rid of it. Also, I want to make sure that it is not trying to load it 4 times. I have booted into safe mode thinking I would find 1, 2, & 3 there but they were not (I think win98 used to do that). If anybody knows how to make it just say the name of the device and no number, please post. Also, ever since I installed a router for my cable modem, the first time I use IE it tells me no connection was found, do I want to work offline or try again? After clicking try again, it works fine for the remainder of my windows session. Again, this is not the end of world because it works, but it is darn annoying! Is there a setting to disable this? ------------------ C366@550 x 2, Abit BP6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, Hauppauge WinTV 3Com 3C509 (Cable), Linksys 10/100 (LAN), Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i [This message has been edited by Mark W (edited 09 March 2000).]

SBLive Initialazation and W2K Very Loud when starting up
Mark W replied to DarkWolf's topic in Hardware
I also noticed that the startup and shutdown sounds are very loud in addition to only coming from the front speakers! After the startup, it seems to work fine until shutdown. Does this happen to everybody? ------------------ C366@577, Abit BE6, 192mb PC100 Voodoo3 3000, SBLive Value, Hollywood+, AverTV/Phone 3Com 3C509 (Cable), Linksys 10/100 (LAN), Generic 56k modem IBM 20.5gb 7200, WD 18gb 7200 on HPT366 Pioneer 104s, HP7200i -
