When i delete a file i hold <shift>+<del> i get that confirm message. and it disappears. THEN the window refreshes and the file pops up again. and this time i can't delete it..it says the file is in use and cannot be deleted. this must be some sort of bug. When I reboot these files are gone after reboot. Is there a fix? or is it a known bug? Anyone else having this problem? Ancker

I am Running an ABIT BE6 with default drivers provided by Windows 2000 Server. my board has the HPT366 chip on it.. do you have the same chip? what version of drivers are you using? or does anyone have a better set of drivers, or idea? thanks Ancker

But the problem is, is that when i return to that folder...it hasn't disappeared. Also i'm not using the "Explorer" dual frame windows..just a single frame window.

I'm running Win2k Server on a cable modem and want to run an FTP server. It all runs fine. EXCEPT, users have to disable passive mode in order to send/receive data, otherwise a "Data Socket Error" occurs. I'm running the default settings except I require authentication. Is there a setting or anything that I need to set differently? I am using a Linksys Router with the correct ports forwarded. Let me know if you need any more info to help me. Thanks Ancker

I to have ASPI problems randomly. especially while ripping cd's i could rip say 8 cd's perfectly then the 9th would fail. this WAS fixed by rebooting 2 times..also try a powerdown.. I haven't tried ripping since SP2 maybe that will fix this problem. Ancker

Obviously i'd like to do it the normal way. But i guess as a last resort we can do it the floppy way. I'll keep looking. As i hope you will too thanks Ancker

Yeah. They want me to produce a set of step by step instructions on how to do this. So I cannot "secretly" use cdrwin to make the image. Because then my colleagues would not be able to reproduce it. But I appreciate you saying you'll look into it. I do know that NERO WILL allow bootable cd-roms, and you can set sectors and boot images. Thanks for your help. Ancker

I couldn't go very long without mail...so i had to uninstall SP2... But that upset me because i DID see a performance boost. Ancker

Ok i have a program that i wrote in VB 6 that saves window positions and restores them, say after a resolution change. The program runs fine in Win9x...but NOT in 2k Pro OR Server. if i post a link to where you can download this and maybe play with it will a few of you help me out? I'm using only standard API calls. thanks Ancker Jade
-
Actually MS has said that the API calls are NOT different. And i looked up compatibility on the EnumWindows API call. Tried recompiling on a 2k Machine...no luck.. Maybe i'll try to write and activex control. Ancker
-
the problem isn't in the code...it's in the compiling or something The program is flawless in 9x so it doesn't seem like it would be necessary to release the code. also i'm not planning on becoming a "hardcore" programmer i just thought it would be cool to have software released as shareware..I'm not trying to become rich of it... Ancker
-
I'd rather not release the source code as I am considering licensing the software..as shareware.. My plans may change though. Please help if you can. Ancker

What i'm doing is writing a program in VB 6 that will call on the API to list the names and positions of all windows/processes running. The purpose of this is to store positions of windows that way after a change of resolution i can restore each window to it's original position. It all works great and fine in 95 and 98...but when i call on the API in win2k CRASH "Application popup: windows.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read"." and the program closes. Why would this run in 95 and 98 but not 2k? I've tried using the application compatibility programs and none work...Is there a different API for windows2000? please help out Ancker Jade

My HTTP server works for me...but when anyone other than on my local machine tries to view my webpage it says server not found. I also assume i have everything set up fine. I used the wizard(laugh). I tried reinstalling IIS but to no avail. I have Black Ice running but i allow HTTP.

Why won't my HTTP server allow others access?
ancker replied to ancker's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I do know that using the IP 10.1.*.* (in my internal network) is not the problem. They cannot connect to my Public IP 206.5.*.* I will look for code for BLack ICE..thanks for that tip.. We will see if it works. Ancker Jade -

ancker replied to pr-man's topic in Software
I've used EVERY anti-virus software. And the one that really impresses me is SOPHOS. There is a real time scanner that is always running but it NEVER causes any type of performance hit. For the network user you can install a central installation and have all clients automatically update themselves to the server. I've only seen Norton crash machines in my career. And today I had to remove McAfee from a machine to get it to work again. I'm totally for some type of Anti-Virus....and if you want the best..get SOPHOS... (i just now realize how much that looks like an add for them) Ancker Jade -
FYI.. I did NOT post that reply as a flame or as a complaint. Just merely a request. Many users like myself read All the forums, NOT just one. And it gets annoying to see the same question repeated in each one. Obvioulsy I cannot do anything about this, therefore I simply made a request. Thanks Ancker Jade
