First off you're probably going to say search the forum. BUT i really couldn't find what i was looking for. I use windows 2000 Server. I would like to create a CD to install Server with SP1, all critical updates to this date, IE 6, and other various programs. I would like to do this using Nero...my favorite burning software. I've read the other guides on how to do this...they seem to troublesome for an intermediate user like myself. Is there a utility or well written FAQ that will do this easier? Please point me to this App or site.. Thanks Ancker Jade

My Boot.ini file is Missing... When i boot...i get an error "Invalid BOOT.INI file" "Booting from c:\winnt" BUT....it boots any way.. so i decided to go see that the problem was...like if there was an accidental typo or something... but i can't find the file now.....i'm on a single boot machine let me know Ancker Jade

i'm cautious about creating a new one...as my machine might not boot is it any different for Server? (which is what i use) i also have 4 hdd and boot off the first.. thanks

I am running Windows 2000 Server and am running a virtual mail server in IIS. It is set to Automatic and it won't start when Win2k boots. Whats wrong? It doesn't make any sense why it won't start. Everything is set up correctly. Let me know. Thanks Ancker Jade

I have tried reinstalling IIS..to no avail.. also i AM running SP1...maybe SP2 will fix it Ancker

No I do not have headers set up.. is there anything at all i can do? let me know how i can get more detailed ALSO in the event viewer i DO get a "A service has failed to load at startup" error.. but it doesn't tell me which one... Ancker

I do use a REAL web server www.ancker.net you'll see that it's on APACHE I'm just playing with this 2k Server Pro box.. Try not to clutter up the Posts with comments like that. Ancker

(2 machines) 1 Windows 2k Server 10.1.5.10 2 Windows 2k Pro 10.1.5.11 connected via crossover cable when i type 10.1.5.10 on machine 2 it works... but when i have a friend go to my dial-up IP it won't work.. doesn't make sense to me. Ancker

If you go to Internet Systems manager you can create a "Virtual SMTP server" thats what i have installed Ancker

ok all i want my computer to do is act as a SMTP for myself. i just altered the Default Mail thing in IIS. i'm guessing i have it set up ALL wrong.. Ancker

shouldn't IIS do the routing for me?? if i set HTTP server shouldn't it map port 80 to the directory i specified? also i'm on a Dial-up Ancker Jade

The SMTP service has to be running or the mail service in IIS will not run. if there are any details that would help you help me let me know. Ancker

yes they are using IP to access... and they are from the internet...no one in my lan has the problem Ancker

Is it possible to start a service with a batch file that could be placed in say a login script? If it is...could you explain to me...and point me to a FAQ on login scripts? thanks Ancker Jade

How do I set up VNC to run on Windows 2000 I want to access my Windows 2k Pro machine with my windows 2k Server Machine. it will connect; then ask for my password; then it will say "connection closed" do i need to set up trusts of some sort. I got it to work on my 98 machine...but i can't connect to my Win2kPro.... Any Ideas? Ancker Jade

I have Windows 2000 Server Installed on my machine. I noticed that there is no APM option. I have to sit here and wait for my computer to shut down so I can push the button to turn it off... Is there a registry setting i can change to enable APM. Win2k Pro worked fine on this Machine. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a simple utility that allows me to install any program as a service. What i'm doing is writing a program that acts somewhat like 12Ghosts Savelayout, BUT mine will also save window sizes and locations. This would be helpful if you play games in a different resolution as your normal desktop. ie. i use ICQ and have it on my screen where when i change resolutions (after playing a game) it is transformed into a little box. If you want no trouble...Play games in 2k...I run 2k Server, and play games perfect. I have better frame rates than my friends on 98se. All i have is a TNT2 Ultra. Default Creative drivers..works great. I have a Dynamic IP program that connects to a server and lets me have a static host name that changes IP with my copmuter each time i log on. I have a few users on this machine. and I want the program that runs to run for all users..but i dont' want them to be able to shut the program down or edit it. Is this possible? I know there is such a thing as "install as service" will that do it? thanks Ancker Jade
