what are the necesary steps i need to take prior and after the upgrade. (ie.. removing/up[censored] drivers, etc) does win2k support the ATA100? thanks Ancker Jade

I recently installed Windows 2000 Pro on my friends computer. I went to make a dial-up account and i got all the way through the process of typing in phone numbers and crap..but then at the very end it says the name i wnat to type in is invalid..complaining about it must contain at least once character not starting with a period or space.....i can even chose the default name..and it still says invalid name?? Does anyone have a clue?? Also my friends modem is a PCT789T PC-TEL says it is supported by windows 2000..buti cannot get it to work.. thanks Ancker

Will Windows 2000 Pro automatically turn on multiple CPU support? Or do i have to set it up somewhere?

I have just installed a H+ card on my computer. Running Windows 2000 Pro. TNT 2 Ultra. 256 RAM. Celeron 400. Plextor 12x 10 x 32x burner. Creative 48x cdrom. LG DRD-8080b DVD-rom. zip100 INT. SB Live 1 full. OK everything installs fine....but my problem is that when i go to to play the dvd...my system hangs...if frezzes the program "DVD Station". I have the latest drivers from Sigma. Any Suggestions? Ancker

Ok.. when you boot win2k pro..You must first press Ctrl+alt+del to get to the login prompt. Where in the Registry is that so i can enamble it again...For some reason MY install of Win2k Pro did NOT install this feature.. It seems like a reg hack... Has anyone found it?? Thanks Ancker

I'm sorry.....I was looking on my Win2k Server Disk... I'd try going to the microsoft.com and searching for the admin pack. Sorry. Ancker Jade

Go to your Win2k CD...look in the i386 directory....there is a file called something like "adminvpack.msi" run it...it will install the admin pack

I plan to rebuild my machine...but i would like to NOT have to reinstall win3k. Right now win2k Pro is installed to F:, i want to move it to my C: drive soon. Are there issues that i have to worry about? Are there any programs that will help me?? Thanks Ancker Jade

I guess I should make it a little more clear... I'm going to Physically move my 4th HDD to the 1st HDD..

OK i have a rather large machine...(I saved my pennies) you can check out the set-up here "www.ancker.net/custombox.html" What my problem is, is that Windows 2000 reports my 30GB Western Digital drive to be 7.87GB... I tried using a win98 boot disk to use fdisk and format to make it 30GB...but when i boot back into 2000 it shows up as 7.87. I have all the latest drivers...I do NOT have SP1 yet.... Any suggestions?

I cannot Remove the 3GIG drive....I boot off that drive... I'm using the latest BIOS revision of AWARD for my A-Bit BE6 Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

I do NOT use any destop software... My H+ IS sharing an IRQ with my NIC and Intel pci to usb controller...BUT win2k will not let me change my IRQ..... What can be done??

Normally I would agree with you. BUT This only happened AFTER i had to RE-install Win2k. it DID work before....So i know that is not the case with this problem. Also the 3 gig drive is fairly new..less than 2 years. Meaning that it should be fully capable of handling 30GB drives. Any Other suggestions??

Is it Possible to install Windows 2000 Server on TOP of Windows 2000 Professional? WITHOUT losing data....I want to know if it is possible to pop in the CD and install. (or boot from the 4 floppies and install) Please no smart alec answers. I am currently running Pro...And when i move to college i would like to move to Server. Thank you Ancker Jade

After having to reinstall windows 2000, my D: drive show up in windows 2000 as unformatted and won't let me use it. has anyone seen this? anyone have a fix?

I have a machine running Windows 2000 Pro. I installed Unreal Tournament and Age of Empires 2. And rebooted, now i'm stuck in a reboot loop. And it crashes when i get to the driver "agp440.sys". Has anyone had this problem or one similar? Please help, it is my main machine and I need it back up fast!!!! Ancker Jade

I have Windows 2000 Pro installed. everything works except my DVD-ROM. it's a DRDVD840...(Digital Research) when ever go to use the drive for anything it causes an entire system crash... It's slave on my secondary UDMA/66 controller.--i have win2k drivers installed. does anyone have any idea's? Ancker
