The P3-700 Is a good overclocker. Before I got my P3-1ghz@1125 I had my 700's overclocked to 933. My 700's both had a stepping of CB0 and overclocked fine to 933. My P3 1ghz have a stepping of CC0 and overclock to 1125. If you mix a CB0 with a CC0 your voltage will drop below 1.65 (I forgot how low) on the VP6. Just order a P3 1g. There are only P3 1ghz with a stepping of CC0. Anyways most websites list the stepping. Check out the www.2cpu.com forum or the www.vp6-board.com forum for more details. My VP6 is a swwwwwwwwweeeeeettt board (for a P3). But for duallies the is our only choice until the AMD Athlons come out in full force and the P4 duallies.

Full Install Win2k Pro from Upgrade CD?
DosFreak replied to Jrc384k's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Time is relative. -
Well if we can't figure out out to make the 2k cd's bootable the normal way. You could always use the floppy emu in Nero that way when you insert the CD. It boots from the CD but it reads a floppy image. You can then surf to the \i386\winnt.exe and install NT or stick that line into autoexec.
-
As far as I know Nero doesn't support the Custom options that Cdrwin does. I will look again but from the tests that I have done it cannot be done. You could make the .ISO's with cdrwin and burn 'em with NERO. Just keep the fact that you use Cdrwin to MAKE the .Iso's secret. Dang man. Must be a pretty stingy shop you work in.

does the win95 compatability layer in sp2 for win2k even do
DosFreak replied to oozle's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I'll be release an updated Whistler Application Compatibility kit sometime later this month. For now just grab WHACT20.cab from www.freedrive.com Login:ntcompatible Pass:ntcompatible Read the readme and install. Then you'll have exactly the same Compatibility that Whistler has. If you don't like the hack I put together and want something more Microsofty. Then just download the .MSI file (It's the original Whistler Application Compatibility Kit, I just removed the Whistler requirement.) Also download apphelp.zip www.freedrive.com Login:ntcompatible1 Pass:ntcompatible1 1. Run the .MSI and install it. 2. Extract the 2 .sdb files from apphelp into your \winnt\apppatch directory. I recommend downloading the second if you don't care about the technical stuff and just wanna get your games working. -
Full Install Win2k Pro from Upgrade CD?
DosFreak replied to Jrc384k's topic in Customization & Tweaking
The ME CD probly doesn't work because 2000 came out before ME. Hmmm, 2000 came out before the Millenium. bwahahahahahahah! -
Replace sfc.dll with the sfc.dll from SP1. That might fix it. Quote: There are too many idiots around who mess about with Win2K and then moan about Microsoft with their OS packs up. There are too many people who need things done and WFP messes it up.

does the win95 compatability layer in sp2 for win2k even do
DosFreak replied to oozle's topic in Customization & Tweaking
The option is basically just to bypass problems where you cannot run setup or execute a program due to the program having a requirement built in for NT/9x. That's about it for the compatibility with that options. The Whistler Application Compatibility kit does ALOT more. -
Hmmmm, you could try using the boot sector from the NT4 CD....or using floppy emulation on the CD and then putting in the autoexec to run NT setup.

MPS Uni/Multi/Acpi Uni/Multi assign higher IRQ's like that. Also ACPI assigns IRQ's for devices on the same IRQ. This is the way it should be. Also if your installing Windows 2000 on a new machine update your mobo to the latest bios, it's likely that the bios has been updated with ACPI support.
-
Writing an OS for the LCD. Upon Whistler install there should be an option for "Ignorant Home User" or "Worskstation". No split Personal/Professional.
-
Just SP2. SP2 includes all SP1 fixes. If I could wake myself up enough to find the MS KB article for ya I would but my body is currently in automatic sleep mode and can not expend the energy. Sorry. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
-
1. Have you flashed to the latest mobo bios? 2. Using latest drivers for all devices? 3. Are you using ACPI?
-
ALWAYS, ALWAYS install the latest update for a game before using Application Compatibility or posting to a BB.
-
Update NT4 to SP6a before installing Windows 2000. IIRC, NTFS 5 support wasn't implemented in NT4 until SP4. *If you don't install SP6a before 2k then you will be unable to use NT4.
-
1. NT 4 only has Directx 3. 2. Your NT4 video drivers only support DX3. 3. AGP isn't really implemented in NT4. 4. If your game requires a DX ver later than DX3 it won't work. You can hack in DX5&6 but there really isn't a point since almost no games work. Refer to Game Compatibility list on this site for info on your app/game. 5. No way to get USB working on NT4 unless you want to pay alot of $$$$ and I mean ALOT for the proggy. (If I had it I'd give it to ya but I don't.). If the manufacturer of your device made a specialized driver for it it could work but if they didn't then it won't. 6. To get AGP & USB your gonna have to install Windows 2000. Don't worry 2000 isn't that drastic of a change from NT4. It's basically NT4 with more compatibility and more ease of use. That's about it. 7. Start backing up now..... You don't need a dual-boot since 2000 supports almost everything that NT4 does. (Unless it was a highly specialized app like Defrag/AV or somesuch)
-
Quote: I was told that my USB port is not recognized by NT. Is this true? True. I was also told that my AGP slot is not recognised by NT. Is this true? True. To dual-boot with Windows 2000 you would need a second partition. It's likely that you only have one at the moment. If so you would have to backup your data and re-pairtition your drive.
-
I have no idea why it does not work since I do not have the game. If I see it at the store or online tho' I'll download it and give it a shot but if you've tried everything in the compatibility options then there is very little I could do except email 'em and yell at 'em.

http://turner.download.akamai.com/cnn/business/2001/05/14/duke.cnnfn.ns80.asf Hopefully a higher res ver will be out tommorow. From what I can see the game won't have Quake 3 quality graphics but the graphics will be FAR better than UT. But what I care about is the interaction with the environment/characters which just like Duke Nukem before it it seems that Duke Nukem Forever will raise the bar again for FPS interaction. WOOHOO! *Shake it baby.
