Uninstall the VIA drivers by using the VIA 4-IN-1 install program again and choosing UNINSTALL for the IDE. VIA 4-in-1 busmaster drivers are NOT good for the VP6. I know I have a VP6. So Trust me!

1. The scandisk program in Windows NT requires a reboot to scan the entire disk. When you load up NT fully files are in use and the scandisk program does not like this so it simply does a scandisk when you reboot. 2. Are these 2 computers on a network or are they just peer to peer? If peer that's probably why....

Command.com is used for compatibility. CMD is the native NT command line.

1. You don't need to Low Level format your HD. 2. You don't need and or want Seagate Dismanager or any other HD Manufacturers' proggies. Just do this: 1. Insert Windows 2000 CD into CDROM.2 2. Configure your bios to boot from CD. 3. Save Bios. 4. Quit Bios. 5. Reboot and press a key when the CD tells you to. 6. Start 2000 setup and delete/make/format partitions in Windows 2000 setup.

How do I make a bootable Windows 2000 Pro #upgrade# CD?
DosFreak replied to Son_Gohan's topic in Software
When you perform the slipstream it will place the file in the dir above the i386 directory. In the root of the cd. -
Latest X3dfx Voodoo 5 drivers work just fine on my Voodoo 3 3000 in Windows 2000 Pro.
-
Also make sure the print server has the drivers for all the OS that connect to it installed.
-
Actually the Min pagefile calculated by Windows 2000 is Physical * 1.5M. That's usually good enough. Well if you have enough ram that is.

I'm sure Compaq would do it but they'd probably water it down a bit. http://web14.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=FAQ2859 [This message has been edited by DosFreak (edited 24 February 2001).]

Your using ACPI. 1. What kind of mobo are you using? 2. What mobo bios ver? 3. What video card bios ver? 4. Try the latest 7.52 and see if that fixes your prob. (Most likely NOT). 5. Go into System Information and show us what IRQ's you are sharing.

How do I make a bootable Windows 2000 Pro #upgrade# CD?

You sure the .tst file was in the root of the CD? I've never tried to slipstream an upgrade CD but when I first started slipstream I received that error message when I deleted the .tst file. -
YGM Paul.

Add your computer to the domain. Start/run/sysdm.cpl Network Identification Hope you have the rights....
-
Well then your only other hope is the installshield extractors. (I'll email 'em to ya if ya want.) or vmware....
-
Use the NVcpl from an earlier build.

Any time a game wants to install Directx. Don't let it. Chances are it won't do anything anyway but alot of time the prog will error out. So if it let's you choose to install directx and it's 7.0 then don't do it!

FSAA works fine but it's been months since I used the 6.31 drivers. Upgrade to 6.50 and try. FSAA works fine here on the 6.67 and I know it works for me on the 6.50.

What kind of mobo chipset? If 686B then uninstall the VIA busmaster drivers.

"Go today and try to buy an IBM Intellistation ZPro, a top of the range Visualisation workstation, tell them you need the machine to do intensive graphics work, with performance and stability. You'll get recommended to have NT on it rather than W2K. Funny that ? Maybe my 'Dealer of the year' gets it wrong too with their recommendations (NT over W2K)?? And they have FAR FAR more experience than I (FACT). Mabye your "Dealer of the year". Is just that. A Dealer. Is he a tech? Does he KNOW his ****? or does he just read the specs on the machine like any customer would? How the heck do you know he has more experience than you do? Do you know him? Geesh, I can stick Gomer Pile in front of a computer with a Microsoft Technet CD and he can answer just about any error message a user would have with NT (By-the-book). "So why is this ?? Because there are still too many issues with W2K FOR THE SERIOUS USER to contend with rather than just getting on with REAL work." Each user has different uses. I don't see Microsoft touting Windows 2000 as the end-all-be-all of Multimedia OS'S. In fact they still recommend 9x for that. Is it Microsoft's fault that your crappy graphics progs don't work in Windows 2000. NO. Yes, I do say CRAPPY because if the company you bought it from was worth their $$$ they would have had it working BEFORE 2000 came out. Microsoft is VERY good at informing Companies on how to make their software. So go right ahead. Blame Microsoft like everyone else does. ;( "Just trying to save Pikey the RISK of wasting lots of time." Wasting lots of time? He wants to play games and he wants to do a little graphics work. If he sticks by the compatibility list his graphics will work just fine. "If he wants USB and to play games, then NT is NOT for him (FACT)." USB works fine. If the manufacturer of your part doesn't have a driver for your part that's THEIR problem NOT Microsoft's. If you stick by www.ntcompatible.com compatibility list then you'll be fine for games. Seems to me that YOU don't know how to pick your parts. You take companies by their word that this or that will work fine in Windows. Well guess what? IT'S ALMOST NEVER BEEN LIKE THAT!!!! GO BUY A MAC. It runs graphics just fine and as all the Mac Zealots are fond of saying Photoshop is faaaaaaaaassssttt. Oh and as for stability well I guess you won't find it there either. Go find yourself an SGI workstation or something. Obviously 2000 is too hard for you. ;(
