", (I later converted from FAT32 to NTFS but" Converting from FAT32 to NTFS (using the Convert X: /FS:NTFS) changes the cluster size to 512b which is very bad if you perform disk intensive stuff. Mabye the drive is messed up. I would move all the stuff off of the drive and delete the partition and reformat. Use the Disk Manager in NT.

"I really don't even know what else to say, I am just ranting on, everyone else can anti-XP there way into the future (lamers), so i'll pro-XP back at you all. And there ain't a damn thing you can do about it." This really has nothing to do with the guys question JD. He didn't say anything bad about YOUR Whistler. ;(

"And as for video, your not gonna ever touch DivX with any nerdy windows formats. Just had to get that out" huh? Divx is just Mpeg4 V3 with the 4CC changed so you can use it in .AVI format.

It isn't Nvidia. It's the AGP. Not enough voltage plus whatever other crappy VIA implementation. These have been pretty much fixed in newer VIA mobo's. Some K6 mobo's don't have this prob like my old Soyo SY5-EMA. Heck, My Geforce 2 GTS ran fine in that thing but yeah junk it and get a new mobo.

4.0 comes with it's own internal ASPI support.

Are you 100% sure it's a heat issue? I would verify it first by taking it out and putting it in the open. I can understand having to put up with users demands but your gonna have to explain to them that this is the way to go if they want it fixed. It could either be heat or memory. But as you stated it was running very hot. I don't know where the computer is situated but mabye you can take the back off the cabinet or place the computer in an out of the way place. Is the computer THAT ugly?

As long as anything impairs usability it will never work....

Gigabyte Via mobo's are POS. Try upgrading the bios.

Take out of wooden cabinet. Take off case. Try it then.

Use 6.50+. 7.52 are buuuuggggyyy!

Mabye your mobo/modem has ACPI issues? Try the modem in another computer to verify that the modem works. If so then flash your mobo's bios. Try again. If no go then reinstall the OS.

I recently bought a H+ to replace my DXR3 (H+) because I wanted a REAL H+. Well I stuck the H+ in and noticed that 2000 actually crashed 8) 8) so I ripped it out and compared the cards. The H+ had a later model number on the main chip than the Dxr3. So I stuck the Dxr3 back in and TADA no more crashes! Only bad thing about the DXR3 is I have to use Zone Selector to use my decoder card. oh and the degradation of video quality by using the pass-through cable but I always use software decoders for watching DVD on my monitor anyway.

Min & Avg look right....Your max score tho...Are you use any DMA/33 devices on that chain or a 33 cable?

Windows²ººº Voodoo V 5500 AGP or PCI users, step in! Good Tw
DosFreak replied to Brian Frank's topic in Games
Most? heh. Nvidia has all of 3dfx's CORE assets. Tech support for Voodoo boards is being done through a third-party. Nvidia has never stated they will release new drivers and x3dfx have stated last week after their driver release that they do not plan on releasing newer drivers. DIE 3DFX DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! -
Try replacing dinput.dll witht he dinput.dll from Dx7.0/8.0. Your going to have to delete the dinput.dll in the \winnt\system32\dllcache and the \winnt\system32 directory. Then copy dinput.dll into those 2 directories.

Enable TV out in 2000 on a Leadtek Geforce GTS ?????
DosFreak replied to Sparkhard's topic in Software
Download the drivers from your video card manufacturer for the easiest TV out solution. Go here and download Media Player 7: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/default.asp or if you can go into your Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player if you can. -
any way to get ata 100 suport in w2k ?
DosFreak replied to DEVIL_DK's topic in Customization & Tweaking
You don't need the file. Simply install the drivers for your IDE controllers and you'll be set. -
Doesn't matter. Plextor has Burn proof tech which monitors the buffer and stops writes to the CD if the buffers runs out. In terms of OS crashing then 2000 would be best for CD burning but if your 9x is stable stick with it.
