Msconfig sucked. Go to www.google.com and download Startup Control Panel.

The entire OS will benefit from SMP. The major advantage of SMP is your processor not spiking at 100%. Where it would spike at 100% on a single processor it spikes at 50% on an duallie. I wouldn't jump out and get a 760mp when they first release. That will be their first dual board so it's bound to have some problems. If your going to go dual go P3 and then get dual P4/Athlon next christmas.

I've noticed sometimes that formatting a DOS disk in NT will make it unbootable. I simply make a bootable DOS disk in DOS/9x and then image it. Then in NT I just click on the image and it formats/writes to the floppy itself.

Lift with the Legs not with the back. BU--ARRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!--MP!
-
Dunno how you guys build your systems but from P200's to Dual P3-933's my boot times are under or around a minute. Guess it must be my perfect touch.
-
ehhh, I wouldn't do that. Some viruses can infect your bios firmware due to stoopid companies not sticking bios protect jumper on mobo. Geesh, old P60's had bios flash jumpers why don't they have 'em anymore???!!!

Isn't the "Party Line" something you dance in?

It'll be slower or mabye faster on transfer depending on what SCSI drives you have. HDTACH v2.61 2X45G Raid 0 HPT370 DMA/100 RAS=12ms RBS=80+ (off the chart) Read Speed Max=60912.0kps Min=25026.0kps Avg=38750.6kps CPU Utilization=2.4%

Hmmm, usually I wouldn't like posts like this but I really really really REALLY like your program! I've been using the beta for awhile and downloaded the shareware yesterday. Good work!

Do not put Windows 2000 on that machine. Either 98 or below or NT4. No 2000.

7.17's have graphics corruption in X-Isle/Sacrifice and still a *little* bit unstable in SMP. 6.67's are kinda flaky. 6.62's no graphics corruption, stable in SMP. Sweeeeettt. oh and a *little* bit faster than the 7.17's too.
-
I've tested out all of the drivers. So far the 6.62 have NEVER crashed Quake 3. I was suprised. Use the 6.62's. The 6.67's are kinda flaky and the 7.xx have graphics corruption in X-Isle and Sacrifice.

I'll post my HPT360 with 2X IBM 46G tommorow Raid 0 64K. Pretty good scores. If you plan on having more than 2 HD's on an IDE RAID then your going to get less than optimal performance. The performance freaks only use Raid 0 with 1 HD on PM and 1 HD on SM. Any HD put on slave will work of course but you WILL get degraded performance because of the way IDE works.

Question about the anti-piracy thing in Whistler
DosFreak replied to INFERNO2000's topic in Hardware
If this feature is included in the Final of Whistler then hopefully it will only be used in Personal and NOT in Pro,Server,AS. None of us will be using Personal anyway so it's all good. -
Never had a problem with Liveware. Probly because I disable the stuff in startup all the time. Devldr32.exe is always a service but it never causes me any problems.
-
I know what you mean. I'm going for ATA/100 2X45G raid myself. Gonna go Ultra160 next christmas. Get a Primise ATA/100 RAID controller. Best IDE RAID there is
-
Lemme get this straight. You have a SCSI Ultra160 as your boot and you want to RAID your IDE??!! WTF??!!
-
Gaming will be slower in some cases than in 9x with only 128m of ram. You NEED around 192 for gaming. I was using 2000 with 128 and although it runs load times are significantly decreased by increasing your ram by only 64-128m

Try maxing out EMS/XMS and/or remming out lines in config.nt/Autoexec.nt I'm leaving work right now so I'll verify that it still works.

Question about the anti-piracy thing in Whistler
DosFreak replied to INFERNO2000's topic in Hardware
Well the Linux crowd will most definetly increase in size 15% on day of Whistler release if this is true. Don't worry this will be easily crackable and I'm sure that the OS given out to business's/government. (SELECT versions) probably will have this feature disabled. If you read this: the feature is designed to reduce casual copying You can compare that to CloneCD if you wish. Wich stops casual copying (A newbie trying to copy with Creator). So with most users being the idiots they are and not wanting a "cracked" OS to them the OS will be un-crackable and they will buy it. The rest of us will either get our Work copies or the crack off the net. No worries here. *Now I'm off to brush up on my linux skillz in case I'm wrong. Linux will have the power of DOSFREAK! -
heh. Geforce 2 GTS runn' fine on my VP6 + 700E. 4X AGP + Fastwrites.
-
Throw the drive away. LLF's do not "usually" help. Bad sectors mean more are on the way.
-
Yep, I reinstall a couple of times a month. Probly about once a week. Different configurations and stuff I try out.
-
Just got it today. Anyone know how to get that stoopid bar off the left hand side?

Stable AMD SMP systems? I'm waiting next christmas. Then it'll be either Dual P4 2g+ or Dual Tbird+. [This message has been edited by DosFreak (edited 16 January 2001).]
