"now for DosFreak, you list a lot of problems that people have when they run it on a crappy system, slow? never slow here. Problems? not a problem here....100 M RAM eaten? get a life" I have note listed people with alot of problems. I just quoted your quotes of pr-man. Have you never heard of optimization? Oh I'm big bad man with 1g of ram an unoptimized buggy GUI that wasted 40m more ram than it needs is no bother to me. Man, I'm glad you don't code and if you do code I hope nobody uses your code.

"Because they are watching themselves, remember with windows me where if your computer shut off faster than the cache could be saved to the drive or something like that, it could crash, cause errors and also because it's safer to shut down slower, trust me, gives Windows time to clean up the mess." Partly correct. Their is more crap for NT to deal with so it takes longer to shut it all down (Services, new GUI, System Restore). The ME cache thing has nothing at all to do with NT. "Whistler = Win2k = not true. If your going to install Win2k drivers to Whistler, than expect some problems, don't ***** about it" TRUE. Wether you want to admit it or not Whistler at it's core is Windows 2000. Windows 2000 drivers will work perfectly fine in Whistler. Also he's not ***** about it. He's describing a problem not complaining. "Eats RAM Really? New GUI, doing many changes of 9x and NT to it....hmm, common sense buddy." Yeah, it's pretty sad when your OS eats up 100m of ram all by itself. Sad indeed. The GUI has ALOT of work. For instance the slow responsiveness of the GUI is partly due to the fact that it performs it using Blits. "Slow response when reading CD Not here it doesn't and not on my friend's machine, your CD-rom must suck or something." In Build 2257 Whistler was tottally unable to see my DVD drive at all. It's likely that they modified th Atapi driver's. If you rip them out of 2000 then you should be able to get it working. "Use the compatibility mode shortcut thing that appears on your desktop, it's better than the slow ass winme thing." The slowass help stuff is extremely annoying. Hopefully the PRO versions of Whistler won't have all the crap the Personal versions do.

Yep, the 6.34 are the best.

I like the way MS lists their specs. It's more realistic to the product. It lists what the OS requires. Not the optimal configuration. Windows 2000 runs fine on a P200 with 96m of ram. Stable as heck. Good for writing letters or surfinf the net.

Works fine here. DX8 and 6.34.

"All need is Doom95 then will all every thing work copy full ver *.wad over to it, By the way this was very frist DX gmaes hehe." Doom95 is terrible compared to JDoom. Try it SHS.

Win2k Pro and Games: Still lower performance than win9x?

Oops, I read your other post. Sorry dunno how to fix. Newer Creative drivers would perhaps be the key but I doubt Creative will release 'em any time soon. -

You can set the affinity for apps with SMP. ( Assigning apps to different processors).

UT hasn't crashed like that for me in a long time probly pre 4.20.
-
Install the 6.34 drivers. Use OGL in UT.
-
Have you been messing around with services lately or the kill command?

Could someone help me how to install Win98SE in existing W2K

Get the latest: Motherboard drivers Sound drivers Get the 6.34 drivers for your video card. -
Update to the 6.34 Nvidia drivers and try Diablo 2 again in D3D. If still laggy play it in 2D.
-
Install latest drivers and then put Mini GL driver in Quake directory.
-
UBB hacks are difficult to implement and make it harder to move to a newer version of the board when implemented. I seriously doubt they would do that.

Quake 2 runs fine in NT5. You problem points to a system instability. Upgrade your drivers. -
