Hmmm, The ATI Maxx card is not supported in Windows 2000 I think. You can use the Rage Pro drivers for 2D (I think....) but it's highly unstable.

Turn off ACPI in the bios.

It isn't Directx itself. It's crappy drivers.

It's probably the AGP driver. Install again and when it gets to the blank screen, reboot. Press F8 when it tells ya to and boot into safe mode. If VGA mode pops up come back and I'll tell ya what to do next.

I upgraded from a G400 to a Geforce 2 GTS 64m. Go for it. The Geforce is the best Windows 2000 video card out there. BUT play Diablo 2 in 2D. Performance in that game is still worse than my G400 using the 6.34 drivers.

Have you installed the latest bios? Installed using Non-ACPI? Taken out all hardware?

Yes you can play it but you can go no higher than 320X200 and you will have no sound. You can not get a higher resolution because it requires VESA.

1- I noticed that build 2250 is named PRO EDITION and on 2257, PERSONAL EDITION. Are there any differences between the two (other than the fact that one is more recent than the other)? Wich one is better? "There are different versions of Whistler. Personal,Pro,Server,Advanced Server". Personal is for home users so it will be more newbiesh and probably more cripple than Pro. 2-On my server comp, I am dual booting on WinME and Win2000. Wich OS should I use to intall Whistler to avoid complications? Is it possible to have a "triple booting"? 2000 will run on a 486. 2000 Server can run on less than 32m of ram. I don't recommend it....but it can.

Imperialsm probably requires DX6. You only have Dx3. NT4 will not run it.

Use the science screensaver from 9x. (I think that's the one.) The one that ripples the deskop and stuff. Replace logon.scr in NT with that screensaver (rename the new screensaver to logon.scr).

Can you try another CDR program? So we can pinpoint the problem? If DATA works audio should too....
