SP1 does update the UDFS.SYS. (I just checked the SP1 update and it's in there. Haven't checked version info.). Try the udfs.sys from the Windows 2000 CD. Expand it into the dllcache and system32 folders.

Windows Media Player 7 is causing your problems and just for kicks I'll repeat what's already been said. ADAPTEC 3.5C works fine in Windows 2000. The ony thing that sucks about it is that you have to install ASPI wheras with 4.0 it has it's own internal ASPI that is installed when you install 4.0.

"Hi There, I visited a local computer shop, they have something call Pandex TNT2 M64 32MB 3D AGP Video Card w/h TV out. Is it something worth a try or else? They are selling it for about $140. What do you think?" If they are charging $140 for an M64. You should go down there and give 'em the smack down. That's a rip off.

I don't know where you guys get the 9x is easier for newbies than NT is. It's all about the Windows experience. Sure Windows 2000 doesn't have huge help screen with big letters telling ignorant users what to do in an emergency but it's just as user-friendly as let's say Windows 98. Whistler will have the ME "friendliness" YUK! + More when it comes out. But 9x has been around since 1995...... Also it's not that hard to type in a password and in fact I recommend it for a 1 computer home with multiple people. Geesh, it isn't that hard even for a newbie to figure out Windows 2000. I'm not talking out of my something either. I've dealt with newbies. I build systems every day. I started out on C64's. Heck, if you can't figure out how to move a cursor a click on an icon then I guess people today are just dumber.

Yep, HS is fixed. The fix is in the APP Toolkit but Microsoft never put it in their Updates. I guess they lost it and a whole lotta other stuff too. Sorry if my post was kinda cryptic. I don't have the full game of Superbike but I'll play around with the demo for ya.

Time to play Devil's Advocate - Do we really need RAID in de
DosFreak replied to BladeRunner's topic in Hardware
I'm seriously thinking about going SCSI. I do video work and I'd like to get into raid. But unfortunately SCSI drives are too expensive. BUT fibre channels drivers are not. Anyway since I have a CDR it's not like I need alot of space anyway. I'd say about 50g would do me good. Ultra160 50g hd. Time to go searchin'. -
I stuck in my Diablo I CD A 4 YEAR OLD GAME. It STILL works in 2000. It STILL passess all of the system tests. Makes ya wonder doesn't it. Stupid POS companies. Blizzard rules.

I call 75gb drivers for $600 dirt cheap. 150gb for around $1k sounds good to me! -
Have you tried the latest video card drivers for your machine? Those application compatibility fixes just fix problems between the program and Windows 2000. They don't actually fix the game. They mostly just "lie" to the program to get it to run.

hahah Directx 3 is in Directx 4! DOH! Well I guess technically it is! I meant NT4.
-
That's the way to do it. Set your pagefile to 300/300 for starts and then constantly check your MEM usage/peak mem.
-
Directx started in NT with NT4. Directx 3 is in Directx 4. With a hack you can get it up to DirectX 5. Good Job IntlHarvester I've long since given up arguing with Jdulmage. It's a losing battle because even tho your statements are right they just bounce off like water on a duck. Don't even try.

Winddows NT 4.0 vs Windows 2000: Why Should I Upgrade?
DosFreak replied to unix_based_punk's topic in Hardware
Too much to list. If it runs on NT4. It will run on 2000. There is no reason not to run 2000 if your already running NT4. -

If the HD is on the 66 controller your gonna need to press F6 when it tells ya and insert the drivers for the controller.

Have you updated your bios?

Yep, Systemlogic isn't really a newbie page. Also believe it or not everyone is not on the internet. Most advanced users are using 2k.

The reason they don't do it is: 1. Most of their market is using 9x. Why waste time programming for NT if almost all of their buyers are 9x? (I know I know chicken and egg). I don't like it but that's how they think. 2. Microsoft has stated that it's a "business" OS. Programmers don't run a company. Idiotic bosses do. If Microsoft say's it's a "business" OS. The programms gotta listen to their bosses. The good companies with NT drivers have good management. 3. Heh. If the company offered bad support for 9x & NT4 well I think you've got your answer already.

??? 1. Install H+ Drivers 2. Use Creative DVD player or 1. Install H+ Drivers 2. Install H+ Software. 3. Download Zone Selector and use Zone Selector to play the H+ Software. or 1. Install Dxr3 Beta drivers. {YUK!) or 1. Try that hack that some people use for some weird reason.

I wouldn't recommend Technet unless you have a Modem. There beta's are Ooooooolllldd. If you have a fast connection your better off downloading them off the net and heck since you have Technet and you'd be getting them anyway it's not illegal!

How much Virtual? If you have 128m kick that swap file up to 300/300 AT LEAST if your gaming. Mine is at 500/500. If you check your Task Manager/Commit Charge/Peak mem after running Unreal Tournament that will show you how much RAM Unreal Tournament Peaked at.

I know. I've been waiting for GlDuke FOREVER. Hope it's good when it's done! heh. Been waiting for Duke Nukem FOREVER for about the same time......

*It only took 3hrs to install because of your slow cdrom. Don't use 4x or 6x cdroms. Stick a 20x in there and install time will decrease to around an hour.
