Here's what I do. 1. Install H+ Drivers. 2. Install H+ Station software. 3. Copy Zone Selector to station directory and make a shortcut to desktop. 4. Reboot. 5. Open Station with Zone Selector. Works fine. Never tried different regions though.

Anyone figured out how to make Win2k give up more than 45 m
DosFreak replied to pr-man's topic in Games
Hmmm, I did further testing awhile back. Install DX8 build 146 would make 3Dmark 2000 v1.1 crash alot. So I put DX7 back on and replace the DX7 ddraw.dll with the DX8 Build 146 ddraw.dll. Instead of 0.1fps in the 64m test I got 50something fps in the 64m test. So try replacing the dx7 ddraw.dll with the dx8 ddraw.dll -
I've updated the Slipstream info. I'll post the modified version tommorow......If I remember. (Probably won't )

Download Virtualdub and SnapStream. Search for them on www.google.com oh and SHS I can fit 720X272 (because I take out the black bars) DVD movies using Mpeg 4 V2 encoding at the quality you see. Almost all movies take 2 discs.

If your motherboard properly supports ACPI then yes it is the proper way to go. But if it doesn't then it's best to go with Standard PC. I still do standard anyway because I don't use the ACPI features and I don't quite trust it.

Make sure your not sharing any IRQ's. I think this is user error more than anything else. Upgrade to latest drivers, don't share IRQ's blah blah blah.

From 700 to 800? Yes, Improve voltage. in .1 increments until stable. 1.67 should be good.

You could try slowing things down. Memory and such to pinpoint the exact problem. I would recommend slowing everything down in the bios, overclocking the processor and then run one of the processor testing progs from www.tweakfiles.com or run a looping timedemo.

"I have plenty of friends with win98 who dont get any probs at all." "This is obviously something in win2k aritechture that isnt letting me do this" Yes, there is. NT is based on stability. 9x is just 9x. It's there. 1. NT is more memory intesive than 9x. 2. NT is more processor intesive than 9x. 3. NT requires more stable drivers than 9x. "I am simply clocking my 700e, to 800" You imply that overclocking is "simple". Yes the function of overclocking is simple. Change one bios option and away we go and 9x boots rights up and games happily. All the while errors creep up where you don't even notice them. NT does.

Start/Settings/Control Panel/System Device/Hardware/Device Manager Look at your SCSI and IDE controllers.

Sounds like a pretty legitimate answer to me. About as legitimate as you can get. Seriously try underclocking and try it. "I boot windows just fine, but when i try to use a processor intesive application" Classic symptom of overclocking.

Nope. No diff.

The latest Norton Corporate is 7.03! Go get it! GO to www.arstechnica.com and scroll down the main page to find the Antivirus shootout.

It still looks like ****. They better offer an option to turn off that crappy logon screen. What is this Windows for Dummies? On my network with all the password calls I get I can see the reason why, but for me that stupid screen really ticks me off.

Go to www.google.com and search for Startup Control Panel.
-
1. Boot to dos. 2. Rename win.com to win.pos 3. Start ME Setup.
-
Server will not install unless you have 64m. But you can bypass that by editing a file.
-
No download Zone selector and load the Station software with that.

Creative Live! drivers give a crawl for GF 256DDR ?
DosFreak replied to ProjectUnfinished's topic in Hardware
Have you tried without ACPI? My system runs fine on 6.18 with 3D Prophet 2 GTS 64m on a BE6 with a P3550@633 and an Sblive!. -
Yes, it will. Processor is fine but you really REALLY need some more memory. Windows 2000 AS without any of the services for server loaded takes up 58m all by it's little self.

With my G400 in Windows 2000 when it got to the 64m test it said that it could not run it because I did not have enough memory. When I stuck in a 3D Prophet 2 GTS 64m (Geforce 2 GTS with 64m of vram) I would get a BSOD as soon as the texture loading bar gets all the way to the right. IT'S A DRIVER PROBLEM. -
Huh? Lemme get this straigh. One demo runs slow so you think it's a problem with DX8? Anyways...if you wanna revert to a previous DX look for dxu*.exe in your C:\winnt directory.

Most problems are people not knowing their stuff. Just picked up a 3d Prophet 2 GTS 64 yesterday (Upgrade from a G400, and before that a TNT1). AH, it's good to be back with Nvidia!
