1. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q255/6/29.ASP 2. Is most likely something to do with your Creative software. Probably that media detection program it loads in startup. Uninstall Liveware and install liveware 3. ------------------ C:\Dos C:\Dos\Run \Run\Dos\Run

6.4 is still on your computer.... -
Runs fine with Liveware 3 drivers in NT5 on my Matrox G400.

About a month or so ago (probably more)I popped my old DV550 into my computer to compare it to my Matrox G400. I used the 5.13 drivers Quake 3 & UT ran fine.

Hauppauge WinTV. I've heard that they have problems with Athlon mobo's though. Runs fine on my P3 BX chipset. oh yeah...ATI suxs. -
Works fine here. Very fine. Of course I didn't install Liveware 3.0....just the drivers. The only problem I have with Thief 2 in Windows 2000 is that I only have 128m of RAM. So if Windows 2000 is currently using 131mg of RAM and I load up Thief 2 then occasionaly the game will freeze (usually after loading a saved game) for a couple of seconds and try to get some RAM.

ISO to put it simply is basically an exact copy of a CD placed into one file. For instance if I made a copy of Windows 2000 to ISO. It would be 2000.ISO. WHat are the benefits of this? Well it's easier for multiple copies, it's usefull for a slow system (it doesn't have to read directories or file just one file).
-
The slowdown is common. Most of us hardcore users just install the drivers and do not install the Livware POS if we are really worried about it.
-
Yes. You can use PC66,PC100,PC133,PC150 in yer old laptop. The only problem you may encounter is if the laptop doesn't support that AMOUNT of memory. Is 32mb all that you are going to put in?

They've had flash bios for a loooooooooooonnnng time. Just flashed a P75@90 yesterday with a "new" bios. heh.

I will finish by saying that I am a gamer and I only have Windows 2000 loaded on my machine at home. Just about every new game I buy works in 2000 and the ones that don't work I don't care about.

"Win2k still does not work well for gaming." True but that is not Microsoft's fault. "It sucks." Sucks at what? Gaming? Yes. But like I said before that's not Microsoft's fault. "It is unstable as hell." Never been to Hell. I'm sure some parts of it may be stable some not. I guess it depends on what punishment you have. Seriously the only reason it would be unstable is if you had bad drivers. Who's fault is that? Now if they are WHQL then ask blame Microsoft. "It gives the user strange visual annomolies." Dum-de-dum-dum-dum. DRIVER PROBLEM "The DirectX layer is low-performance and low-reliablity." Nope. Sorry. DirectX is fine. DRIVER problem. "While Win9x (which is supposed to be lower-reliablity than Win2k) is perfect." HA!. "Will Mircosoft ever fix Win2k's DirectX support so that it will run games well." No. Nothing wrong with Directx. They will of course release DX8 and other DX releases but your problems are driver problems. "I am sick of every multimedia app on the planet, i.e. games and DVD, crashing my system." Well here a couple of tips: 1. Blame the company that made your stuff. NOT MICROSOFT. 2. Get the proper hardware that is certified to run in NT5. 3. Know what your doing. 4. Check out what is compatible with 2000 and what is not before you rush into things. 5. Stop ranting on boards and learn your stuff.

Liveware 3.0 for Windows2000: Where the hell is it?
DosFreak replied to Mondain98's topic in Hardware
I will flame only one thing.... The "leaked" (I still have theoris over this one) detonators are not for WHQL. They are for internal beta testing. I hate it when people diss Nvidia for their internal drivers. Diss them for their official ones, okay? -
If you insert your Windows 2000 disc and boot off of it you can format your driver using NTFS or FAT32. You can read your drives with a Dos boot disk but you need a third party utility.
