Could you list your specs please? I noticed in another thread that you had an integrated video card, which probably means that you have a crappy computer (Sorry but it might be true!) so that may be why it doesn't work.

1. For some strange reason 2000 does put io.sys,msdos.sys,and autoexec.bat in the root directory of your C: drive even if you have a NTFS partition. These are zero byte files and of course do not do anything. I just wish they would stop coming back! On every single computer I have ever installed NT4work/Serv and NT5pro/Serv these stupid files keep on reappearing. 2. My Quote "I heard someone mention that DOS can not exist on an NTFS partition. Untrue DOS can exist on a NTFS partition. Install 2000, make an NTFS partition, copy DOS disks or a dos directory to your NTFS partition. There ya go! Duh...commonsense." As you can see I did not say that you booted with Dos or that NT used the Dos files in any way, I just said that you can put Dos on your drive contradicting what you said. That's where the "Duh...commonsense." comes from. Man this is one messed up thread.

I haven't really looked at this for very long but it looks like the dllcache folder is compressed and that there are some files in this folder that are not in any other directory on the HD. What I am thinking this directory is for is for that System File Protection stuff. (Where if you overwrite a windows file, then windows will take the file out of dllcache and replace it.)

Hmmm, I haven't tried my card out in Millenium yet, just in 2000. Some day when I get the time I will eventually play around with it in Millenium. The only reason I have ME on my computer right now is because I will be going to a LAN party next month to play some games.....so I don't really care if it works in ME or no. But I'll check it out just for you! -

Geesh...I'm going to put up with this discussion even if it pains me. 1st list what software did not work and did work with JUST the 2000 installation. 2nd list what software NOW works with Dos installed first and then 2000. Also tell us EXACTLY how you installed the OS'S on your computer.

Also it's a good idea to delete all of the files out of that temp directory periodically.

1. Get a bigger HD. 2. Use NTFS. 3. Delete all HELP files. 4. Delete all *.gid files. 5. Delete all *.bak files. (Be careful!) 6. Delete all *.cnt files. 7. Delete all *.old files. (Be careful!) 8. Get a bigger HD. 9. Use Compression. 10. Fdisk and then formar C:, Install DOS. 11. Get a bigger HD.

Well to be fair the Voodoo3 3500 sucks for video. If you want good video for cheap get an ATI Allinwonder or preferably I would recommend getting the WinTv Theater. I just bought the Theater 2 days ago and it runs perfectly in 2000. I haven't bothered to set it up in Millenium yet...but hey it works in 2000! The WinTV theater comes with:

No. The HLT has nothing to do with your sound card. 1. Download latest drivers. 2. Move the sound card to a different slot. 3. Buy a good sound card.

Yes. Download the latest BETA drivers from Hauupage. I got it to work 2 days ago. So list the problems you are having with it and I will almost certainly be able to help.

The file PQMAGICT.EXE in the Partition Magic directory is the only file you need to convert partitions in dos.

I think I saw in another post some time ago that someone said that the company that produced Rogue Spear said that is was a DirectX problem. Since there is nothing wrong with NT's DirectX, I guess we'll have to wait for a patch for the game.

Get TweakUI or download Winbench 99.

Right click on the .INF file and choose Install.

Full Win2K driver support. It also comes with an adapter that lets you use either USB or PS/2. Some people don't like this mouse though because they think it is too big. Also when you first start using it if you spin the mouse too fast in a FPS game your POV might look up or down. But after you get used to it it almost never happens.

With an Intellieye you don't need a mousepad!

SHS'S is a newer version not much of a difference though except the interfact is alot more scrunched up and looks weirder....it does everything I need it to do though.

If you set it to Manual then if a program needs it it can always turn it on. If you set it to disabled then it can't turn it on. I stressed the disable for Remote Registry Services for security reasons.

Make your page file one permanent size. To be safe set it to 512mb. Now go to Dos and delete the pagefile.sys in your C: directory. Reboot.

It may be slower because 2000 looks for Active Directory and all of that other crap. It will run much faster if your server is running 2000 and your using 2000 pro. But if your using NT4 server and 2000 pro the network access will seem slower.

Go to www.win2kworld.com. Go to the Downloads section and download the "TweakUI 2000 with "CMD" Tab"
