Also Disable the Remote Registry service too.

Also the Indexing Service is automatically installed whenever you install Pro (unless you specify otherwise). Remove the Indexing Service

Nice ftp. Nope I don't have it. Hopefully Technet will send a copy but I don't know.

If you would like to mess around with the Command Prompt in NT5. Edit the Config.NT or the Autoexec.nt files in the \winnt\system32 directory.

Weeeeeeeellll.....It's not as simple as all that. Microsoft had that free giveaway of 2000 so I e-mailed all of my friends. One of my friends got the free copy but I never got one! So I of course HAD to have one because if I had never e-mailed him he would never have found out. (They don't surf the net as much as I do). So I have a copy of 2000....but I guess it isn't really legal? or is it? hehehhe But anyways....I am in the Air Force and we have a contract with Microsoft that all future versions of Windows are basically upgrades. So we had NT4 Workstation/Server we get an automatic upgrade to W2K Pro/Server. So my friends copy (he's in the Air Force too) is now the copy that we are using on almost all the computers on base. THIS IS LEGAL because we have the licenses. So since I am the one who upgrades and fixes the computers for the whole base I get a copy too! So.....I consider myself fully LEGAL with 2000! Whoooo....what a long speech. ANYONE WANNA ARGUE? HUH? COME ON! I KNOW SOMEBODY'S GONNA ARGUE WITH ME!

Go to Star,RUN and type in DXDiag. You will see Directx 7. Right now the only version of Directx for 2000 comes with 2000.

Quantus really thinks windows 2000 sucks? Tell us how he is
DosFreak replied to Arin's topic in Hardware
I am going to post benchmarks comparing the 2 tommorow. Some people may be suprised but the NT4/5 veterans will not be. -
I am not even going to bother responding to that statement. I will say one thing though. Ever hear of a prog called Norton Antivirus 2000? It's made by a small company called Symantec.

Anyone been able to get a Mustek scanner to work under Win2K
DosFreak replied to Andy_25's topic in Hardware
Thanks for the info man! Someone at work was wondering when they would be releasing new drivers. -
The Win9x upgrade folder is for the people who don't know how to install NT right and want to upgrade their existing 9x to NT.
-
Those drivers that came from the CD? Are you using a Soundblaster Live!? Is that the drivers CD you installed?
-
Also, Have you updated the game to the latest version?
-
Bwuahahahahahahahhaha. I would recommend something...but you probably have heard it a million times before.

I use an ABIT BE6 and I have my Matrox 6800 27.2g 7200rpm DMA/66 on the 66 controller. Yesterday I deleted 2 .vob files 1g each. Both files deleted in less than 2 seconds. I'm happy. ------------------ C:\Dos C:\Dos\Run \Run\Dos\Run
