    Help on DOS needed!

Why not? setup.bat xcopy /I /H /S website %SYSTEMDRIVE%\website del %SYSTEMDRIVE%\website\setup.bat This assumes setup.bat is in the root of the CD and website is a subdir on the CD.

    FF7

You could email/sony and ask 'em. Thread close.
  3. Yeah, customization would be nice. I just hate to see the comment system go to waste. I see sites like slashdot\Ars Technica\warp2Search\any other site where the comment system is used to great effect...then you go to NT\LinuxCompatible and the front page changes so rapidly that there isn't much of a chance to comment. It also invites people to discuss things, whereas the current system people just read through the page real fast (or use RSS...mabye), and then go to the links...
  4. heh. Nah, NT and Linux Compatible share Feedback forums since both forums share the same layout it makes sense. Should have put Linux Compatible in the poll too...lemme see....
  5. Personally, the various utilities catch my eye occasionally but I really don't care about 'em. The actual News is what catches my eye which is why I read Slashdot alot. I also think it would make the comment system alot more usefull if the main page primarily focused on news related items instead of tons of little utilities.

    The Lord of the Rings

I immediately thought he was talking about this: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/jrr-tolkiens-the-lord-of-the-rings-vol-ii-the-two-towers when I first saw his post.

You can't emulate a PS2 game on the PC. Only PS1 games currently. IIRC, there is a PC ver of that crappy game.

Sims 2 Problem Solving Part Deux

Quote: Processor x86 Family 6 Model 5 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~400 Mhz If that is really how fast your computer is then you don't want to run Sims 2 on it. It'll load assuming you have a good graphics cards but it'll be so slow you'll want to kill yourself....or your computer.

    Unknown files

Occasionally an update can break something...so it's best to leave 'em in case you need 'em.
  10. Possibly a corrupt profile. Have you tried deleting their profiles on the servers? Also there are process monitors where you can see what it accessing the .DAT files...although it's probably Windows just getting hung on accessing the corrupted file. Hey! An American Psycho fan...that is one of my favorite lines from the movie. Still need to find the book..haven't read it yet.
  11. ?? The same stuff it's always been good for. Just less secure since MS choses not to update it and potentially not as compatible since companies force installations to only install on XP. I still use it because I like it and of course no activation. I'll never pay for activation enabled products....EVER. I found out a couple of months ago that Alcohol 120% uses activation (I paid for the product 2yrs ago), when I updated to the latest version and it wouldn't let me use it because I had to activate it. (Turns out I had to sign in to the website and play around with the keys). **** that! I immediately went back to the older version without activation and started to re-evaluate other products. Thinking about buying Blindwrite instead..... (It copies disc that Alcohol never did and it's less bloated).
  12. Yeah, xp is fine for that laptop. If that HD came with it (which I doubt), look into getting a faster 7200 RPM HD. Should improve performane alot.....and probably reduce battery usage due to new tech.

Nothing to be concerned about. Basically the post was removed.

    Another FF7 related question

    1. Buy PS1/PS2. 2. Buy FF7 and Enjoy or 1. Buy FF7 for PS. 2. Download EPSX 3. Play FF7 and enjoy. Avoid the the PC version.

Problem with Starcraft on Windows XP

It sounds like your relying on Autoplay for some odd reason (Big no no, especially for older games), Have you tried running the setup.exe from the CD?

installing red alert 2 in virtual pc

RA2 has never frozen for me but it's possible that it uses a 16bit installer and NTVDM is acting up. If so then when it "freezes", hit ctrl+alt+del to get into task manager, find the NTVDM process and end it. This should allow setup to continue. This has worked for me with other installshield games/programs in the past.

    Untitled thread

FAKK2: Yep, the patch cannot find the game. I had to use an installshield decompressor to decompress the files and place them in the game directory. I'll see if I can pull the patch out tonight, identify the installshield ver and the installshield decompression version required and post 'em here. Rune/Oni: Can you post the error message you get and what exactly is telling you it's incompatible? Post a screenshot if possible. (JPG/GIF I'm on a slow connection) Don't know what to tell ya there. Never had a problem with it in NT4/2000/XP/2003.

    Untitled thread

Geez, you should read post seperate topics for each game....but too late now... Quote: HOW can I run Heavy Metal FAKK 2 on Windows XP SP2? Someone told me in a forum how to run it, but I cannot do that, because it´s really hard. It´s about to change a file from the patch installation in the temp file. Can anybody explain it better? IIRC, last time I played FAKK2 on XP I had to install the patch.....but the patch wouldn't install so I believe I had to decompress and place the files manually. I'll check my compatibility list to make sure. Is this your problem? Can you explain your problem better? Quote: What about Rune? Why take 2's old games are so unestable on XP? What's the problem? It should work fine. Quote: I have other games I cannot run on my PC: Oni (take 2 again!!)and Shadowman. What's the problem with Oni or Shadowman? Oni works fine on my computer, the demo for ShadowMan works fine too. Quote: Can I emulate Windows 98 with Virtual PC and run a game with this program. The games you mentioned run fine under XP. No, you cannot play these games under Virtual PC. Quote: Many people have told me to make a partition on my hard disk, but I don´t how to do that. I have a Windows 98 CD, but I don´t know how to install it without a floppy disk. You don't need to do this. These games work fine on Windows XP. You need to explain your problems with EACH game better and then perhaps people can help you.

Running Championship Manager 2 with DosBox

Sounds like dosbox doesn't like the copy protection so you'll likely need a CD crack. Have you tried CM2 under XP without DosBox?
  22. Battlefield 2 Readme.txt requirements: Quote: - Operating System Windows XP (32 Bit Version) - CPU Battlefield 2 supports the following processors: Intel Pentium 4 Intel Xeon Intel Pentium Extreme Edition Intel Celeron D AMD Athlon XP AMD Athlon 64 AMD Athlon 64-FX AMD Sempron processor - Minimum Specification: CPU: 1.7 Ghz RAM: 512 Mb Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500 with 128 Mb of RAM - Recommended Specification: CPU: 2.4 Ghz RAM: 1 Gb Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM - Video Cards Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards: Radeon X700 (PCIe) Radeon X600 (PCIe) GeForce 6600 (PCIe) GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe) GeForce 5800 Series (AGP) ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition ATI Radeon X800 PRO ATI Radeon 9800 Series ATI Radeon 9600 Series ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX) ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series ATI Radeon 8500 Series ATI Radeon X300 Series NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra NVidia GeForce 6800 GT NVidia GeForce 6800 NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series Even if your BIOS does allow you to do so you'd be stealing valuable system memory away from the game/OS that needs it....not to mention how slow your video card is. It came out in like Serious Sam/Max Payne day's didn't it? and it's a mobile chipset part which means it's not even as fast as the desktop chipsets of the time. Mabye if you can play the game at 320x200 you'd be fine....(Okay, perhaps I'm exageratting a bit. )
  23. Dunno... 1. Dual-boot with DOS/9x 2. Access FAT32 partition with standard DOS disk. 3. Greater fragmentation and increased risk of data corruption. 4. Your crazy? Do a start/run/cmd.exe Convert /? convert /FS:NTFS C: Haven't used convert since Windows 2000 (back then it would use 512byte cluster size) but I think it only happens occasionally in Windows XP and since your video files are on D: then it's not that big of a deal if it does.
