No, DosBox doesn't recognize the Mercs CD but it does work for the MW2 CD. How many CD drives do you have? If you have multiple CD drives try the CD drive that has a letter closer to C: than your other drive. Also try to change the drive letter closer if you can. Before you do that tho check your autoexec.nt file and make sure that this line is in there: %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe

Hmmm, try this. Go to command prompt CD to your Mech2 directory Type in: DOSDRV Then NOLFB Then Mech2 or mercs or whatever the executable name is. Report back if this fixes your CD problem. It should since this way your using NT's Config/Autoexec.NT instead of VDMSound's.

XP 64 and 2003 64 are pretty much the same OS....but obviously XP is the OS that will be most supported. As far as games tho...almost all games are 32bit so running a 32bit game on a 64bit OS is just the same as running the game on a 32bit OS, there won't be any speed increase. Frankly it's not worth the trouble unless you have a real NEED to use a 64bit OS.

Just increase the memory timing in your BIOS. Also download memtest86+ and test out your memory.

Can't really see the picture that well but usually graphics problems are either due to faulty hardware or newer drivers that are incompatible with older hardware. If you have a driver CD for your video card then I recommend installing the drivers from that.

If you have the DOS version you could try that and see if it does the same thing. Can't really help with the freezing problem. Never experienced that with C&C and I doubt it's a system problem since C&C isn't very resource intensive by today's standards.

Never played Conquest multiplayer but it sounds like your having network connectivity issues. You could try the game under DosBox and if the problem doesn't occur under there then it's likely that the host computer or OS is incompatible. DosBox http://ykhwong.x-y.net/page.htm

Is it possible to get rid of the 1-300+ page numbers. Most sites do the standard 1-10, and then have the "Next Page", "Last Page" options. I doubt anyone actually clicks through each and every page...unless they are really really bored.
-
Sorry, we can't do that on these forums. Use www.google.com or astalavista.box.sk Also Serials 2000 and their kind can probably help. Thread closed.

Wish I was at a computer that I could test with. Visiting my parents and VPC/Vmware doesn't work on their K63. Qemu works.....but it'll be painful to install NT4. I believe there is a non-installer ver of firefox for win32...probably the nightly builds.

Have you surfed to the directory manually in your Program Files folder?

Can't really say much on the subject except that Phillip has his reasons........I doubt that your going to get much more of an answer than that since the issue is kind of touchy.

Leisure Suit Larry 7 on Win 200 Pro/SP4 - Strange Behavior
DosFreak replied to CatWoman55's topic in Games
Don't have LSL7 so can't really help but you may want to give the trial of Virtual PC a try. According to: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php?showID=2074&letter=L&search=leisure LSL7 works fine. If your interested in trying to get it working then try here: Http://vogons.zetafleet.com (Official DosBox forum) -
SMART monitors many things about your HD. Depending on the BIOS it will actually show the different items that it monitors but usually you'll either have to load your Diagnostic Floppy/CD to see where exactly your HD has gone wrong. From your post it's hard to tell but if you were able to boot up then it's quite likely that your data can be recovered.

Well can't help that much because I lost my copy long ago but I do see some problems. #1: Try the game under Windows first. It may work...it may not...but if you've never used DosBox/DOS before then it may be the easiest way to get the game working. #2: If it doesn't work under Windows or doesn't work well then try DosBox. In DosBox do this: Mount c c:\games (The above command "c" creates a "virtual" C: drive under DosBox, The "C:\games" links your virtual C drive to the "C:\games" folder on your hard drive.) Mount d "Whatever CD Drive letter your Conquest CD is in" Install the game from the CD. (The above command "d" creates a "virtual" D: drive under DosBox, The "Whatever...." links your virtual d drive to your physical CD drive.) It's always best to use C: and D: drives for your virtual drivers for DOS games and not the actual physical drive letters since some DOS games are programmed sloppily. As for DOS4GW.....If you do have the original CD and if it does require DOS4GW then it should be on the CD. If not then copy one of your downloaded DOS4GW's to the Conquest directory. Look for any .EXE file and then type in DOS4GW "whatever the .EXE file is".

Installing Window NT on 250 GB Maxtor Sata HDD
DosFreak replied to sarvaiya_mitesh@yahoo.com's topic in Everything New Technology
You'd probably be better off running NT4 under Vmware or MS VPC under Windows XP... -
Also try adjusting your video card/sound card latency if needed.
