Nah, Download Everest Home Edition or Sisoft Sandra and find out what kind of memory you have. Check the SPD values. Then verify that your BIOS is set to the same values. If they are then try setting your memory to a higher value and rerun the memory tests. Take note of which memory chip memtest identified and take it out. Then rerun the tests. If you still have problems then yeah you'll need some new memory.

It's just a help file. Probably for a Digi wireless device. If it couldn't copy it off the CD then either 1. It's missing. 2. Your CD is scratched/dirty/corrupted. 3. Your computer memory is bad. So.... 1. Check your XP CD for digiras.ch_ 2. Clean your CD, after you do that manually copy the CD to your hard drive to verify that you can copy the files. 3. Run this for a couple of hours: http://www.memtest.org/

Don't have the game but it appears that either the program is trying to access the serial port or NTVDM thinks that it is....not really much you can do about it unless the program has a configuration program which can disable the access, which I doubt that it does. You may want to try DosBox: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net

Just download the files from the CreativeLabs website. Everything that you need is there....even the Creative Bloatware software that you shouldn't install. If the drivers don't install through the setup install, just use Device Manager and point to the location of the files.

USNF is a Dos game. Only way to get it working in 2000/XP is by using DosBox http://dosbox.sourceforge.net It's also possible that it may work under VPC but I know for sure that it works under DosBox.

DK2 uses copy protection. If you are not using the original CD and did not copy it correctly or if your CD drive is incompatible with the copy protection then you'll need to use a NO CD patch.

How did you solve the problem? It might help if someone asks again.

Running Championship Manager Season 01-02 on W/ XP SP2 ??? Help!
DosFreak replied to hcorem4lyf's topic in Games
It's probably looking for NT4 SP3. Have you tried compatibility mode? Right-click on setup, go to properties, go to compatibility tab, choose win95, Run setup. -
Have you tried: 1. Right-click on setup. 2. Go to properties. 3. Go to compatibility tab. 3. Choose Win95. 4. Run Setup.

Sorry! List was changed recently since I added Linux to the list I had to rename it to the PC Game Compatibility List instead of the NT Game Compatibility list. Link is here: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=8784 It's almost scary how big it is now..... When it becomes self-aware and starts writing code for Microsoft then I'll be really scared.

What's the problem? Almost all games should install fine, the problem is usually getting them to run. What happens when you try to install it? /Waits for 16-bit subsystem error......

I've noticed that I have to use the 44 Dets on my Parent's 5200 card too. For some reason the latests dets always crash.

Free up space on C: either by deleting unecessary stuff or using a program like Partition Magic to increase the partition size. Really these days with 2000/XP you NEED at the extreme least C: 6gb partitions unless you want to constantly monitor your C: paritions. When I used to split up C: (OS) and D: (Programs), I'd make C: at least 10gb. Unfortunately installshield requires installation of some files on C:...usually for uninstalltion information.

If you specs are correct then you have too little video memory for the Sims 2. If there is an AGP aperture setting in your BIOS then try setting it to 64meg or higher but even then your video card is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too ancient for Sims 2.

IIRC, there are sites that offer modified vers of the latest NVIDIA dets for laptops. Just look around a bit....found this one: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ -
Agreed. NLite is the best option.

TreeWalk DNS Server works. It's just BIND with a WIN32 installer and a GUI frontend but it's easier to setup.

Heroes of Might and Magic 2: XP Compatibility, I need help.

WING was the predecessor to DirectX used by Windows 3.1 programs. Just search the net for the WING file and place it in your SYSTEM32 directory. -
Probably the newer drivers. Every time I visit my parent's and try new NVIDIA drivers DK2 always crashes. Always have to revert back to the 61.77 drivers. They are using XP SP2 too. Same behavior as XP SP1. So it's not the SP, it's the drivers.
