suskis, If you wish you can post your patch at http://vogons.zetafleet.com Simply create a thread describing what the patch does, it's history, blah blah blah, then attach it to the post. Those who wish to download the patch will have to register tho or you could also try places like The Patches Scrolls but I don't know if they accept 3rd party patches.

XP SP2 loop due to bad video drivers - HELP!
DosFreak replied to woogie's topic in Everything New Technology
If it was just video drivers that was the problem then XP would use it's standard drivers just like when booting into Safe Mode. If you can't read the BSOD then it's kinda hard to help. Quote: but the CD apparently doesn;t do anything other than tell me to press F1 to retry boot or F2 for the setup utilit That's not the CD talking, that's the BIOS. Looks like your computer isn't booting off the CD. Did you check the BIOS to boot from CD? Quote: I cannot even get the disks to load beyond disk #3 as it comes up with a different error each time and kills the process. I'd love to be able to boot off the CD and try and recover some working video drivers. Been a long time since I used the floppies. Verify that it isn't a bad floppy....and what's the error? -
A store where you may BUY a copy, ebay where you may BUY a copy or a friend willing to SELL a copy. Get the picture? In case you don't. Abandonware isn't legal. There's a little thing called copyright. Learn it. Thread closed.

LOL! "Mod(s)"=DosFreak the Thread Closer Nut. Yeah, any thread without a reply for... What's a good number? 3 months? 1 month? Considering that the "mission" of the forum is to help people with their problems then any thread which hasn't been replied to within a month should probably be locked. If there's a good thread which hasn't been replied to then a Mod can simply unlock and bump it. Some may ask. Why lock threads at all? Problem is that most people replying to old threads are posting new problems that really do not have much similarity to the original post or topic title, thereby making it harder for them to receive help. I think the reason they do this is that they probably search for their game on google, find ntcompatible, click on the post, register, and then post in the thread to which they found the initial problem. Perhaps the absolute best way around this is to redirect the Hardware/Software/Game Compatibility comments feature to a specialized forum? (Not sure how Phillip has the Compatibility comments and the forum setup) and in addition perhaps open the Compatibility Database into some kind of Wiki format (except NTCompatible registration should required instead of anonymous....perhaps Senior Members only or something)

What advantages if any does Windows 2000 SP4 have over WinXP SP2?
DosFreak replied to pr-man's topic in Everything New Technology
XP SP2 is gear towards novice users and requires much tweaking to get it to the 2000 usability level. In terms of interface IMO 2000 is designed for 'pros'. In almost everything else XP excels, simply because it's NT 5.1. As Malaris stated it's really up to the individual/hardware/situation your in. -

XPSP2 as the above stated especially with wifi. -
NT4 Workstation can a client but not a host. If you wish to make it a host then you'll have to use a 3rd party program. You could do it with NT Server but it wouldn't be as easy to setup as ICS in XP. To do it with NT4 Workstation you'll have to use Wingate or somw other ICS program. It's been a long time since I used those programs so I can't really help ya there.

In the Troubleshooting Tab reduce Hardware Acceleration to the third notch from the left.

Once again, There is no DX6 for NT4. The closest thing to it was DX5 taken from an VERY early beta of Windows 2000 that you have to hack into NT4. The DX6 for NT4 is actually a program that changes the version numbers of NT4 DX3/DX5 to the version numbers of DX6.

If your using the original CD then check your CD volume settings in Volume Control. Also open the CD up with Media Player and see if it has a soundtrack on it. Finally you may want to see if your using the digital out cable on the back of your cdrom or if your using CD audio over IDE, properties can be check in device manager for your CD drive.

copy c:\windows\repair\config.nt and autoexec.nt to c:\windows\system32 Upgrade your spyware programs and or install the latest ver of spyware programs and scan your system since this problem may be caused by earlier versions of spyware scanning programs or spyware/antivirus themselves.

It's used in 2000/XP. When you view pictures in thumbnail view it saves the pics in there for quicker access.
