Usually I would say that whatever site that you are connecting to does not support https, for example if you connect to https://www.ntcompatible.com, you get an: "Cannot find server or DNS Error", because ntcompatible does not support https. W I haven't gone through the technet documentation or anything yet to look this up but first guess would be that a hotfix may have broken it. You could start uninstalling hotfixes OR download firefox and test https sites. If those https sites work under firefox then it must be an IE problem and you could narrow it down to that.

Seen any Sims 2 posts lately? Muahahahahhah!

NOLFB is required with some video cards when entering missions, since that initializes the 3D portion of the game. (In both Mech2/Mercs) It's also required in Mech2 when the screen where you enter your name pops up. Otherwise the screen will freeze. (Again only with some video cards). VDMSound with SHSUCDEX is required if you want Mechwarrior 2\Mercs audio as close to the DOS version as possible. SHSUCDEX is required for CD audio under NT4/2K/XP.

Of course, but the site isn't helpful for 2000/XP users.

1. You posted during the holiday season. 2. You never posted what your problem was. 3. You posted to an 1 year 4 month old thread. 3. You posted an incredibly rude post...and for that I am now going to close this thread. Good going!

I assume you don't mean Monkey Island 1/2, since they don't use installshield. That leaves either Curse of Monkley Island or Escape from Monkey Island. Which one? Sounds to me like missing files.

Buy a new computer? I'm not aware of any add-on boards that accelerate VCD's like the old Realmagic boards that accelerated DVD's. Cheapest route for you with least amount of effort would be to pick up a Sony DVD player that supports VCD playback.

When you do find a copy read this: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=7728 I wish I had all the different versions of Mechwarrior. Then I could simply run a windiff against them, find out what's different and then it would be simple to simply upload whatever files are needed for whichever ver of Mechwarrior a person had. The versions of Mechwarrior aren't that different. Unfortunately, it is pretty hard to get the copies unless you resort to downloading them off the net or scoure ebay/internet for hours.

Mech2 & Mercs for Win95 cannot be run in NT4/2000/XP due to a directx incompatibility somewhere. The only way to run Mech2 & Mercs under native Windows is to use the Dos version. (I think I may have heard of someone getting the Voodoo version working but I am not sure.) Now if you want to emulate the Windows version of Mechwarrior then you need to use either Virtual PC or VMware. Before you can get Mechwarrior going you first have to install an OS in Virtual PC or Vmware. Virtual PC/Vmware is basically another computer, so whatever actions you need to take to get an OS on a Real PC are the same actions you need to do on a Virtual PC. IIRC, the 95/98/ME CD's are not bootable. You'll need to insert a bootable floppy disk with CDROM support to boot the virtual machine, mount the physical 95/98/ME CD and then install 95/98/ME. Once you get 9x install, Then you may install Mech2/Mercs. If you install the latest updates for each game DO NOT install Direct3D when the updates ask. VirtualPC/Vmware do not support Direct3D. After all this trouble Mech2/Mercs will run....but the sound will be terrible (Virtual PC/Vmware have terrible sound support). Your better off using DOS mech2/mercs in NT4/2K/XP NTVDM, or using Dosbox (You'll get superior sound but you'll have to run in a lower resolution), or running the game in Real Dos.

Could someone explain to me the best way to download.......

Man look, HONESTLY i just REALLY want the FIFTH (5) Season of The Sopranos because HBO is too busy to put it on good ole DVD for the rest of the world considering the fact that the (FIFTH) season already ended MONTHS!! AGO and the SIXTH AND FINAL SEASON is about to BEGIN SOON Good one! You learn that in grade school? It's only been roughly 7 months. They probably weren't ready for a Christmas release...you know Christmas? It get's kind of busy around then. I doubt creator David Chase would want a rushed Fifth Season on DVD. Those commentaries (especially good ones) take a long time to set up. Quote: I MEAN what am i supposed to do HUH?!?!?!?!?, just PAY MORE MONEY TO MY ALRAEDY OUTRAGOUS CABLE BILL for HBO?!?!?! when all i want is one show, u think HBO is going to drop everything and play the 5th season over again just because i began subscribing>!?!?!?!??! I DONT THINK SO!!!! Oh, I dunno. Watch something else? Go to the gym? Read a book? Play a game? Get a GF? Get a life? That's the price you must pay if you wish to watch the latest and greatest. Shell out money. It's called life. The show has to make $$ somehow and The Sopranos is a big subscription boon for HBO. Quote: SO PLEASE SPARE ME!!!! (peterh) your sissy lame explanation that PIRACY IS BAD OOHOHOHOHOH!!!!! im gonna get in trouble, um lemme think????? how many people buy blank media for Honest purposes????? You know, it's people like you that make those of us who do download for legitimate purposes look bad. Yeah, how about you "think". Thinking would be a start. Piracy is bad. Now I don't know how "bad" downloading Soprano's, let's see. To watch Soprano's Fifth Season you must subscribe to HBO to watch it. Alternative are having a friend tape it or search the internet for a torrent. Obviously having a friend tape it for ya wouldn't be deemed illegal so likely neither would be a torrent. Of course it's hard to say what HBO would have to say about all this. They'd likely deem the torrent as more of a threat (more distribution, higher quality, etc). Tons of people buy blank media for honest purposes. School, backups, game backups, movie backups. (Yes, backing up your games and movies is legal.) Quote: I WOULD GLADLY PURCHASE IT FROM A FINE RETAILER, just let me know when HBO will get up off their ass and do it!!!!???? So once again, could ANYBODY help me with the FIRST QUESTION?????? Sure. Here comes that "thinking" thing again. Know what? I just spent 10 minutes researching and below is what I found out. No, first of all this is NTCOMPATIBLE not c00l733td00dzd0wn740@d43r3!!!, Second if you can't figure it out yourself then obviously you shouldn't be doing it. The following is what 10 minutes of "thinking" can do for you: 1st Season On TV the last episode, "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano" aired on 04-Apr-1999. The 1st season DVD wasn't released until December 12, 2000. That's 20 months or 1 year 8 months. 2nd Season On TV the last episode, "Funhouse" aired on 09-Apr-2000. The 2nd season DVD wasn't released until November 6, 2001. That's 19 months or 1 year 7 months. 3rd Season On TV the last episode, "The Army of One" aired on 20-May-2001. The 3rd season DVD wasn't released until August 27, 2002. That's 15 months or 1 year 3 months. Fourth Season On TV the last episode, "Whitecaps" aired on Dec 8, 2002. The Fourth Season DVD wasn't released until OCT 28, 2003. That's 11 Months. So in case you can't read that much here's a breakdown of how long it took each season to get on DVD from final air date of TV season: 1st Season=20 months 2nd Season=19 months 3rd Season=15 months 4th season=11 months See those figures? Are we seeing a pattern yet? Okay, now here's the biggie. The Sopranos Fifth Season on DVD The last episode of the fifth season of The Sopranos aired 6/6/2004. It is currently 1/14/2005. So roughly 7 months have passed. It would be a fair assesment to say that since each DVD release has gotten shorter each time that sometime between now and april The Sopranos Fifth season may appear....or it might not. -
No. Most people don't read the requirements. From what I've seen, since the Sims 1 ran on their computer they are assuming that the Sims 2 will run on their computer. LOL! That's like thinking Doom 3 will run your computer because Doom 1 does!!! I was quite disappointed to come home and find out that my sister bought the Sims 2, when 1. Her computer doesn't have a DVD drive, 2. The computer doesn't fit the requirements, 3. The Sims 1 ran like crap on her computer. Now I know that people cannot be expected to know everything about their computer but you'd expect that if your gonna shell out $50 for a product that you'd at least research it.

Heh. I agree. The feature did use to work for me. Can't say exactly when though. -
Well your DDI version is 7. If you have DX9 installed and DDI is reporting 7 then it's saying that your video card driver only supports up to Directx 7. Where did you download these drivers? Intel?

LOL! Compare VDMSOUND/Dosbox/Real DOS with Mechwarrior to XP sound emulation and you will see that VDMSound/Dosbox/Real Dos are FAR superior. You may have listened to a few quick sound samples and deemed it worthy but trust me.....it's not.

No your good. The "lost memory" is usally taken up by your computer bios. Nothing to worry about Depending on the bios it could also be how the bios calculates the amount of memory.

Just tried it with IE6 and I get the same behavior. IE on this computer has no history of this site since I never use IE. It will display 10-30 new forum topics before you click on it but once you click on it, it will display hundreds of topics.....
