2K/XP have a builtin limitation by MS to not support FORMATING of FAT32 partitions greater than 32GB. But it can SUPPORT those partitions if they are already created. So you'll HAVE to use FDISK. Yes it sucks but MS did this on purpose. Promotion of NTFS! They are sneaky like that. In fact it's my theory that they keep a constant list of all the things that they can enable/disavle/support in each windows version and future versions and then perform customer testing to determine the level of annoyance that it causes. They use this to decide what should/should not be included/enabled/disabled in each Windows release. How else can you explain all the things we've had to put up with over the years? Coincidence? Laziness? Complication of OS programming? Doubtful. It's all about $$$.

Hot Plug PCI is very old tech so I don't know why it was at the conference you went to. I've been hoping forever that it would trickle down to the cheap end of the market but I guess it's seen as not needed.

I use ERUNT along with an NT Backup Script that only backs up the System State. This allows me to only restore the registry when I wish or to revert back to a previous "state" if any changes occur. Much better for my uses than that XP System Recovery although I can see how that would be usefull for newbies it is far too resource hungry and far less detailed than I would like which is why I do not use it.

?? Is there a reason why you are trying to install from DOS? It's much better to simply boot from the CD. What exactly are you trying to do with Smartdrv? It's been awhile since I've used it but if your simply run Smartdrv.exe again then it should display the status of smartdrv.

Don't use VNC. Use TightVNC. It's Tight.
