What would yoou propose as a solution?

Windows installation is VERY memory intensive. It's a fairly simply good memory check in and of itself.

Are you overclocking?

Well considering that 2003 has more features disabled than XP has enabled, the extra services don't really apply.....

I've always tried to get myself to use multiple deskops in NT without the pain and frustration of hitting keys and trying to force myself to use it. Well I found this program a couple of days ago: VirtuaWin http://w1.457.telia.com/~u45706979/ It displays an icon in your System Tray that tells you which Virtual Desktop that you are currently using. Then to switch you simply drag your mouse off the screen to that desktop! It's very simple and it even works well with Terminal Services since now instead of having to minimize/maximize my TS session I simply drag my mouse to a new virtual Desktop! Check it out!

The 9700 is beyond the GF4. I bought the 9700 when it first came out and I can safely say that it's about the best graphics card that I have ever owned.

Err....Diablo 2 was not built for Glide. 1. Diablo 1 only supported DirectDraw. 2. Diablo 2 supports DirectDraw,Direct3D & Glide. 3. Glide was only included for extra support of Voodoo boards. 4. D3D is better graphically in D2 than Glide...and much more supported considering that Glide is essentialy dead considering that the company that created it is no more. 5. Q: Consider the fact that even IF D2 IS better with Glide...how can it be better if your running it under an emulator. A: It won't be.

Emulators that require Glide3x.dll emulate a Voodoo 3. Emulators that require Glide2x.dll emulate a Voodoo 2. Why don't you run it in D3D?

Hmmm, How does a scripting forum sound?

Nah, Merchant really isn't needed. The Tribunal expansion adds lots of 20,40,100K items. Just barter with the MudCrab alot and you'll be rolling in cash...or use a Merchant MOD with tons of $$$...or if you like to cheat give yourself tons of $$.

delete io.sys with 0 kbytes size
DosFreak replied to disorder69's topic in Everything New Technology
Yes, as long as your not using DOS or 9x then you can. They are created on bootup...something that has annoyed me for a LONG time. -
Quote: Yeah, I agree with you. I've got an extra copy of Win2k laying around, but I don't think that these old systems will support it. I don't really care for any flavors of the Win9x O/S's, but I'm having to use Win ME on these two old AT boxes in order to try to salvage some use out of them. Mike, Sr. I've run 2K on as low as P90's with 32mb of ram..... Of course these were Intel machines but I also have XP loaded on my parent's Compaq K6-2 380Mhz (yeah, the one with no L2). It runs fine.....for what they do.

My Win2K + SP3 box is BSOD'ing......all the time
DosFreak replied to vaporware's topic in Everything New Technology
I'm leaning towards processor but memory could quite easily be the culprit. (Especially since it's an "Unknown Brand") Have you tried Memtest 86? -
Are you using any temperature monitoring utilities? These programs usually use a driver called "GIVEIO.SYS" which interferes with NTVDM. Disable it and DOS games should work fine. Motherboard monitor does not have this problem since Vlad of VDMSound fame reported it to the author and he fixed it. So I recommend using Motherboard Monitor. This is NOT a VDMSound problem. It's an NTVDM problem.

Anyone have an experience with the A7N8X motherboard?
DosFreak replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Hardware
As far as I amware there are no issues with the A7N8X and the Radeon 9700. 8X AGP working fine over here and I got my 9700 when it first came out. THis board is great....even tho I hate the integrated components you can disable them all. The Nforce boards ARE the BEST Athlon mobos that you can get...and far better than Intel boards if your a gamer/enthusiast. -
Is this the DOS XCOM? If so then IIRC there is no fix. I recommend playing the Windows versions. Your only other solution would be to try the game under Connectix Virtual PC or try the game under Real DOS.

Not sure...You can try picking through the files and delete the smartgart file...if there is one. Then manually looking for the registry entry for Fastwrites. I say don't worry about it. Your not going to get any benefit from it either way. Just a waste of time.
-
That's not integration. Rather it's loading the files silently after setup. So far no one has gone to the trouble of actually replacing the files one by one to for an SP like integration, for good reason considering that it would be alot of effor for little gain.

Drivers Needed! ATI Rage 128 ULTRA 32meg (Strange Problem)
DosFreak replied to Lotus's topic in Hardware
Quote: Thanks for the heads-up on this one... I really wish ATI would release a unified driver package similar to Nvidia's... Wishful thinking, anyway. They have....for the Radeon's. Don't expect any more from ATI. You'll be disappointed, oh and expect support to go down the drain once the successor to the Radeon series arrives.... -
I would email Valve and ask....although I wouldn't expect much of a response. You could either look up the permissions difference between Power User and oridnary user at the Registry/file permission level or also email Microsoft and ask.

Well my computer studies professor seems to think otherwise.
DosFreak replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Slack Space
The Prof is probly referring to that kid who wrote some code to play his DVD's on *nix and went to court over it. That's my theory anyway. -
