2 slots for a video card doesn't mean much since most of us don't use the PCI slot next to the AGP slot anyway and it's been common practice for how many years? -

Use Connectix Virtual PC or boot into Real DOS and play it. That's it.

Try Mechwarrior 1 in Dosbox. Should work with having to worry about slowing it down.

To run the game you will have to go to the game directory and run game.exe. The shortcuts use launcher.exe which does not work.

Quote: I would imagine (not having looked at the specific updates available) that this would be due to MS' new security initiative... Any thoughts? Do you mean the amount of security updates? Then yes of course but fortunately..or sometimes unfortunately MS has always been pretty good about up[censored] their OS's. Thanks for posting this thread felix. I've always made Norton Antivirus Corporate available to my users so that they can take it home but I haven't made any M$ updates available. I'll have to figure out a good way to organize and make them easily useable to the user but once I do I'll make them vailable to my users to take home. Proving the latest SP and any post Hotfixes should be enough but I'll have to decide wether I want them to upgrade SP levels or not. I may just provide instructions for determining SP level and then apply a QCHAIN....nah latest SP level and post hotfixes QCHAIN and then recovery instructions if things go wrong should do it....

Not sure what to tell you. It works fine here. IIRC, The game uses SafeDisk copy protection. Try a NOCD crack from www.gamecopyworld.com

Download the trial of UpdateExpert and download all of the updates for XP. Then burn the updates to CD.

This is an old post and the ACT only works on about 10% of my games in 2K/XP. The rest require other modifications.

Good one! Just added Installation & Setup.

EUREKA! Check out the first post!

I can see your reasoning with the IE and DX forums...which I'll remove. I was just toying with the idea. In forums such as these there are conflicts between Home users and workplace users. Both require different levels of attention. Believe me. Dumping Home users and Workplace users into one forum leads to trouble and is not as efficient. Which is why an DOS/9X/XP Home forum is a good idea. These are MS Home OS'S (Although used in Businesses Especially DOS). Are MS Marketed as Home OS's.

NOCD workaround for Jane's? What is the workaround?

Try switching to Joliet. I usually just rar my files and then burn to CD.

hhehehe.. Dunno where he came to those conclusions about Doom 3 Every test I ran showed that it was HEAVILY processor depedant. Oh well what do I know I just ran the game.... ;(

I was thinking of a HOME/WORK seperation but I cannot figure out a decent way to do it. Of course sticking DOS/9x/XP Home in their own category would work... Mabye lump XP Home with the legacy OS's and rename Legacy to HOME Operating systems. That way could seperate the rest of the forum from the noobs. Dunno...they probably wouldn't be able to see it with all the forums.

Quote: Ok, I've got a suggestion to add... How about a seperate forum for NT/2k/.NET Server OSs? Covering installation, troubleshooting, security, etc. Possibly with some sticky guides/FAQ's...? I wouldn't mind helping to write a few guides/FAQ's either. Ah, SERVER. That's what I get for not reading. Hmmm, Yes...there definetly needs to be seperation between the WKS and the SVRS...Hmmm....

Aha! Stuck another one in. Drivers.
