Don't worry. LinuxCompatible isn't going to die any time soon. I'll start posting more *nix stuff when I get my dually back up and running again this week. Still debating on making it my fileserver or not...I probably will but will make it *nix and use FTP to transfer my files over the network. Netbios is soooooo crappy.

NAV 7.61 works fine in both.
-
Yes, but if your work uses it then your licensed to use it at home.
-
NAV CE and please try searching the forums please?
-
It is in PRO but not Server/AS. It also can be broken quite easily.

Sidewinder Game Pad (gameport ver) probs with win2k sp3/sp2
DosFreak replied to darkmantid's topic in Hardware
IIRC, the dinput.dll changed in SP3. Replace the dinput.dll in SYSTEM32 and DLLCACHE with the dinput.dll from SP2 and see if that works. -
Less XP posts in NT/2000 and less NT/2000 in XP. They are all NT so most questions can be posted here. Where the more difficult ones can be located there.

Yeah, unplug is better but TURN IT OFF sounded soooo much better. WOL is a beautiful thing.

Help!!!! ClonyXXL doesn´t work on my P3 600 with Win200 SP3!
DosFreak replied to Titanus's topic in Software
Wait wait... No need to instal ASPI 4.6 or ForceASPI. IIRC, ForceASPI still uses and older versions of ASPI. Just download ASPI 4.71 and perform an install x86. That will install the latest and greatest ASPI layer. oh and I use CLonyXXL over here. -

Is v2.0.0.6 the latest? I've always used this one and never been quite sure of their versioning system. This version works fine for me with the latest ver of CloneCD.... As far as I know if ASPI is installed correctly (verify by running the ASPICHK in the ASPI 4.71 package) and if your copy of Clony is installed correctly then it should work fine. Clony is pretty self contained so it shouldn't rely on any other windows files.... -
Now What's The Better Choice, W2K SP3 or WXP SP1?
DosFreak replied to CyberGenX's topic in Slack Space
Automatic Updates is handy too and Faster User Switching is too but not used by me since my computers are connected to the network. -

IIRC, the list of services between 2k/xp are pretty much the same.... As for SP4 for 2K there will be one.....hopefully. The hotfix directory is on the MS ftp but so was SP7 for NT4...... -
Try VPC without EMM386 or any other Memory extender program. They usually cause havoc with DPMI programs.
-
Yep, Win32 was designed for Winders 3.1....about the same time as Doom. So your getting this error both in 9x DOS (in Windows) and NTVDM in NT? Why not just use it in 9x REAL DOS mode? (It's probably easier for ya to use in NT so I shouldn't have asked....) Try Connectix VPC and see if that works for ya. I do not have an answer for ya at the moment except for trying to email the author of the prog.
-
Interesting....It actually stated that error? Is the DPMI integrated into the main executable or is it in the directory? Just find it funny that they programmed it to detect Win32 so it must be a fairly recent prog for a Doom prog....

It's a tool the author of VDMSound made. Not realted to VDMSound at all but it *MIGHT* fix the issue you stated. Computer problems + drunken state= FUN!

My 100fps avg in UT at 2048X1536 @ 32bc Full details proves ya wrong.... Once long long ago when UT came out and mabye about a year after Glide was still the king for Unreal but no longer.
-
Try the different rights, most likely "Power User"
-
Nope, no fix. Http://vogons.zetafleet.com Go the the VDMSound forum and post this post there. This is the author's forum of a tool that I seem to remember that he made. Hopefully he can give ya better advice.... Most likely tho the program will not work and your best bet would be Windows XP with it's very few added VESA modes or Connectix Virtual PC or real DOS (Ranked in order from least support to most support for the game)
-
ehhh...but the V2 doesn't support S3TC.
-
Yep, but nothing new. Remember splicing and dicing the files when the S3TC addition to the OGL driver in UT was added for Nvidia Card owners from the Linux port of UT. Funny thing is IIRC, the UT 2003 developers mentioned that UT has more S3TC than UT 2003! Which judging by the demo it looks like they are correct (The demo doesn't have all the textures tho). Still the win32 ver of UT 2003 is one CD and the linux ver of UT 2003 is one CD, while the ver of UT with S3TC textures is 2 CD's witht the second CD devoted totally to S3TC textures! You'd think they would have packed UT 2003 full of S3TC but I guess they decided to keep 'em out for speed....loading every single texture of UT 2003 would have been a MASSIVE decrease in CD space (DVD's DANGIT!) and speed (who cares we have 1GHZ+ processors nowadays!)

Would you describe yourself as an average user learning the OS "experience"? I think not. The fact is that since 2K has less enabled then it takes less to disable and use the "Pro" features than it does for XP, wheras to use the "Pro" features you have to disable them to get 'em. 2K Pro out of the box has them automagically enabled right from the start. You have to make thing's "easier". Whereas XP is "easier" out of the box for the n00b. You really need to find a person who does not use computers very much at all and sit them at a 2K station...then at an XP station. Then find another user and perform the same but in reverse. I think you'll notice what I am talking about.
