VIA is fine once you've got it configured correctly. Once had the crackling problem on an MPV3 chipset. Never again after that through 5+ VIA owned chipsets by I have I had any other probs...except of course the VIA Busmaster drivers...but those have been pretty good for the Athlon based mobo chipsets. IMHO, Intel chipsets just seem to work more often out of the box than Via chipsets. With that being said I always use Via chipsets since I upgrade so often which is why VIA will most likely remain my chipset of choice for some time to come. The error he posted DOES occur with bad memory or incorrect memory settings. I've seen it. -
Unfortunately not all networks are as perfect as Microsoft seems to think they are.

Try VoptNT/XP.

Also I had to create a registry script to delete the registry entries for the CDR drivers. (Would pop up error in event log if I didn't). Never bothered to modify the original WMP files so I didn't have to run the .reg after. WMP 7.1 runs fine in NT4. It's just another Microsoft marketing scheme. Go Linux Go!

Phillip, Is there any way to offer the ability for a USER when they click the DETALS tab in an Application/Hardware/Game to POST NEW THREAD on this game? I am unsure if you want to do this however since if the database/forum was every upgraded then the two may become unsynchronized...but looking at your associated threads it looks like you have some sort of search feature going on there so I doubt that it'll turn out that bad....

NT4 has NO ACPI support and APM support in this OS is not as fully implemented as in 9x OS's. 98+ 9x Operating systems do support ACPI but do not have as much as an implementation throughtout the os as 2K/XP. -
polarcat posted the infamous XP Key Generator.

http://ntvdm.cjb.net Download VDmSound and all patches. No Vesa support.

No. I remember a looooonnnggg time ago back in the 286 error where there was a push for PCMCIA in the desktop and there was a possibility for PCMCIA for vide but it never really happened. It's due to the way the interface works, any video out of an PCMCIA slot would be at least on par with your on-board....if it even worked.

You shouldn't notice ANY huge performance difference IN GAMING. Going from 9x to NT. There may be some noticeable increases such as smoother gameplay and a few fps here or there but any huge differences come from updated drivers or from people who do not tweak their system installing a new OS that finally takes advantage of their OS's capabilities (whereas if you installed the latest 9x drivers then you'd see your performance). Yes, 9x code will be phased out. If you look at the MS page 9x support will be gone from them ver soon. When that happens new games from companies will probably have support for 9x for 1-2 years but after that. Buh Bye 9x! See ya! Wouldn't wanna beya! :p

Odd, I copied the downloaded files to another machine and did some hacking around. (Had to copy some files around). Installed multiple times and received multiple license errors upon reboot. If it was a license issue it never would have installed in the first place. Guess you can't copy the express install to different machines.

They wanted to unify the 2 ACT'S as they should have been all long. I'm hopping that the application Compatibility in SP3 has been update majorly since they require SP3 for ACT 2.5.

Hmmm, did you ever backup your old NT install? I believe the information for the software RAID is stored in NT in the registry but I could be wrong.... Unsure how to recover a software RAID from a fresh install without a backup.

Replace the card in your computer with his card or vice versa.
