The fixes do not come with the ACT's. They are built-in to the .sdb's included with the Application Compatibility fixes. The ACT 2.5 does contain a new Application Compatibility upate but ONLY for Windows XP. So installing ACT 2.5 will not give you your fix in Windows 2000. Porting the fixes would be easy for Microsoft....we'll just have to hope that SP3 contains th fixes.

Trident TGUI9400CXi, 1MB expandable (2 chips), VLB (pulls) http://home.att.net/~videomonitors/adapters.html Woot! Seriously, That is WAAAAAAAAYYY too much to be paying for a GF4 MX 440. Heck, I bought my parent's GF4 MX 420 at best Buy for $99. Just check out www.pricewatch.com and thr absolute highest price for the GF4 MX series is $160 from where? PNY! LOL! If ya check out www.newegg.com you can get a GF4MX for about $97. So yeah if your going to get a GF4 MX 440 don't buy it for that much. Heck, for that price ye can get ya a GF4 Ti4200 which is far superior to that MX. Check the bottom of this page: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?Submit=TOPSELLER&DEPA=1 Excellent website. I don't really shop for cheap cards, I usually get the Ultra/Ti4600 brand cards so you might want to ask around about how overclockable the 4200's are. Some can reach 4600 levels.

We all know this (well most of us ) but here it is in writing: http://www.tweakers.com.au/articles/storage/ata133/page1.asp "ATA133 should theoretically be 33% faster than ATA100, but my results basically didn't show much of an improvement at all."

and a KEY will come with every marker\Tape. Upon every usage of Marker you will have to input a 256 character key code before usage of marker. The KEY will also be imprinted in your tape. Usage of tape on CD's and you will be identified! 8) 8)

Another vote for OpenOffice. Been using it for the last couple of weeks instead of Office XP and am considering using it at work. MUCH less annoying and easier to install than Office XP and it does everything that I need it to. The interface could use more thought however.

It's true. QUICK HIDE THE MARKERS!

I heard that Serial ATA would offer backwards compatibility through connectors but I seriously doubt it and this was a long time ago, I also heard it would start out at just above SCSCI-3 speeds.

Oooolldd tweak, but a good one.

The gameplay pace is BG1 is far slower than BG2. The res is limited to 640x480. I tried to go back and play after playing BG2 & Homeworld and other High Res games but I just couldn't...too many other games to play and not enough time..BUT if your stuck with a crappy laptop or if you do not have any new games then give it a go! Don't forget to download the unofficial MODS too.

Unfortunately I do not have a fix either except for trying the slowdown programs...which do not seem to work all that great under NT for games. Sigh. Another game that needs up[censored].

I currently have 2 60GB HD's. 1 for "temporary backup" which I store all of my "backup" files on and organize. The second for permanent backup which I use MSBACKUP on the first HD and backup to the 2nd once a month or after huge file changes. I then disconnect the power from the 2nd HD. My backup file on the 2nd drive is currently around 55GB which cannot be achieved with FAT32. My backups are also more secure and less prone to errors than a FAT32 filesystem. Just got my first 120GB HD today and am about to get my second...these are to replaced my 60gb HD's!

Build engine games with SFX are a no go on Windows 2000. Even VDMSound will not help you there. You can use MIDI but no SFX. Your only solution is to either use Connectix Virtual PC or boot to DOS. If you "upgrade" to Windows XP, install VDMSound and aquire the latest .dll from Vlad. you will be able to play build engine games in Windows XP...except without VESA.

http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid=4563&mode=thread&order=0 Quote: ExtremeTech, a Ziff Davis subsidiary hardware website, together with Gas Powered Games and Microsoft today announced the availability of a benchmarking add-on for Dungeon Siege. he benchmark is a rolling demo in which the game is actually playing itself as a character runs through various aspects of the world. Note that during the benchmark run, AI is active and large amounts of world data are streaming through your system. Dungeon Siege scales with CPU, memory and graphics capabilities, making it a good system test -- but it will also scale well if you vary single subsystems (eg, changing out graphics cards or varying resolutions.) "When Chris Taylor described Dungeon Siege's unique architecture to me, I knew it would make an excellent stress test for PC systems and graphics card," noted ExtremeTech's Loyd Case. "We worked with the Dungeon Siege team, supplying them with the main spec. They did a great job of turning that spec into a great benchmark. We'll be using it as a key component of our 3D GameGauge 3.0 benchmark."
