It should have come on a driver disk with your USB key. If it didn't then you can probably go to the company website and download the drivers. If you were using Windows 2000/XP/Vista you wouldn't have to bother doing this.

The X1050 is already running at maximum performance. AGP slot has nothing to do with it. It's a POS card. You can pickup a Geforce 7600GS for $85 (with rebate) at newegg.

Try copying all of the CD onto a folder on your hard drive and install from there.

I've installed SC3000 plenty of times off of the CD and it just works. Only thing I can suggest is to try copying all of the CD onto a folder on your hard drive and then install from there. It's possible that the CD or CDROM is dirty and not reading it correctly.

Nope. Buy your CD's from the store. Thread closed.

Do you have the August redistributable of DirectX 9.0c installed?

I noticed you have the same motherboard, processor and video card that I have. For the P5N32-E SLI you need to make sure that your running the latest bios. 0801 I believe? Also if your overclocking....and probably even if your not. You need to up the voltage on your NorthBridge and your processor. Doing these 3 things made my computer rock solid in stability. Oh, also make sure that you've updated Starcraft to the latest ver. I believe a patch game out yesterday.

What's the problem?

Looks like a graphics card problem. Try downloading and using DGVoodoo as described in this thread: http://www.nfscars.net/forum/archive/index.php?t-18021.html

Does "edit.com" work? Do you have any DOS games that use text mode? Try loading a roguelike and see if that works. Text mode games usually run fine in an NTVDM console window so if those programs work then you know that you are able to play 16bit games. If the above works but fullscreen does not then it's likely your video card drivers which are the culprit. Your NTVDM error among tons of other NTVDM problems is one of the reasons why DosBox was created and why it's been recommended to use DosBox for quite some time.

Alot of games for the past few years have come with copy protection that installs drivers on your computer. In alot of cases this copy protection is incompatible with software/OS/hardware in your computer. The only fixes are to remove the offending software, find the Windows update which interfers or upgrade your OS/upgrade the firmware on your hardware or upgrade your hardware (pretty much just CD/DVD drive).....or you can contact the makers of the copy protection and have them troubleshoot the problem....if they card....or you can use a NOCD patch which will either remove the copy protection from the game or you just download the game executable from a website which already has the copy protection remove. I can't post a link here but search google for gamecopyworld. I don't have Pandora Detective so I'd have ask around but go ahead and try it doesn't hurt to use compatibility mode.

A P3-933 with even just 384mb should be blazing fast. I setup my brother with a K63-400 with 384mb a couple of years ago so something must be up with that P3....

Whenever you receive an .ICD error in Windows it usually points to a copy protection problem. So for NHL 2000 you'll probably need a NOCD patch or you can try to figure out why the copy protection doesn't work. I have better things to do with my time and I don't like helping copy protection makers make their copy protection better so I just use a NOCD on those games. The Tex Murphy games work in XP but you may have to do different things for each game. Which game specifically?

Hmmm, make sure your running the latest ver of Defender and check you event log for the error. It may show the file it gets hung up on. IIRC, the quick scan only checks a few locations whereas the full scan scans the entire disk so there may be a file that's locked and it cannot scan.

All I've ever had to do to play Yoda Stories on 2000/XP/2003/Vista is to replace the wavemix32.dll file with an updated version

Might want to try a NOCD patch. Try megagames.

Try with or without compatibility mode and try the various ones. 95,98,2000

Hey Eddie! Should probably post my new build in here.....
